  1. Crackers isn't it! Even at Southend he would be earning a very decent wage. Head case...
  2. In which case a major gamble, on top of the gamble made in late summer. This could be the acid test for Reed's stewardship, but apparently against the grain of set policy (rare transfer forays in January). I reckon we will leave it late and get nowt, or Sturridge on loan with all kinds of fanfares. What we actually need to help Puel's system, as other posters have stated, is a big target man who can hold up and a mobile striker.
  3. After the deal Koeman wrangled out of the dugout pioneers, who can blame him!
  4. #Boro
  5. Everton peasants revolting en masse on Twitter. If we beat Watford by three goals tomorrow we go above them for the first time this season. We won't of course...
  6. This, precisely.
  7. Last minute goal from Be'er Sheva, put your shirt on it.
  8. Worse than propaganda football, at this rate we will be sponsored by Night Nurse. Moribund.
  9. Plus they can't afford him.
  10. Obvious to all in the summer. Very doubtful it will be addressed in January if we are mid table. Looking for Long to kick on.
  11. We would almost certainly return to the 'neutral' Twitter profile and the big lip. What a waste it would be...
  12. Instant karma...
  13. Gosh is that fat c*nt still alive!
  14. Fonte possibly, if the right money and a quality replacement coming in (get impression he has burnt some bridges), but not VVD in January. The talk of him going to Liverpool especially is utter nonsense, as you've got to be talking about a £50m plus bid, and they haven't got that kind of clout. I can see a centre forward and possibly centre half coming in, should Fonte go - both likely Puel targets from France. This squad is not far off from having excellent options in all positions.
  15. Brilliant. Setting up nicely for Saints v Man U final. Sims to score an offside winner!
  16. Happy birthday Micky, all the best!
  17. Steve Moran, by a country mile...
  18. Great player. Just what we need. Not a chance.
  19. My point. Smooth negotiating skills. Like gravel.
  20. £59 million.
  21. And a win tomorrow and we will be within striking distance of the deluded gobsh*tes...
  22. Yes, that's how I read the situation. I have known since the summer and have been deliberating whether to post. It could have the effect of strengthening KL's asset rather than relinquishing it, and avert some of the risk associated with development. Watch this space ;-)
  23. Not heard anything direct on grapevine at all about the prospect of a full takeover of SFC. What I have heard fairly frequently over the past few months from trusted senior practitioners in the sector (not the club) is that 'interested parties' are looking to buy up the land that abuts the stadium, including that on to the river. This is in a relatively advanced state. It could we be that Lander has been approached as a development partner to enable this to happen in partnership with the club, perhaps for a stake. Two and two together to make four, that's all, but it sounds feasible. That's my tuppence.
  24. If anything comes of this it will be a test of the new longer contract theory, as anything under the Stones figure for VVD would be an insult and a sale too far. I hope Reed publically states that he is not for sale, and would be subject of a record figure if he was. In that case Liverpool simply cannot afford him. I think what we are more likely to see is Fonte off in January, and VVD made skipper, with a replacement for Fonte from France alongside Virgil.
  25. I agree that we do lack strength in depth, particularly up front. I've also been very impressed (and pleasantly surprised) with the way that Puel has coped with the dearth of fit forwards, particularly given the number of games and need for genuine squad rotation. Koeman would not have coped so well with this situation, and this from a previous diehard Koeman fan. I think Puel is a thoughtful manager playing the long game, and will thus fully assess the entire squad and the rigours of the premier league before trimming and bringing in (relatively) expensive additions of his own, perhaps one from France in January, with two or three more in the summer. We were outplayed yesterday by a team that cost ten times ours, the best footballing side we've faced this year by a country mile, already looking like title contenders. No disgrace, onwards and upwards.
