  1. So you wouldn't put Adam Lallana into last year's team instead of, say, BWP? You wouldn't put Spiderman into a Souness team instead of Ali Dia ; you wouldn't find room for Drew Surman in the Branfoot era? We're a mid-table Championship team at the moment so I know what you mean. But memory does fade with age my friend.
  2. We had no choice, but there's an awful feeling of what might have been this morning. Theo running the show for England, Bale running the show for Wales... good luck to them and roll on doncaster away on a wet wednesday night.
  3. No, he was going to be selling/loaning our most highly paid players. Rasiak, Saga, Davies, Viafara all gone -- and Euell, Skacel, BWP would have gone for a decent offer, and may still go on loan. Personally I would have kept Greg over Stern, and told Stoke they'd got enough of our former players already when they came in for Davies (they re-signed Higgi today as well and maybe they'll take Kelvin on loan). But we have no money and aren't in a position to argue. And btw my Spurs supporting mate says he'd rather have kept Pekhart than brought in Fraizer Campbell for 7 mill. Let's just pray he's right.
  4. Notice the OS is making much of the fact that he's grown up with Spiderman. Hope that doesn't make Gasmi this year's Imants Bleidelis or (insert name of rubbish player who came from Equador with Delgado). Oh I see, the new Zidane (short version). That's alright then. C'mon Romain.
  5. Absolutely. The train to fratton leaves at ten past three. Off you ****.
  6. Maybe it's just me, but I'm sort of assuming that we're going to have to win 3-2. A thirty yard thunderbolt from Jermaine and a mazy dribble and curler into the far corner from Fatty. Just as well Lallana's gonna get a hat-trick.
  7. My vote would go to Morgan Schneiderlin for leading a young team back to the Premiership at the end of the 2009-10 season. Now there was an inspired signing...
  8. Can't wait.... Text to mates on Monday -- 'we've just signed the new zidane'. Why let the facts get in the way of a good line?! Exciting times... COYR
  9. That was a great day at the Lane, wasn't it? Beattie I think in the first minute and it just got better. The 'We want Hoddle out say we want Hoddle out' chant at the end was bleedin' deafening. Bye Glenn.
  10. There will be hysterical pessimism on here until we win our first game. Then there will be hysterical optimism. That's football, innit? I'm still expecting a decent season, and mid table-ish finish. IF that happens, and we don't sell half the youngsters next summer, I think we can push for the playoffs next season. Should be fun whatever. COYS
  11. Mate of mine who has the misfortune to be a Chelsea fan (has been since 1970 to be fair) says he's a brilliant prospect. Here's hoping.
  12. I'm not sure why it indicates he's got more 'class' than Kevin Phillips either. Just better PR. But Stoke City haven't got a hope in hell of surviving in the Prem. And I'm sure he knows it.
  13. Dear Andrew, See you in the Championship next season. I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome. All the best, Laptop PS Can we have that Player of the Season award back, please.
  14. [quote=saintkiptanui; if you're born in Southampton and like football you should be made to support saints, if you don't you should be extradited to iraq. I like your style.
  15. Fabulous to hear the positive opinions of many who were there. So far we've played -- at my best guess -- a playoff team and the potential champions. And it sounds like we could/should have got a point from both. Results will get better. But I'm still deeply worried about the sale of Davies. He was the LAST player I would have wanted to go. It means we're mortgaging the season on the health of Killer's Knee. Lancashire, Racine may be ones for the future -- but it's a big ask for them to step up right now. Still... can't wait to get back to Blighty and watch a young side playing good footie. Cheers all.
  16. Where do you start? 1) First ever game standing on a wooden box behind the goal in the Archers 2) Channon's testimonial - just incredible 3) The choccy boxes 4) Stevie Williams being arsey 5) The 'Milton Aggro' chant 6) Yellow and Blue woolly scarves 7) Beating Man City in the rain in the run-up to the League Cup final Matt Le Tiss -- many goals 9) Pahars scoring twice v Everton 10) And -- when I was about eight -- Spurs fans on the Commons trying to charge a group of Saints lads and one of them falling into a ditch
  17. Coach in 'keep the same team and don't panic after one game' shock. If everyone's fit the same eleven who started at Cardiff will start against Birmingham. Jan the Man seems to know his own mind, and he's got more confidence in the team than half the people on here.
  18. Back to Saints TV - can anyone tell a new subscriber when match highlights actually get posted? Seeing as it's well over 48 hours since the end of the Cardiff match (and counting)...
  19. And even if he does stay fit it worries me that he'll probably not be able to play midweek games. Hard to go on a decent run if your best player keeps having to sit one out. Whatever -- best of luck Michael. You've earned every minute of it.
  20. ...what an amazing achievement this is. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/10/championship.cardiffcity Kiiillllleerrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. The voice of reason. Are you sure you've come to the right place? Let's get behind a young footballing team and see where we are in a couple of months.
  22. Really? How on earth did I misunderstand you? And stay off the Red Bull. It would only make you more annoying.
