  1. This thread is a bit easy isn't it? This appointment has united the fanbase more than any appointment I can ever remember: maybe Alan Ball or Hoddle taking over from Jones is comparable. Everyone wants Ralph to do well. Everyone is behind the manager. No one needs to be told to "get behind" him. It would have been a little braver to do the "lets get behind the manager whatever" routine when that "whatever" was one win all season.....after all Alex Ferguson three years etc etc etc etc etc
  2. I have no doubt that Wes Tender is, as usual, 100% bang on in his analysis. So it should only be a matter of time before Guided Missile clarifies his position vis-a-vis riots in the streets and piano wire. We now know from Wes that GM does not desire this outcome, he is not encouraging it or willing it on in any way. GM is a dispassionate observer predicting what might happen in his humble opinion. He is not condoning, not desiring, definitely does not want any rioting to happen whatsoever. I mean, that's really clear when you read GM's post back, as Wes encourages us to. Me and Wes are definitely right about that, aren't we Guided Missile?
  3. Why are you so bad at this?
  4. "Who is zis Mike Osman I am hearing about? Very motivational, yes? Bring him back I think is good"
  5. I think the two important things to remember about our new manager are He worked in Germany He fu cking hates Pompey Welcome Ralph and good luck!
  6. Hey guys, who wants us to win tonight? I've been thinking about this a lot and I have decided that I actually do. Come on Saints!
  7. If he had any inkling whatsoever that he was about to be offered the Bayern or Manchester United job then he wouldn't be talking to us at all, and certainly not let it get out that he has agreed in principle to take over. We sacked a manager yesterday, all but announced his replacement (and a bloody good one) within hours of that and STILL we have people on here going into paranoid meltdown and things being "dragged on" to a third day. Dragged on. Jesus wept. Jesus fu cking wept.
  8. Happy days. Delighted.
  9. At least 3 months gardening leave for a role like that, so we'd be waiting until next summer for Mitchell to deliver anything meaningful, if he joins us of course.

    Hughes OUT

Any news from your sources in Nairobi?

    Hughes OUT

No. He was in charge during our second Koeman season.

    Hughes OUT

He's won the Europa League so can't be all bad. Sensible to get him in for the no-pressure match at Spurs as prep for the really rather high-pressure match vs Cardiff.

    Hughes OUT

Two games to save his job, no wins in those two games. So possible bit still feels a long way off.
  17. Puel "similar type" to Paul Sturrock? Okay then, call me a nitpicker. Peas in a pod them two. Jesus wept. Pellegrino was an external appointment with no connection to Saints, so not similar to Wigley at all who was a club insider appointed for his relationship with the players. We stayed up under Hughes and went down under Redknapp. They aren't particularly similar either. Sturrock > Wigley > Redknapp was done in about nine months. Puel had and entire season, Pellegrino appointed in the summer off-season, Hughes eight months after that, so a good two year process. Other than that bang on mate. If we replace Hughes with Jaidi, then sack him a handful of games later and replace with Pardew you might have a point but right now you don't.
  18. Except Puel had an entire season not less than 20 matches, Pellegrino was an external appointment taken on during an extended recruitment process, while Wigley was a promoted from within panic appointment while the season was under way. And we stayed up under Hughes but didn't under Redknapp. Its uncanny how completely not like each other the two periods are.
  19. What the EU should do is put some actual freaking rules down to control this free movement. People should only be allowed to stay for a defined length of time - like three months or something. They should all be forced to prove they have the means to support themselves while here and they should get a job. If they haven't got a job in three months then they should leave. That's what I think the EU should do. Something like that.
  20. I think you'll find Ronald Koeman did get us to the group stages of the Europa League.
  21. Paolo Sousa's agent currently earning his money then.
  22. Stupidity always hits a nerve with me. It's not Google "saying" anything, it's just a search engine of content from all over the world. Plenty of which define a saved penalty as a missed penalty. It's called the English language: give it a try. Meanwhile, Gabbiadini missed his penalty last night. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/17259878.southampton-are-beaten-6-5-on-penalties-by-leicester-in-the-carabao-cup/
  23. And a miss.
  24. Try googling "missed penalty" and see what comes back in videos, match reports etc. Hint: it's loads and loads and loads of penalties saved by the keeper. A miss means opportunity missed, chance missed. Like, say, a keeper saving it. Basic stuff, really basic.
  25. He's say it was a effing terrible penalty, ergo striker at fault, ergo miss. It's not like it was some wonder save. He fluffed it. It was sh it.
