FFS, talk about the big I am! He's lost the f*cking plot! who's advising him, Max Clifford!?....

Gazza's goal against Scotland or Le Tissier's against Newcastle?
Miltonaggro replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
When Gascoine scored that goal the commentary went something like 'no other English player could have scored that goal!' As Saints fans we saw better week in week out in that era. Le Tissier scored ten better than that... -
Appalling show of grace from the Club and some fans

F*ck him and all who sail in him. Sorry if this sounds bitter, but that's because it is. COYR -
Koeman likes fielding physical, athletic sides. A lot of the players we are being linked with are monsters. A team that included Forster, Van Dijk, Witsel, and Pelle would beat the living daylights outs of Liverpool and Spurs. With Artur battling it out for the no. 1 jersey, it would be worth welcoming Osvaldo back as in KO impact sub ;-)

Sammy Lee worked as a part-time coach in the England set up when uncle Les was with England / at the FA. Reed's recommended replacement for Dodd and Williams most likely...

Cortese had started contractual talks with him (an adaptation of the Deer Hunter theme), but negotiations broke down. The new board has approached Rick Waller...

When Cortese was in place Reed's infamous ego was being kept in check by an even bigger ego. The best decision KL could make right now would be to employ an experienced, confident and plausible Club Chairman with top level experience without consulting Les first - John Williams...

I genuinely think the adoption of this (or one of the other 'classics') would add a few season ticket sales and push on the feel good factor - such an easy gain as well, particularly for a single season...

I sincerely hope that it's not a w*nk homespun job, as given the amount of decent lesser branded options seemingly available it would be a spectacular cock up. Blaming Cortese won't wash either given the timescale, Derby have just contracted with Umbro for a single season and it's negotiation and buying, not rocket science...

If this deal goes ahead or fails, the message is key if we are to become a 'different' proposition than other medium sized Prem clubs like Villa, WBA, Swansea et al. The message being that if you are prepared to destabilise our team and publically covet our assets you will ultimately have to pay through the nose and meet (perhaps an inflated) valuation to secure them. If KL sees SFC as a long term upwardly mobile investment, going forward this will be crucial in communicating to players, parents, agents, and other clubs the likely path of negotiation and highlight the 'Southampton way' of dealing with disruptive enquiries.

Encouraging from Koeman and the club if that's the stance. I can remember Saggy at West Ham constantly driving up the price for Rio Ferdinand and the collective press shrieking 'nobody will pay that!!!' - but they did. Saints are effectively saying make us an offer we can't refuse, and that'll do me...

Having thought the disposable 2003 Euro kit we wore against Bucharest was a world beater, this takes the biscuit. What a spectacular abortion...

As excellent a Rooney analogy as I've heard, sir! Nice one.

It's been an interesting few weeks, culminating in Koeman's appointment yesterday. If you watch the video interview he is genuinely excited by the prospect of taking the club forward, and unlike Pochettino he doesn't need to move on for the pension pot or to raise his profile. The man exudes confidence and if any of the senior players can't buy into that then it's probably best that they leave and take their chances elsewhere. In Lallana's case I think the ego had landed after the England call, but should England come back from the WC with their tales between their legs (and the usual press wake), he may experience a reality check. Shaw and Lovren are different cases, but as with AL it's a matter of valuation, and here it appears the scousers can't really afford to blow £50M on AL and DL, and I'm not sure the vastly experienced Van Gaal is overly keen on Shaw at the huge asking price. The crux, seems to be that the club have a valuation that they are sticking to and credit to them for that. There will always be bigger clubs where greedy players can go to earn more money, but a couple of sustained successful seasons and trophy hunts may see a team built for players who choose stability and career over a quick cash in. All good stuff!

Tonight's ITV poll is who starts up front against Uruguay - Wayne Rooney or Sandi Toksvig?

Loved Koeman as a player, uncompromising, world class doesn't quite cut it. A defender with a better scoring record than a lot of forwards, at his peak 200 appearances and 70 goals for a great Barcelona side. Can't wait to see him managing Saints, and fair play to the Board if Ronald's our man and a sizeable transfer fund has been agreed - after Pochettinos exit this was as much as they could do. I'm convinced Koeman is an upgrade on Pochettino in all areas, now let's see a Saints side do to the establishment what Holland did to Spain this evening! Ronald Koeman's Red and White Army!

And I think (and hope) you may be right Jeff...

I think the price tag in this case will be a potential millstone, and Lallana is the sort of player that needs backing from the fans and games - a dip in form up there and he'll get neither! If we get an upgrade manager, buy well, and keep the forward momentum we have an outside chance of finishing above Liverpool and Spurs next season, which would be excellent...
