This game was the test for me, after the cup win could AP motivate the players? Would the players respond and produce a performance to keep the play offs dream alive................ Something not right IMHO, if you play football you want to win, win , win, win and win again. We do not seem to have the mental strength to produce the consistency we need..... So promotion as league 1 winners next season?????

I am in the States at the mo, anyone know any sites showing the game or know where I can listen to commentry please?

I was there last night, it was utter crap. We played without imagination; resorting to hoof ball too often. Yes the pitch was bad, the floodlights were poor and with mist and rain conming in visibility must have been poor for all players. We should be able to rise above these lowly clubs. Without Morgan, James and Connoly we lack that inventive edge. Punchy looks a good buy but went out of the game in the last 15, primarily cos we didnt pass the ball to him - there was one occasion late in the second half when I think Hamond or Wotton had the ball in the middle of the park; Punchy was unmarked wide right and the ball was played left to AL who had 3 players round him. But all is not lost. 10 home games: 9 wins and a draw 6 away: 3 wins 3 draws. That's 40 more points giving us 78 points. Think that might get us in the play offs. Next 5 are crucial to get us believing again, 5 wins, Walsall, Huddersfield, Tranmere, dirty Leeds and Swindon no probs and all the negative comments will disappear. Remember the last 20 league games has seen us lose only 3, draw 6 and win 11. Is that really that bad??

Let's put this into prospective: First 10 league games: W1 D6 L3 pts: 9 Last 18 League games: W10 D5 L3 pts:35 Think there is a big improvement. The average pts total for finishing 6th in League 1 over the last 6 season is 73.6pts. the past 2 season 76 pts has been needed. From 18 remaining games we need at least 40 points, ie 12 wins 4 draws. I think that is very possible. If we take all games from the beginning of October we played 26: W18 D5 L3 That is a very good return!! Get behind the club, the team, the manager and you never know what will happen!!! COYR!!

Draw at 90 mins and then go out on pens. The league has to be our main thrust this season. We have put ourselves in the position to push onto the play offs, so frankly a day out at Wembley would wonderful, but at the play offs final 29th May 2010. We do not need three more games; it's three more games that risk injury and suspension to key players. OK rest the 5 key players and if we win well do the same in the area final, but we must rest our key players for the league matches.

Has to be the league. We are only 9 points off the play offs now. Let's face it we maintain our form and no one will want to play us. All we need to do is sort out our defence and stop conceding stupid goals. Clean sheet and 3 goals a game and we will be there. Frankly the JPT is a waste of time. All the effort to beat Charlton costs us 3 points against Brighton. FA Cup: would be nice to drawn against a prem team, Skates at St Marys, but let's face would we really win the cup? Another distraction. league must be our priority, we are good enough so let's go for it.

Cortese offers you £5m on Jan 1st...what would you do?

Let's face if we are to push on we need at least 3 players in the transfer window. Trottman is not good enough, dont sign him. Papa has potential, if only he'd learn the offside rule; Antonio he has potential and no team likes a player runing at them with pace. Then we need another goal scorer, we rely on Lambert, Connolly and Lalana to weigh in with important goals. if we get two of these injured at the same time we will stop scoring. So goal scorer is a must in January. Defence needs strengthening; rarely do we keep a clean sheet; so a centre half and Left back. Midfield again we probably need one quality player. So I think if AP had 5M he needs 4 players and then it will be the play offs!! -
keep it tight and dont score anymore I have 3-1 win for Saints in the prediction league!! COYR

We should be looking to add at least two quality players.* One midfielder and one striker.* I think we are covered in defence but need more in the forward and midfield.* The more quality players the more the competition for the starting line up can only be good for the team.* If Lambert, Connoly, Lallana, Hammond all got injured we would be in trouble!!* Need more cover.Play offs are a very realistic target.* Frankly I cannot see anyone beating Saints at the moment.

About time someone reccognised LJ! He was brilliant last season and even better this time round!!
-
2-1 win, no 4 straight win in the league

Where do you expect Saints to finish this season?
Ian the Red replied to Pancake's topic in The Saints
I have always felt the play offs will be possible, now I might even go for 2nd automatic promotion place!!! -
As usual ref favours the other team
-
Come on you reds!!

The problem with Wotton is he cannot pass, cannot tackle and cannot shot.......... so the question uis why is he in the team? Gillet is a much better option

Swindon V Saints, second half fight back chat
Ian the Red replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Think we need a least 6 new players rather quickly -
Poor result, poor performance according to Solent. Plenty to do for AP. A couple of midfielders and a couple of centre halves needed very quickly!

Gr8 thread to the most deserving and greatest player ever to play for Saints. I have had the huge pleasure of meeting Matt on a several occassions; he is a true gentleman and cannot do enough to help people. I am very luckly that I have witness every home game and many away performances from the great man. Some of his goals will never be reproduced by any other player; he simply was a hugely gifted player who remained loyal to the club that he loves. He is the greatest Saints player I have seen play in red and white; including Micky Channon, Peter Osgood, Terry Paine, Chivers, Keegan, Ron Davies, Stevie Wiliams, Nick Holmes and many, many more! I agree that we should at the very least have a Matt Le Tiss stand or even better a statue next to Ted. COYR!!

Itchen Block 4... cant wait for the season to start!
-
He walked out on us once........................... never forgiven him for that; he thought he was bigger than the club. No we definately do not want him back in any capacity.
-
Which block?
-
Block 4 or block 3??
-
Was thinking Itchen North......
-
I have had a season at The Chapel since we moved to SMS but now its going to be the Family Enclosure where should I move to? The Northam or the corner of Itchen/Northam? Unlike many in the Chapel we make noise. Any suggetsions on where best to sit for atmosphere, noise

Block 18 row w and above. Will be renewing my season ticket today. Right behind tehgoal great view. There is a group of us who make a lot of noise, wake some others around us! Was thinking of switching seats but if there is going to more noise I'll stay.......
