Not a must win in terms of the table (although losing wouldn't be pretty) -- there's a long way to go. But a must win in terms of team psychology -- they have to get a win at home, simple as that. Time for some young lads to grow up fast.

I thought we'd be lower-mid table and still think that can happen. Gimme some strikers though. And then next season... big dreams!

The three main reasons we are not scoring enough goals.
LaptopSaint replied to derry's topic in The Saints
So what's to do be done? My suggestion -- send Robertson, Pekhart and Smith back where they came from (if we want to blood yet more youngsters we've got Patterson, White etc waiting in the wings). Use the money we save on wages by selling Rudi to Ipswich (don't want him to go but that's life) on bringing one of Stern/Rasiak and also Saga back at least until the end of this season. I reckon (but don't know) that Rudi's probably the highest earner of that lot so it will save quite a bit. Still need more money? Sell Wotton (he'll never be more than a bit part player and while he's a shouter he ain't good enough) and try to persaude Sheff Utd to pay us some money for Dyer. Pulis? We have to give him a chance... but what were we thinking there? Even a few hundred thousand for Stern or Rasiak (whichever one we don't try to keep) should be a bite your hand off moment too. Finally - if we have to - sell one of Surman/Lallana IF it means we get our experienced strikers back. Until then (if he's fit) chuck Jason Euell up front. We have to try something different. If we can't score more goals we will go down. I'm pretty confident that there is time to turn it round, but getting in more unproven lower league reserves won't be the answer. -
I think this is nub of it. The trouble is I suspect Rasiak costs Saints about as much per week as Forecast, Gasmi, Pulis, Robertson, Peckhart and Smith combined. Still even Davies and just one of our three strikers would have been a better bet -- Peckhart and Robertson are unproven gambles, so why not just take a punt on White (who was scoring for fun in the reserves until we loaned him out to the Shrews) as backup to DMG and Rasiak/Stern/Saga. It doesn't add up.

time to crack open the champagne. we lost again. hoo-****ing-ray.

Anthony Pulis -- EXCLUSIVE!!! I mean come on. My theory is that someone writing for the OS is actually taking the ****. What other explanation can there be?

At ten to three on a Saturday afternoon i can't believe any Saints fan, whether going through the turnstiles at the Northam or crouching over a computer thousands of miles away, wants the team to lose. Every time, every game, no matter where I am I get that half excited/half sick feeling. Can't help it, just happens.

Top post Florida. I don't read the Echo but I find the coverage of football in almost all the British media breathtakingly ****e. With one or two fine exceptions, no-one seems to ask the questions that matter.

67. We no longer have a radio station 68. Harry Redknapp 69. Trousers?

Nile Ranger named in 20 future England Stars

Quite delighted none of our young lads are mentioned. Let them grow up quietly. -
Wot he said. And that could qualify as the most depressing transfer window ever. We need all four for the rest of this season - especially Drew and Adam. C'mon mushes, hang about for a bit. FFS.

Jan's not going to leave unless he resigns of his own accord or we get taken over. As neither scenario looks likely to me, it's time to get behind him and start praying.

I think that's probably a bit high. I'd be pleased with 19,512.

Thanks for all the advice, lads. COYR -- let's get a streaming win
-
Can someone who knows more about these things than me advise on which is the best/easiest website to use to watch the game live on the internet from abroad? Thanks, Laptop

I think AFCW are playing Wycombe Wanderers live on TV in the first round of the cup on Monday> Hope they win and get MK Dons in the next round.

Lallana and Euell in for Thomson and Smith. WIth Oscar and BWWW coming off the bench.

On the other hand when we beat them 4-0 at SMS I thought Hull were truly shocking - the least skillful side I'd seen for ages. Hull have a manager with what looks like the Midas touch, but the Baggies were head and shoulders the best team in the CCC last year. Might be the best team in the CCC next year too -- but hopefully second best

I wondered how you might make that Saints related. Good effort!

Looking at the table this morning only Wolves have won more away games than us. Our away form is play-off form. But at home... nerves set in, fans get restless and our form is the worst in the league alongside Forest and Donny. I know some of the stuff served up at SMS this season has been pretty unpalatable. But there was also that early season promise... the Carling win over Brum... we know they can do it, they just need to be consistent. Big shout for the lads on Saturday. Every little helps. There are going to be setbacks and **** performances through the season. This team is still learning. But one win at SMS and I reckon we could go on a mini-run. COYR

Rory Delap's notororious long throw .
LaptopSaint replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
Fair point my friend. Rory still runs like a duck with a poker up his arse though. -
Beat Bristaaaal, draw with Wolves, lose at Reading and beat Plymouth with a Paul Wootton hat-trick. But knowing this team we'll lose to Bristaaaaaaaal and then win at Reading 5-4.

Preston 2-3 Saints - You've Gotta be Havin' a Laugh
LaptopSaint replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
From The Observer: "There was also a rousing Houdini act from Southampton, who fought back from 2-0 down at Preston to win 3-2. Eddie McGoldrick scored their late winner, with a great run through the Preston defence followed by a composed finish from just inside the penalty area." That should shut up the moaners who say we don't have enough experienced players in the team. I thought Eddie retired from football in about 1998. -

And the pitch invasion after the winner tops it all off. Just like old times! Turning point? It could be -- that little boost of self-belief that's been missing. And sounds like Alex Pearce had a stormer. Well done lads, and well done to the invaders! COYR
