Leicester are going back to Bristol City with yet another improved offer (their 4th) for Maynard. According to other reports I've read, they're also after Andy Johnson. Sven sounds pretty upbeat that he'll get Maynard this time. Also; I've just read that Charlton are interested in taking Lee Barnard on loan!

Rickie Lambert has had a very good start to life in the Championship - and I'm sure some on here are watching a different game to me! He's made goals for others - scored himself - and acts as a great foil because many managers see him as the biggest threat - allowing the likes of Connolly more time & space. And if Sir Rickie doesn't score 20 goals this season himself - I will cut off my penis with a rusty old bread knife!

Indeed. After all - that's why Arsenal paid £15m for AOC. They are buying potential - an investment. The likes of Walcott & Bale are both worth considerably more now than when we sold them - and AOC will (in all liklihood) go the same way. Rodriguez is definitely one for the future. He's young & very talented. No doubt Premiership clubs will be watching to see how he does again this season - whether he's progressed/got sharper/improved - and if he does do extremely well in this division, I have no doubt the big boys will soon come knocking - whether that's if he's with us, Burnley or whoever. £5m could turn out to be a very shrewd investment.

Serious question; how many squads in this division are actually better than Saints? West Ham? Leicester? I know they're probably every bit as good as our squad - but better? I'm not so sure anyone is. There are still more transfers to go through for all the clubs no doubt - but as it stands at this moment in time - I don't actually see any club having a better overall squad. As good as, yes. But better? Hmmm . . .

I'll never forget travelling up to Chelsea on New Year's Day 2002 and watching Beatts take Chelsea apart - with the help of the little Latvian! Beatts scored a superb free kick to open the scoring on 7 minutes - but we still went in at HT 2-1 down. We came out 2nd half though and were on fire. Marian & CMFG added a couple more about the hour mark before Beatts finished the scoring late on with his 2nd and our 4th. Brillaint display - and at a time when Chelsea were red-hot favourites and we (supposedly) had no chance! They had the likes of Terry, Lampard, Hasselbaink, Gudjohnsen, Gallas, etc. Great day for everyone there up from the south coast - and I got a lot of stick up at Stamford Bridge before the game with some nasty mouthy London geezers (without going into too much detail). Still, that was a great display - and it's the one game out of many that I will always remember Beattie for more than any other. He was sheer class that day - sheer class.
