Yes, some absolute crackers there. Two things struck me, how brave he was in going in after many of those 50/50s, and a tinge of sadness seeing the turnover of great players we've had, seeing Shaw, Schneiderlin linking up etc.
-
He has a far superior management record to Les, the box has spoken...
-
A central midfield partnership of Schneiderlin and Gonalons would be formidable. Quite possibly the stuff of fantasy for Saints, but formidable nonetheless. Come on Claude, win us over before a ball's kicked ;-)
-
More of a Fabrice Fernandes replacement, to be honest...
-
I heard that sorry tale too. Les Reed tried to do a Walter Raleigh style intervention to Rudi's grope in the lift and consequently got his head stuck in between them. Makes you wonder what might have been...

Having had a think, I now feel Manuel can be our Claudio - papa Southampton. I would however favour a younger number two, ideally Lawrie El McMenemy...
-
Agree with pretty much all of that...
-
In all of the 'welcome Ronald' pictures he looks a bit non-plussed, very different to when he joined Saints...

CONFIRMED: Juanmi signs for Real Sociedad

At least they get to add Westquay and the New Forest to the things they can tell their grandchildren... -
Sectionable in fact...

For middle aged Southampton fans you were the Leicester City of the 80s, for those under thirty you are a northern Aston Villa. One interesting historical fact is that Adolf Hitler lived in Liverpool before the First World War, obviously a fertile breeding ground for pathological entitlement, irrational delusion, and historical selectivity - though it's difficult to decide which team he supported.

Bally hitting the high notes!

Jabba the Jock!

Ui My opinion is on having agreed to the money, he has now actually seen the place and is contemplating a Volte face to manage Dynamo Damascus for a better work life balance...

Saints announce Virgin Media as new main club sponsor
Miltonaggro replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Because inter alia it's just acquired Liberty Global! Plus generally, globally more punters know Virgin than Veho... -
AVB has spoken very highly of Saints in the past, even comparing our academy to Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon. Would be happy to have him on board - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22410043

Saints announce Virgin Media as new main club sponsor

Proper international company. Well done Saints! -
To be fair that accolade is probably taken by the bigger, more successful club in Liverpool, along with tying scarves to railing and candlelit vigils. Everton were however the first club to install plastic seats in 1896...

Good luck on achieving your destiny as the northern Aston Villa.

If anyone deserves a second chance at management it's Les. Ralph can also be involved as the waterboy and aerobics coach...

FdB, Emery and any other good European coach.

Spot on, and even when they were doing 'well' they seemed a horrible side, also rans, an arrogant Ipswich perhaps - the club of John Bailey and Adrian Heath. The latter of course is a name that gives Saints fans of a certain age who were at Highbury a nagging bitter memory. However, despite Heath's smash and grab they were second best on and off the pitch that day, and en masse they can certainly run fast! -
Lol! Les Reed always reminds me of Gregg Wallace, he is to football what Gregg is to haute cuisine. By the same analogy I suppose Ralph is approaching Ainsley Harriot...
-
It's highly doubtful he'd live that long!

Would love Ron to stay, but if we have to replace him it's got to be Villas-Boas for me - his record over the past six years (Porto and beyond) is remarkably consistent and he would seem to be a good 'fit' potentially - tactically smart and lucid in front of the media. I would also not be unhappy with De Boer, who like AVB is currently out of contract and 'awaiting the next challenge.' I think it's safe to argue that in managerial terms both would be an upgrade on RK when he joined Saints, and let's not forget Southampton FC has been instrumental in strengthening the coaching careers of both RK and MP - we've been as good for them as they have for us!
