Are Tadic and Pelle upgrades on Lallana and Lambert?
aintforever replied to simo's topic in The Saints
Hope so, they certainly have potential. It's a big ask though, I think Lambert was involved in something like 46% of Saints goals last season (the same percentage as Suarez for Liverpool. It would be interesting to know what percentage Lallana and Lambert were involved in. -
The only thing I have issue with is the "Premier League can no long attract the best" - it never has. Can't argue with what he says about Saints.
-
It's good that she's stepped down, it was a bizarre decision to have someone so closely linked in charge of it. If there was widespread abuse going on in the 80's then there should be plenty of victims around now to report the offences to the Police. The plod will have to act on any complaint in today's climate.

Reading those it looks like it will be 5-3-2. Shame Shaw's gone, he would have done well as a wing-back.

Liverpool fan reaction's to Suarez - are they for real...

Back to 5th/6th for Liverpool next year, would be great if they implode, put a sh!t load of pressure on the deserters. -
Things could be worse - your memories of 2007-2009

Same here. Those lower league years all seem to merge into one for me, can only really think of a handful of games I can remember off the top of my head. -
Only annoying thing is that without a brand logo the club badge should be central.
-
Very nice, two good kits. Well done Saint's kit designer person.
-
Beattie can say whatever he wants. I don't get why everyone starts bed-wetting as soon as someone says something slightly negative, we've learned from the past that this things often turn out to be true.
-
Agree 100%. I hated all this "isn't it nice he's gone to his childhood club" ******. We gave away our most important player for a song and basically sent a message to the entire squad that if you fancy moving somewhere else we will not attempt to stand in your way.
-
We are in a bit of a unique situation, I can't remember any club losing this amount of quality players and management in a summer before. If it is handled well and we could improve the position of the club, it is a great opportunity to strengthen the squad. But make no mistake, if we buy the wrong players, don't invest enough or if the manager isn't up to the job, we could get relegated easily. The Premier League is so competitive, it is a very fine line between where we were last year and relegation.
-
At least it's clear why Cortese jumped ship, he sold a bunch a players his pipe-dream and got the hell out before the inevitable happened, I expect he left a big ****ing debt for the current board to clear up as well.
-
Maybe the difficult financial position he was talking about was because the owner wanted to take £50mill out the club?
-
This, he already knows the boards intentions. I have a horrible feeling the club's plan is for Lallana, Shaw and Lambert to be replaced by Ward-Prose, Targett and Gallagher in an attempt to showcase how wonderful our academy is.
-
Problem is we might have to, we're not in a position where we are just adding players we like to the squad, we are going to have to fill key positions even before we get to think about replacing the players who were not good enough last season.
-
If I had to put my house on it I would say 4, a relegation fight but narrow survival.
-
To be fair business is about making money and big Kat has pulled in almost £60mill so far this summer.
-
Having seen how easily Spurs blew 100mill on sh!te I am actually quite reassured that we are taking our time. However if we leave it too late it will be a complete disaster, with so many outgoings we need to get something like a settled side before we kick-off the season.
-
It does appear that Cortese did miss-sell a dream to the players and we have been left in a bit of a sticky situation. CL qualification was a realistic ambition as long as the money was there - which it obviously wasn't. If we can buy wisely and stay up next season we will be in a very strong position going forward though so it's hard to criticise the Don too much. I expect the only way we could attract the likes of Lovren was to convince them we are going to be the next Chelsea.
-
Like it, great to have the stripes back - we are Southampton again! We will probably get the relegation scrap back too as well though. I haven't brought a kit for donkeys years but might just buy this one to make a point - it's refreshing to not have our club's look dictated to us by an asshole chairman.
-
I refuse to believe we will be playing in that sh!te next season. Must be a wind up.
-
that can't be serious

The Flip Side - Very Compelling Project For Koeman
aintforever replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
I think we should be happy with staying up. Next season is going to be a transitional phase regardless of wether Koeman is good enough for the job or not. He may make some astute signings and actually improve the team overnight but there is potential for next season to go spectacularly downhill. The last few seasons have shown the value of having a settled, happy squad. -
Lallana completes move to LFC for a fee of around £25m
aintforever replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
If Suarez joins Arsenal and says he was dreaming of playing for them whilst playing against them for Liverpool you scousers would want blood.
