I think that is in year two after the takeover. Besides its not as if they need an academy as they don't use them!
-
That really sums up what they do, run the business on a promise rather than reality!

Richardson is OOC this summer.

Is our current side being competitive in premier league?

Is that from experience Mr Negative? -
So why let the player leave now? Something must be up! HNW running out of money, realisation that its better to save now before its too late, cheaper plays coming in???

The January 2013 HCDAJFU thread...
Doctoroncall replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
West Ham United have been rebuffed in their attempts to secure Martin Olsson after Blackburn Rovers rejected an offer worth around £2m for the Sweden defender. A number of top-flight clubs are interested in the defender, who has been capped 14 times and featured in Sweden's 4-2 defeat of England in Stockholm last November, with the east London club first to make a move. Yet an initial offer has now been rejected with Rovers, who are 13th in the Championship and under the caretaker-management of Gary Bowyer, having apparently told West Ham that the player will not be sold. That resolve will be tested again before the end of the month, with Allardyce now considering an improved bid. West Ham have already added Joe Cole and Marouane Chamakh and are keen to strengthen their team as early as possible in the current window. -
euros to pounds = 1.62m

I've been to see Basel a few times while away with work in Switzerland, mostly CL stuff as it's mid-week, then back to the same hotel the oppo are staying at! Otherwise I watch out for West Ham (family connection) and Cambridge U (local team) results.

Anyone Else Uneasy About The Money Side Of Things?
Doctoroncall replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
1 - You highlighted most so expect a little drop in value, even though players will have gained PL experience. 2 - Depends on the player, if we'd signed a load of 30+ year old players then no, on large wages, again no. 3 - Depends on the fee paid and value of the player (e.g. Clyne vs Mayuka) 4 - Cortese is a good negotiator 5 - Depends on how much we need to claw back quickly -
Anyone Else Uneasy About The Money Side Of Things?

Oh yes! If Saints happen to get the two players being mentioned in their respective threads, it would go along way to help secure PL status but there will be quite a few players leaving if we go down as I don't think the likes of Gaston will be interested in Championship football. So the club will recoup most of the transfer cash, have the PPs but will have to start building a team again, although JWP, Chambers, Reeves et al are likely to get more games. -
He'll be 27 next month, so at the top of his game. £4m is a good price, hope he does well - he helped get us up and seems a good lad.
-
It's better that he partners Yoshida than Fonte, that's for sure. Obviously has some talent with his time in Europe but I don't think we have seen close to it yet, hopefully we see it Saturday.

Thats good to know.

Dont say lie, that's negative, call it playing out a certain scenario ;-)

Really, you cannot extrapolate information? Ten games ago they were five points ahead and a better goal difference. Performances have been poor. With our difficult fixtures to the start of the season, every team was above us but that has changed.
-
It's like saying we'll hit 100 goals conceded in the season after the first five or six games. How are we doing in that respect TDD?
-
Ok, thought it was the phone as you can't turn an app off as such. Thought you'd be able to use your computer you're synced it with your phone or use Bluetooth.

14 points from the last 10 games, better than all the bottom teams except Norwich who have the same!!!

Doctoroncall replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
As there isn't one yet! LINE-UPS- Southampton v Chelsea (1500 GMT) Southampton: Boruc, Cork, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw, Puncheon, Steven Davis, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Do Prado, Rodriguez. Subs: Kelvin Davis, Hooiveld, Lambert, Lee, Mayuka, Reeves, De Ridder. Chelsea: Turnbull, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Luiz, Mata, Hazard, Moses, Ba. Subs: Hilario, Lampard, Torres, Oscar, Ferreira, Marin, Bertrand. Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral) -
IF there is this investment, it maybe tied up for a period of time so unable to get to it without penalty (especially as we achieved PL status ahead of the five year plan). All ifs, buts and maybes. Personally I don't think there is this pot of money, happy to be wrong though!
-
I was trying to remember when that happen, as I thought the same. If United, Liverpool want to take their share of the TV money under seperate deals I don't think the premeir league will be a viable entity!
-
So what is it that isn't acceptable under the FFP rules?

But there are those that find it hard, like an addiction, an insatiable craving for food or types of food... so nothing to do with will power and discipline. I find it easy to shed a few pounds, cut down on the carbs especially chocolate and other sweet things or more exercise and its gone. A friend finds it extremely hard and has found low carbing (avoids the hunger feeling) and The Harcombe Diet to be very useful.

Who we've been linked with for January thread...
Doctoroncall replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Not the only one: "... there will be a niggling fear for the Southampton manager, Nigel Adkins, in his inability to find stability in goal. After Kelvin Davis's latest uncomfortable display, in the 3-3 draw with Stoke at the weekend, Artur Boruc returned to the starting line-up for the first time since October, and immediately fumbled the ball on two occasions early in the match. Adkins has assembled a team with several impressive attacking options but they will be threatened by relegation as long as Boruc, Davis and the talented by error-prone 21-year-old Paulo Gazzaniga bring uncertainty to the defence. A new keeper should be a priority in January, whatever the price." Mike Adamson
