If it hadn't been for various parts of Chris Perry's body getting in the way at the last minute, we'd have lost that men vs boys fa cup tie at home to Man Utd about 8-0. Thanks, Chris, and good luck.

Glad I haven't spent most of the last week reading this board. Cortese does at times sound like he'd be able to pick a fight in a phone box - but there's nothing wrong with fighters. We could do with a couple more to get us out of this league.
-
Now we know who is in the Playoffs, who do you want to go up?

And while we're about it, fair play to Huddersfield. When we were coming up fast on the rails a few weeks ago it was clear someone would bottle it. Colchester did big time, but Huddersfield raised their game (after the shock of a five nil defeat at St Marys ) and kept winning with last minute goals - again yesterday. So even if we had beaten Odlham and the Gills we would have been out of it today. Huddersfield deserve it - hope they win the playoffs.

The good news I presume is that not that many champ clubs can match our wages our our realistic 3-5 year plan (which I think, with the investment involved, now has to be aiming for consecutive promotions - tough, but it's been done before). I suspect Jose would only be tempted if a Prem club made an offer. Hope so anyway. Apart from Pulis, Morgan is the most likely key player to leave this summer IMO - hope that doesn't happen either.

He muffed it up. My heart bleeds for him. Chelsea win the cup then. And Pimpley still get relegated.
-
Ifs and Buts... IF we won all our remaining games I think we'd overall two of Charlton, Colchester and Huddersfield. BUT I'm pretty sure we won't win them all. It'll be fun trying though.
-
We have to aim to be less than ten points off the play-offs. That's a realistic target and will give us the confidence going in to next season that we were a play off standard team who can only get better.
-
Losing. To Swindon. Or Tranmere. Or Brighton. Or Colchester. Or or or... Ahh f*ck it.
-
Oh, and Swindon have still got to travel to Leeds, Colchester and on the final day Millwall. Nasty.
-
Huge. Just been looking at the BBC predictor which I tend to do in chunks because otherwise it does my head in. I reckon when we walk out at Wembley we could be just 7 points off Swindon in 6th. I have them losing to us and then losing at home to Naarwich. In the mean time we beat them, win at Franchise FC (they were so crap twice at St Marys) and then beat Hartlepool at home. SO we make up nine points... game on!!! (still think we'll finish eighth - running out of time to make up the points difference - but we can all dream...)
-
FWIW I don't mind you whinging and moaning to your heart's content but please keep it off the 'Just back from the game' thread. It's called that for a reason, and it's why I usually enjoy reading it. You weren't there and neither was I. "Currently Kabul".

Our away form in the league over the last eight games is not much better than relegation form - 1-4-3. God what a waste today was. We've only got five away games left in the league. AP has to get this team to figure out how to win at least three of them - to set us up for next season.
-
And of course we have to hope that we don't get distracted and drop stupid points in the games before or straight after the P!ss Pot Trophy final.

Both 'on a string' and 'mother brown' suggestions above are ****ing good actually. Not only the team that's coming into form at the business end of the season. Quite like to see an Itchen Northam 'conversation' on Mother Brown... FIrst chorus (slow) Itchen: Oxlade Chamberlain Northam: Oxlade Chamberlain Itchen: Alexander Northam: Alexander All: Oxlade Chamberlain Second chorus (fast with everyone bouncing around like lunatics) All: Oxlade Chamberlain Oxlade Chamberlain Alex Alex Alex Alex Oxlade Chamberlain Oi!

They've been known for their home form all season. But their recent away form has been just as good - one of the reasons they've opened up that gap on us. It'll be a hard game, and they're a big confident team. But I think we'll win 3-1.
-
I know it's all about opinions, and i respect most people's on here. But how anyone can think Hammond is better than Schneiderlin (and I like Deano a lot) is way beyond me. As I said on another thread, I fear bids for both Morgan and Adam this summer. If they come from the CCC we can knock them back and match the money. If they come from higher up, it'll be more of a struggle. Really hope Spiderman stays and gets to the Prem with us, but we may run out of time.
-
I'm sure you're right. It's Lallana and Schneiderlin who worry me.

I agree with the general sentiment on here. Alan has done an extremely astute job since he came in - and since the Jan transfer window he has 'his' first team. If we're not in or extremely close to the top two at the end of the year questions will be asked and tough decisions will have to be taken. But for now any move to ditch AP would be utter dispiriting madness. I will be thousands of miles away on Tuesday evening. But for those who are going - an early rousing chorus of 'Stand Up if you love Pardew' please - from all four stands. COYS

I've got a mate in Afghanistan who says the Taleban were going to come over to back up Pompey. Until the bearded ones found out that Pompey's manager visits brothels. And is Israeli. So now it's Mossad coming over. Be warned.
-
They're not Pardew's boys but they are Pardew's buys. Would Coppell for instance want Seaborne? Would he want Barnard? I dunno - maybe he would maybe he wouldn't. Point is a new manager always wants to change a few things, and I think it's something we could do without in the coming summer.
-
I agree. If we change manager at the end of this season then some other poor sap is stuck with all Pardew's buys and we have another summer of upheaval (not nearly as bad as last year but you know what I mean) and another new team starting again. Pardew has to be given until this time next year. If we're not in the top two or three by then I could understand action being taken. Any time before that would be folly in my opinion. We've done the new manager every year thing, we've seen the comedy at QPR and elsewhere, and now for the first time in years we have a settled set-up with everyone pushing in the same direction. If Nicola is saying to AP come on need to do better that's fine... a little bit of pressure. But let's leave it at that for now.

I may be mistaken but isn't the second goal shown on the OP part of Matty's incredible hat-trick against Norwich? Still one of my strongest football memories... I've been looking for video of it for ages, can anyone tell me where the other two goals are?!?!?

Haven't bought a copy since about 1985. But i think the Echo needs to know that if it ends up as a big fight between the club and paper then there's only one side fans are going to support at the moment.
-
True - but if we'd held on to leads we threw away at Millwall and Brentford we'd be just 8 points off the play-offs and pretty well set. And when you look at our team sheet against all but a small handful of teams in this league you think 'we should win this'. Very few saw the play-offs as a given (I've been predicting 8th) but there's no harm in aiming high.
