  1. And they are welcome to one another, Batman! Underachieving Liverpool are pretty much the template for the underachieving FA. Good fit for Lollana!
  2. When he signed for Liverpool, a Scouse mate asked me my opinion on how his Anfield career would progress - "Barmby rather than Barnes" was my reply, and I'm sticking by that! He will fade at Liverpool then fade from football, and amen to that! Wouldn't want him back at any cost!
  3. Better and better every season and Champions League within five years is where the bar has been set, by Les - http://www.90min.com/posts/2112318-les-reed-southampton-want-champions-league-football-within-5-years
  4. He reminds me of a less capable George Lawrence, Targett on the other hand, Trigger from Only Fools and Horses. FFS!
  5. I think that there is more to this than a poor result, we've had many seasons of positivity in recent years but something is just not right at the moment; on and off the park. The Koeman brothers and the coaching staff look despondent and the players a group of individuals at best. We have good players coming back, but could do with signing some genuine first team options like Van Dijk and Austin, but I don't think we will.
  6. Nice to see the Spurs fanbase once again pushing Liverpool for the 'most deluded in football' award!
  7. You are looking at a top four side there, and if over this summer Van Dijk and Austin were added per se, it would be frightening. Hindsight is always 20/20, but what could have been...
  8. I for one am chuffed for the Cherries in getting two great results in their first two games in the top flight. We all know it won't last, and that their early momentum and feel good factor will fade, but credit where it's due! The main thing is they've got a cup final a week to look forward to until next May, and memories that will last a century...
  9. Bad time at Fulham with little defensive protection, but is obviously a very good keeper. Big, experienced, and growing in confidence, FF may struggle to get his place back when fit (a good thing for us). It's the third choice that fills me with utter dread.
  10. Those whispers are that Les is ON the game!
  11. Indeed similar. Would be interesting if we signed said Gonalons on a four year deal, and he kept Schneiderlin out of the French national side...
  12. Very good
  13. He'd be brilliant at that...
  14. Can you use it on shaving rash?...
  15. What odds on Lollana to Hull this time next year - the poor man's Nick Barmby
  16. A big lol from me (rare as rocking horse sh*t on here nowadays)!
  17. I saw him do this at Davos, he threw a pomegranate over an Alp. Arm like a traction engine!
  18. Reminds me of Deano too. Also a big unit and a bit of an old style centre half, which gives us options - sign VVD and centre back is probably our strongest position.
  19. Traditionally clearly not, as with the likes of Villa and Newcastle, but we should feel that we are a more attractive option at the present time; particularly for a centre half.
  20. I agree with all the other 'senior' posters above who mention Stevie Williams (in particular) and Micky Channon, but another who always sticks in my mind from that era was Channon's replacement, Phil Boyer - very tidy player, great for Saints and 26 goals and a Golden Boot in the 1979/80 season before his departure that summer. Transferred to Man City for £220k as a 30 year old (recouping half of the Keegan fee), crocked in his first game, and only 20 games and three goals for City in a three year spell (he'd managed 138 and 49 for Saints in a similar period) - career over thereafter. In more recent years, the centre back Richard Hall comes to mind. Great for Saints and left us pretty much in his prime at 24, looking a cert for an England call up, to join West Ham (fairly acrimoniously if memory serves, which was gutting), injured in a pre-season friendly for them, and only played seven more games as a professional. We are a local club, for local people; you can never leave
  21. The club should really offer both of them counselling
  22. Dream moves for all of them - like the recurring dream when you're falling into an abyss without a parachute! In reality the parachute will be activated in the next year or so and will be Hull, Sunderland, or WBA shaped...
  23. A somewhat subjective and self-serving research methodology, flawed on a number of levels; about 68! How very SKY...
  24. Very good Brendan Rogers is giving a motivational team talk after the Liverpool players return from their summer holidays - 'Now that Raheem has decided to leave us, if there are any f*cking idiots in this room, will they please stand up now!' After a long silence Adam Lallana rises slowly to his feet. 'Now then Adam, why do you consider yourself a f*cking idiot?' says Brendan. 'Well, I don't really boss' says Lallana, 'but I hate to see you standing up there all by yourself'...
