Out for the next few weeks. You have to feel this was his last chance to really stake a claim with JayRod out.
-
It was clear that there would be an additional appointment to the board, I had hoped it would have been John Williams. Ultimately Gareth's success can only be measured over a longer period of time. If I remember correctly, when he got the interim position the general feeling was that he didn't have the necessary qualifications for such a position. Clearly he's made a positive impact though so hopefully it turns out to be a positive move in the long run.
-
Yet again! He's a class act.
-
It is vital that he stays. I'm slightly concerned by his pre and post match comments though, which often came across like a public interview for the Tottenham position.
-
The same thing crossed my mind. I believe there is still a role for John Williams in this board structure.
-
Not sure how you came to that conclusion.
-
Most impressive interview I have heard, however I do think we need to fully prepare ourselves for one or two of the 'golden generation' to be moved on this summer to provide further long term funding for the club.
-
Summed up my feelings perfectly. I have been left more sceptical than encouraged.
-
Would be my line up for this one. I hope VW puts the boot in on Bradley Johnson.

Post Match Reaction: Crystal Palace 0-1 SAINTS

Second hand gag, funny nonetheless. -
Agree with most of that, but I don't think we can afford to drop Davis. Not only has he been our most consistent player of late he also provides that additional midfield cover when Ramirez will undoubtedly go roaming. In normal circumstances I'm not a fan of Rodriguez up front but with Toure in defence and the creativity of AL and GR behind I think he could do a good job this weekend. Boruc Clyne - Fonte - Lovren - Shaw Wanyama - Schneiderlin Ramirez - Davis - Lallana Rodriguez

I'm going to sit well and truly entrenched on the proverbial fence until his role becomes more defined. He clearly has beneficial skills and expertise to offer, however his success will only be determined by the way in which KL is planning to utilise them.

Most Premier League clubs have a London office. Usually it is their commercial divisions that are based there.
-
Really? He was absolutely dead on his feet, I'm surprised he didn't go off sooner to be honest.
-
Didnt want it, simple as that. The fans who travelled deserve a full refund, credit to them.
-
We'll win, but it may not be as comfortable as it could have otherwise been.

Its so easy to over analyse things when your looking so intently for answers. The following article can be construed either way for example - http://www.clubcall.com/southampton/saints-future-excites-pochettino-1709222.html? On the one hand he is encouraged by our prospects for next year and beyond, while on the other he could be softening the blow of his impending departure by insisting the club will survive and has a good future. Its best to wait and see in the summer, a lot of things require far more clarity not just the managers position.

I agree to an extent, however Stoke we're pushing fairly high up (prior to the final 15mins) and we got caught under too much pressure in our own box from goal kicks etc. With VW's distribution I could have seen them scoring from one of those instances; Cork has a nack of playing his way out of seemingly impossible situations.
-
To be honest, all that sort of stuff makes absolutely no difference to me provided results and progress continues on the pitch. I'm also not convinced that it would be KL driving these changes (i.e. inviting back Franny Benali), more likely to be her appointed PR team.
-
Wow, where to start... First things first, justice somewhat prevailed that Cork was brought on at half time after Wanyama limped back to the changing room. I cannot put into words how important Cork is to the way we play, he allows so much more freedom to the whole team, filling in as full backs push on and providing tenacious support to the other midfielders. Steven Davis....what a player he is! I don't think I have ever witnessed a Southampton player with the energy and reliability that he possesses. I actually believe he is now one of the first names of the team sheet and rightly so. I'm so proud to see our side built on such a strong English foundation, and our front three were a joy to watch in the second half and fully deserved their goals. Very very hard to pick a man of the match, they all deserve special mentions! Fantastic to see the passion etched on the players faces as they celebrated each goal and at the final whistle, particularly Adam Lallana who applauded the fans while thumping the badge on his chest, you can see how much it meant to him. The same can also be said for Luke Shaw. If Carlsberg did away days!!

Completed (according to often accurate Twitter accounts)

Looks an absolutely cracking signing on paper. Big test for him to step up to Premier League though and they'll be expecting results instantly.
-
I'm intrigued to know whats changed from 2 days ago when Mopo seemed to suggest we would definitely be bringing one in. My personal guess is that we were confident in signing Holtby but he ended up at Fulham.
-
I meant to make the move permanent. I'm pretty sure he still had a year to run on his contract?
-
Clearly a very popular member of the squad so in that respect will be missed, however Championship is most definitely his level. Would be intrigued to know what fee we got for him.
