  1. CB Fry

    Sport Republic

He's the top football man* and we are the flagship club of the group. He is 100% involved.
  2. Remember according to the experts on here he's loads better than Mark Hughes so Russell Martin has a glittering career ahead of him. Four different clubs into the Premier League top 10 - 6th, 8th, 7th, 9th all with different clubs - season after season in the top 10 and often the European spots. But Russell Martin is better so sit back and watch his career go go go.
  3. This premise is absolute horseshit, favoured by a handful of simpletons on here. You don't build a squad to "compete in the Premier League" by staying and staying and staying in the Championship. Get promoted as soon as possible and then work to stay in it. Like Ipswich and Leicester this season who may or may not stay up, but they are solidly in the mix. When we go back down are you proposing we conspire to stay down there until at least August 2027? That would be preferable? What good will it do us? What good is it doing Leeds right now?
  4. Current popular WBA manager jumping ship to Wolves seems like a bit of a reach.
  5. It was obvious he should have been sacked after Bournemouth, giving a competent replacement 30 to 32 games to try and keep us up, when we weren't cut adrift. But the club bottled it and the "chop and change never works" brigade got their wish, because Russell Martin.was going to learn and grow and turn into Alex Ferguson and no other manager on earth could do better. Since then 4 points from 10 matches and relegation guaranteed before Christmas. Maybe Chopping and changing would not have been so bad after all, because sticking with the idiot was a total disaster.
  6. What about when Hughes went and we got Ralph, or when Selles went and we got Russell Martin? Or when Branfoot went and we got Alan Ball, or Stuart Gray to Strachan, or Dave Jones to Hoddle. Russell Martin was on 5 points from 16 games FFS. He is Nathan Jones in this scenario.
  7. Lee Carsley. Pretty perfect learning slope to get some low pressure Prem experience then win the Championship. Then take us into the Champions League.
  8. Bit hasty, isn't it?
  9. Who's excited about the cinema and the hotel?
  10. Bit we're really improving and improving and improving. Would be absolute madness to chop and change now.
  11. You do realise these people bought a Premier League team in the first place. Fucked that up, redeemed themselves and then fucked it up again. Right now I wouldn't trust these twats to run a bath.
  12. Yes - I would say it am indifferent to all of it. Bolton have a hotel attached to the Reebok if remember right and Reading similar. Hasn't done much for them but may at least give them something of a safety net if they are up shit creek. In itself it doesn't do anything for our on pitch fortunes. 40k stadium - sure - but there has already been bellyaching on here about mythical Liverpool fans buying SMS season tickets for one match. 40k tickets swilling around is going to increase that for sure.
  13. O'Neil sacked at Wolves.
  14. Global free trade is bad now for you? It's so hard to keep up
  15. I'm stubbornly refusing to believe they will establish us as a mid table Premier League club. They are solidly on track for two Premier League seasons = two Premier league bottom place finishes. That very much IS happening. Building a hotel or a cinema somewhere adjacent to the stadium is neither here nor there in the scheme of things. Bournemouth play in a ground not much bigger than Court 18 at Wimbledon and are streets ahead of us now. Sport Republic have been proven you be utterly hopeless at running a top level football club. I couldn't give a fuck how they get on in mixed-use commercial property development.
  16. There was a simple pass back to the centre back that was very much on for Che there. Really he's let his team mates down.
  17. Perfection 👌
  18. Buckle up, everyone.
  19. The two choices would have been a Premier League contract or sacking him. I don't think the second option would have been plausible. We would never have been that "brave".
  20. You people just don't understand top level football like the geniuses at Sport Republic and the handful of awfully clever types on here who think this is the masterplan.
  21. It won't surprise me to see Farage and co label this as "Labour red tape" rather than precisely the Brexit they demanded.
  22. This is a load of disingenuous bullshit. Loads of teams get relegated and as a result sell players, we were fortunate to sell players like Lavia and JWP for big money. All relegated teams have player churn. We also spent big on players and wages for the division and kept Premier League players like KWP, Bednarek and others. We spent £8m on a striker for example, not hugely common in the second tier. Plenty of other managers take a Championship team up in one season. Scott Parker, Kompany, Maresca, etc. Let's not start pretending that Russell Martin achieved some miracle, we should have been top 3 on any metric, in any season, all day long. Russell Martin does not deserve to stay. If SR want to be pig headed about it fine but he will not be popular and will get the shortest of shrift if by a miracle he is still in charge come August.
  23. He's not on the shortlist for BBC Sports Personality. FFS.
  24. You better watch out You better not cry You better not pout I'm telling you why The manager of Santa Clara is coming to town He sees defenders sleeping He knows they're not awake Strikers who've been bad or good Be good for goodness sake You better watch out You better not cry You better not pout I'm telling you why Vasco Matos is coming to town
  25. Any manager "worth his salt" can get more than 5 points from 15 matches, right? Agree or not?
