average start so far, but if we managed to pull a shock at liverpool and follow up by beating palace it would be a fantastic start and peoples expectations will go through the roof , on the flip side though lose tomorrow and fail to beat palace its going to be suicide watch on here and people calling for pochs head, im sticking with 6-10 though think we will start clickin soon and we are in a position to have a decent season, im happy with most of our first 11 apart from maybe jay rod and lallana id rather see ramirez play better first touch and more creative

i think 6-10th is realistic we should be competing with the swanseas and evertons this season maybe 6th is a big ask but we are definately progressing nicely i think we have a better squad then most of the the other clubs outside of the top 6

Yes he put in a good ball for osvaldo.. But how many other chances did osvaldo get ? We have a 15m striker in osvaldo is one chance a game acceptable for him? If not who do you point the finger at?

When you look at how our players are delivering what is expected from them, Jay rod all lallana are definately the weak links, the defence is doing a job, the defensive mf pairing of schneiderlin and wanyama are doing there job of protecting the back 4, the 2 strikers lambert and osvaldo are both quality but both need service. This is where we are struggling the creative side of the game to make the chances for lambert and osvaldo ,playing both of these 2 up front together is like having one less man to do the creating leaving it down to the inconsistent lallana and rodriguez, Maybe ramirez and ward prouse can do a job? But this is the problem area everything else looks good.

Agree i have always been a fan of ramirez and against rodriguez. Trouble with rodriguez is he has no first touch and no technique everything he does looks rushed and clumsey,even the couple of crosses he managed to dig out in the second half his first touch was so bad he was fighting to keep the ball in play. Lallana is also starting to wind me up at least he has some talent unlike j rod, But as soon as he gets into a position to do anything constructive its like he gets mental block, awfull first touch yesterday after brilliant play from osvaldo to put him in, in general though lallanas decision making is looking really poor. Ive always thought ramirez looks a class act at times he looks world class, Its so frustrating to see your best creative talent still on the bench, when the championship standard clowns jrod and lallana continue to make mistake after mistake

Its been a good window. If you had offered me osvaldo and wanyama before the start of this window id have been happy. We have strengthened the spine of our team with three signings top 6 clubs were interested in,thats progress. And im also still holding hope on gaston coming good he comes under way to much critcism on here i see a classy player in him

The other good thing about cortese is he implement what he wants from the top, Pocchetino might do a great job but i wouldnt be afraid of losing him.pardew adkins, both done good jobs but you are only as strong as your chairman/owner. Ive always been a massive fan of cortese,every promise he has made he has delivered and we just keep getting better and better under his leadership. Going into administration was a blessing in disguise as under lowe we were rotting away. As far as im concerned nicola should be looked upon as a legend, because we are entering our best period since the keegan days :-)

Its not over yet i think we will probably still get him, 80 percent of reports are still suggesting ossie to saints not sure where these spurs rumours are coming from, maybe getting confused with spurs after lamela and pjanic. Plus why would ossie go there to play second fiddle to soldado?

I watched romas pre season game against greek side aris solonika last night, osvaldo was on bench. He came on about 60 minutes with roma 1-0 down and played quite well within minutes they equalized with osvaldo and burdisso going for same ball it was burdissos goal though, roma ran out 2-1 winners but definately looked better with osvaldo up front

Yeah i was reading a old man utd forum thread on banega the other day there fans were drooling over him too,he was being compared with modric but was said to be much more solid in the tackle and have a much better final ball, they also said he totally dictated the way valencia played. I watched him against barcelona last year and remember him looking **** hot in that too. Wanyama could be an absolute rock as a dm but i think we were pretty solid with cork and morgan anyway, that said i am happy if we sign him i just think banega could have give us something extra creatively. Hope we still go for him but if not gaston could very well step up if we play him in the hole

Banega looks quality,but would this mean the end of gaston playing in the hole? If we can get ramirez playing behind the striker and too his full potential hes the main man for this position, would be great to be able to fit both into the side though

Lets be real here though , things might not be going great for him at the moment . But you can see he has so many top attributes to his game surely? First touch, flair, a belting left foot dribbling skills, strength on the ball, i can see all these attributes in gaston big time . I think he could be a really special talent we just need to nurture him and use him to his strengths, ie in behind the striker.

Barry, whats with your constant ramirez witch hunt? You claim to be a saints supporter try actually supporting and cut the lad some slack. Ramirez season has been a bit stop start due to injuries and fitness but he has shown signs of a top top player. To be honest i dont think he is working as well under pochetino as he did adkins either , poch seems to prefer davies or playing gaston out on the right where he looks less effective, his most impressive games came when he was playing in the hole. I think we should get off his back and see how he looks after getting a full pre season with us i think next year he could be a real star

i have always thought he is a superstar in the making, he has practically everything you would want in a playmaker and could be as good as a kaka given time, theres not many i would say that about, i think lack of fitness/run of games hasnt helped. but if you cant see that this boy is a bit special then i question your knowledge of football

why is everyone on gastons back lately ? anyone with eyes can see hes one of our most skillful players, hes got a hell of a shot on him even if he hasnt scored a screamer yet u can see hes got it in him, and he can also beat players for fun. i honestly cant believe you guys prefer jayrod to ramirez, jayrod gets the ball stuck under his feet or scuffs his shot 90 percent of the time the puncheon goal saturday came from another bit of jayrods woefull finishing i know he puts a shift in but seriously its like prefering ormerod to berbatov!
