Ahhhh.........that was in the good old days of football when going to a game was like going to the gym, bit of boxercise, bit of running either away or into the fray, dart dodging, and if you were lucky you could recoup the cost of your ticket by picking up all the loose change that often rained down upon you, for some reason the authorities thought that the 10 day lead time would quell any needle that might be hanging over from Saturdays game 2-3 days before. I always thought that 10 days gave the psychos enough time to get their logistics sorted for an even bigger ruck. Blimey going to this years World Cup could be like popping along to one of those Sealed Knot re-enactments of the English Civil War. Back to WG’s original comment - wasn’t the second replay venue decided on the toss of a coin?

This shouldn't affect too many of those travelling up north for this one, unless there is an issue on the A34. From the north of Hampshire the other route to the M40 is via the A404M from the M4 at Maidenhead to the M40 at High Wycombe, this approach to the M40 is closed for this whole weekend. Which might in turn punt a bit more traffic onto the A34. Like I say for the majority it won't be an issue.

Has anyone else had a crack at the Quiz that the club post on the O S at the end of most weeks. I have always liked football, I guess making the trips down the Saints from North Hampshire in my early teens cemented that. I hated Rugby Union probably because at the same time it was the first sport on the PE agenda at the school I went to, but jeez what (to me at the time) a frustrating game, all the games teacher seemed to be doing was blow his flipping whistle every 5 seconds, bizarrely I did enjoy watching Rugby League I guess because of the flow of the game by comparison. As I have gotten older I can quite happily sit through a 6 nations game and more often than not enjoy it, I suppose it’s a bit like never really enjoying Red Wine in my late teens and early twenties, and now it’s the first thing I peruse on the win3 list in a restaurant.

Am I missing something here?! Boycott the next away game against WBA? Which I believe is this coming Saturday? Today is Thursday so today - tomorrow- Matchday. I would imagine that like me most people will have already got their preparation to go sorted 2 days before an away game, so the only thing they would be doing is shooting themselves in the wallet and foot at the same time. Club wouldn't give a tinkers cuss because they would have already have recouped the bulk away ticket allocation outlay.

As someone pointed out a couple of years ago, under the current fair play money rules that now exist in the Football League. If today was the day Markus walked into the club sat in league one, we would not have been able to rise back to the top in the style and speed that we did due to the spending restrictions now in place. Newcastle (and probably Burnley) was an anomaly as they seemed to manage to keep some good players in their squad after relegation, which enabled them to bounce back, look at so many others who have dropped through the trap door they have languished in mid table or lower ever since. Anyone thinking it will be a cake walk should the worse happen ain't living in the real world of football.
