  1. the first game he plays next season might be even more important. Premiership survival could depend on the result. For me it was Jos' good form that kept him out of the side, but seeing as some on here descrobe him as "calamity Jos" you have to ask how good is Forren? Having seen nothing of him I have no idea. He doesn't look the biggest, which is a slight concern, but surely he is better than Yoshida.
  2. begs the question why not blood him in the last game?
  3. very good analysis. That right midfield position seemed to be filled by Puncheon for a period last season and he linked very well with Clyne, but he needs competition and not from Gaston. Thomas Ince perhaps? Kone £6.5m buy out clause is enticing. Fortune on a free from WBA would out some strength up the middle. Perhaps I'm shopping with the wromng budget, but paying big is niot always neccessary.
  4. from those photos I can see quite clearly that he's better than Fox ;-)
  5. better than Fox, but are we able to offload Fox?
  6. It might not be a club anymore, but I'm sure common sense will prevail. If not, "the Southampton Way, quality in everything we do, by never standing still we find a better way, we don't follow, we lead, and others follow our example" will seem very hollow indeed. As I said I'm sure once the football business understand that there are a few people that fall between the gaps they will refine their process.
  7. Agreed. There must be some sort of certification that proves the claimant is elidgable for incapacity benefit and couldn't that be used by the club to determine who can and can't get a disabled ticket. Hope you can sort this.
  8. Everyone knows in advance that games will be moved for the telly. If it came out of nowhere then you'd have a point about football clubs compensating fans. Pick a different stick to beat Cortese though.
  9. I'd prefer to have that pound in my pocket than have it wasted it on this load of old marketing puff. Booking fee was £2.50 on top of the £656 ticket.
  10. Looks to have decent, but not lightening pace, an OK touch, average on the air, no great tricks, good movement at times and great direct running on the ball that really takes the pressure off our defence. I especially like how he was willing to put a shift in down the left side when asked by Adkins (although he's not the best defender in the world that's for sure). Once he got his goal at Old Trafford the confidence he gained really changed his season. From that game on he seemed to realise he was good enough for this league and just played with more freedom. I'm not sure him and Lambert really have a good partnership going yet, but we don't really play with two up top so that's not surprising. Can he lead the line on his own? I don't think so. I think there might be more to come, but there needs to be. His finishing is weak at times having done a lot of the hard work. He's a bit of a scuffer. That is a result of not having that lightening pace to take you away from thre defenser and enable you time to set yourself before shooting. Lallana has the same problem. There are better strikers out there for sure, but getting them here will cost a fortune. I wonder how he will react to a new striker coming in and taking his first team shirt.
  11. like the two tone stripes. Maybe with just two reds?
  12. I rate Ricky and Wellbeck. Welbeck has looked quite good for England at times. First half in Montenegro he was our best player. England are **** because they don't have decent dribblers in the side. Chamberlain was ****ing terrible. Why players that hardly play for theor cliubs get straight into the England side I will never know. Class is important but sharpness, form and confidence does matter.
  13. we were linked before weren't we. New manager but most of the same scouts.
  14. looks a cracking player to me. Strong and full of confidence. We've shown ourselves that good players from the Championship can shine in the top flight, so we should seriously consider one or two, rather than just look abroad.
  15. miles. Expectations are far too high in my opinion.
  16. Sturridge injury is exactly why I wasn't fussed that Lambert didn't get a call up. Thinking of Shaw, I also have bad memories of Bridge getting his call up and not long after buggering off to Chelsea. A tad harsh to say his head was turned. I guess if players don't get recognition they might move to get it so you can't win.
  17. wondered what peoples thoughts would be if we were faced with a Wongo or QuickQuid sponsorship scenario like Newcastle and Bolton?
  18. with the £75m available they will be able to buy the players they need to make them competitive (ie far from fodder), just as long as they buy the right ones.
  19. I'd have Case in there. He was ****ing ruthless, but wouldn't cry if someone returned the favour.
  20. like the thought of skates having to discard their favourite Adidas
  21. Chez

    Jimmy Case

how many goals did Jimmy score for us? My memory is terrible, but he always seemed to be smacking them in from 20 yards
  22. at Sellhurst we doubled up on him (showing how much we rated him) and he still managed to create a brilliant chance. I'd take him without a second thought. In the top flight you need match winners, players that can do some thing different and he does that on a regular basis.
  23. much prefer a trip to Selhurst than Vicarage Road so glad the Eagles won. Like all teams coming up they will be regarded as fodder, but they will have a shed load of cash to play with so will be far from it come August.
  24. If the news reports are accurate we seem to be intersted in £10-15m players from Seria A, so £30m won't go far. Hopefully our scouts are still able to spot a bargain or two. The teams that have suffered econd season syndrome, did they spend big or not enough?
  25. how did we do the last time we had a black kit? Players must be harder to pick out tha of they are wearing white.
