This link working for anyone? Mine just keeps timing out now.

Oh dear, I often question whether half these people have ever even watched Saints.
-
Prior to Ramirez signing, Steven Davis was our highest earner on £30k pw.
-
Sums my thoughts up down to a tee!

Having the same problem. Such a League 1 standard website. Don't they know we're in the Premier League now. Jeeeeze
-
I think that would slightly undermine the other coaches if GN came in only for a week.
-
I completely agree. He was one of our best players against Man Utd in what was his best performance for the club so rightfully kept his place against Arsenal and should do against Villa also.
-
Everton considering move for Boruc.

Im absolutely with TDD on this one, no way we should drop Puncheon after his performance - it sets completely the wrong precidemt amongstbthe squad, you have to reward exceptional performances. I'm expecting Ramirez to come off the bench. The only change if it all would be Yoshida in for Fonte. Does anyone know when the international players (particularly Yoshida and GD) returning from duty. If memory is correct, they will only end up having a day or two's training prior to the Arsenal game. Id question whether that is enough to pair up a new CB partnership ahead of playing a team like Arsenal, despite how awful Fonte is at this level.
-
Despite my thoughts on the Ramirez signing (delighted), I agree with Alps that the defence hasn't been strengthened sufficiently. For arguments sake, let's say Yoshi fills in at left back instead of Fox, we still have the massive calamity in the middle that is Fonte. We needed another left back so that Yoshi can slot in the middle so we can take our two biggest weaknesses out the starting lineup. I

He looks even fatter than Paul Robinson.

I think we can forget about this now, was nice while the dream lasted.
-
....he's going to sign for Sydney
-
That would just be more square pegs in round holes a la Rodriguez playing LW.
-
That's the crux of the problem though, there is no excuse for deals falling through as an explanation as to why we have only signed one CB who is untested at the highest level (hopefully he will be excellent!). Deals will always fall through which is why we needed several back up options. They simply have not been as big a priority as signing attacking players. I am delighted with the signing of Ramirez but I really do not think it was a case of sign him or invest in defence. We clearly had more money to spend with the other players we were supposedly in talks with (Phillips) etc so there is no defending the fact we have apparently not strengthened such key areas sufficiently.
-
The CB issue has been a constant problem for our last 2/3 windows now. I'm just astounded that we have found it so hard to finalise a few options who we deemed to be good enough and acted upon it. While I'm sure we have made efforts I just don't see that it has been a priority and fear it could well be our downfall this season.

Woooooooot!

What with links to Benayoun and now Zaha.....possible back ups to Ramirez?! NOTE I don't believe Zaha rumour at all
-
Sounds like BS, but as if NC would agree to that.

I'd hazard a guess at My Oooooo! Car -
Don't know why your asking on here....nobody knows
-
That's that then....when is he being announced?
-
Everyone would agree with you on the CB situation and you have valid grounds to be concerned with that, but it's no secret and the club are well aware of this. Let's just wait and see the state of our squad once the window is shut, we've all waited a couple of months, we can wait a couple more days by which point we'll be in a far better decision to pass judgement on our transfer activity this year.
-
But that simply doesn't happen....alas your going to be very disappointed every year. The majority of players worth signing won't be released until the selling club know they have maximised the sale fee and/or sourced suitable replacements. This is nature of the beast with transfer windows so I would suggest you get used to it as until the transfer regulations are altered things won't change. There are obviously particular circumstances when we can sign adequate players but I'd rather wait to sign players far better than what we have.
