  1. i like chaplow in that he makes good runs and gets into dangerous positions - more so than either hammond or Shcneiderlin - but his finnishing to date has been poor.
  2. Expansion is always a gamble - we might fill 50,000 when we are flying high - but should we fall back down to earth , the numbers will reduce similarly. I remember gates of 14k under the last season of the old regime. Im happy as we are now - no mortgage and a stadium that more than meets are current requirements. Sure id lovecit if we had 50,000 week in week out for a sustainable period, but not if it left us with huge debts and no means of meeting them - we have been down that road b4 - we might not be so lucky next time.
  3. Agree Adam is better player - not sure whether he has the pace and strength for the top flight but undoubtedly good enough for the championship. Would love him to sign a new contract with us. Felt sorry for Surman - he had to learn his trade during the crap dutch experiment, ie in a sinking ship. Adam has undoubtedly had the benefit of good players around him in last 12 months - an dhis game has come on leaps and bounds. .
  4. Was listening to the radio earlier - Nobby stiles sold all of his collection including world cup and european cup winners medals for a total of £200k this week - and they made the point that it was about what Rooney earns in 1 week !
  5. Yes, did we not open negotiations with him at that time ? Why not ?
  6. Did they mention top quality radio station and catering facilities as well
  7. Anyone here ITK on this one ? Surely the club have already approached him with an offer of an extended contract? Although im used to us losing our best young palyers - im looking at the situation with Adam as a real test of the new regimes ambition, and hoping we can retain him. Willl be v disapointed if we lose him.
  8. We have no choice but to support the current team, and see what transpires, and trust that they really do have a 5yr plan , with the necessary funds. It isnt clear whether they have or havent at this stage. On one hand it does seem very strange that as this is a key season in the 5 yr plan - the promotion to the championship season- why did we line up at the begining of this season weaker than where we ended the previous season? when the Manager had identified the areas where we needed strengthening ? On the other , it would seem odd for NC to continue in the role, making aspirational statements about champions league football etc, the redevelopment of staplewood , if he didnt have the necessary funds ? We are just going to have to wait and see what happens.
  9. Disagree . We can support - and still express a view as to what is happening to the football club, that is the nature of being a supporter, we support the club regardless of who is the chairman and what their current plans are - sometimes we will agree and sometimes not - but we will always be here.
  10. We are one dimensional - the loss and non-replacement of papa and antonio in the summer was a shocking error - not saying they alone would make everything ok, but they almost always changed the game in our favour when they came on .
  11. absolutely right, key to success is belief - and they dont have it right niw
  12. genuine question - where do you get this view that Papa wants to move on ? I havent seen anything that suggests that ( not saying you are wrong). Would be a real shame - these two really added to great moments of effectiveness and entertainment.
  13. The way i see it almost all football clubs are in a crap position - the mad economics of modern football as a' business' dictate this. It seems you have a choice between 1) massive debt - such as pompey, palace, liverpool etc - with the risk that you lose success on the pitch - you lose your club! 2) living hand by mouth- as saints did under the old regime - and again if something goes wrong ( ie relegation) - the odds are again against you or 3) have a wealthy owner - with the risk that you are tied to their whims. We are in situation 3 , which is better than 1 or 2 - but does mean we are reliant on ML's continued support. So i think we are in a relatively envious position - but am not unaware that are fortunes are tied to the motivations of our new owners- but cant see any better alternative at this time.
  14. But surely another answer is to buy good young foreign prospects such as Schneiderlin, and be patient with them ? If you have to sell, then sell high ?
  15. For me, his walk lap around the ground brought home what had happened to him and the club since the days when he was one of the best strikers in the premiership. Both the club and marion had completely lost our way and had sunk so low. I was stood next to my son, and as pahars was doing his lap round the ground, I was wondering whether we would ever see anyone of that quality again in a saints shirt. but we have turned the corner now , and we will be back - best wishes to marion too.
  16. Agree - he would do very well at CCC level - think he has been one of the most exciting players we have sen for a very long time. would love to sign him on a permanent basis.
  17. If he is sacked - can only be for things that we arent aware of ie the personal realationship between NC and AP , which means they wont be able to work together through the 5 yr plan. On a footballing basis alone it makes no sense in the short term - we are well set to get promotion next year, changing the manager may improve us , but also as likley , if not more, to set us back in the short term at least.
  18. Anyone know whether they will be parading the JPT trophy on saturday after the game?
  19. This............cant wait till we restore normal order againts them - hopefully in the season after next in the CCC.
  20. cant argue against Lambert, and then many of the others already mentioned. In addition, im really pleased we have Waigo and antonio - at times they are poor - but they also produce those moments of brilliance which really light up a game. Its great to have so many players that have real attacking skill - best saints team to watch for years.
  21. He is a real survivor if he is still in place - can understand him staying under the old regime- guess he knows where all the bodies are buried, but would have expected the new regime to appoint a new DOF.
  22. But isnt great that the kids can have a hero again. My son is 8 and sees lambert as a footballing god , and unlike his non-saints supporting mates, he gets to see his hero on the pitch. Thank you Rickie, Pardew , marcus and NC.
  23. What stands out for me is how few good players Harry and Burley signed, and they probably changed 40 or so players in their time with us . Burley had £7m to spend, when you think of what he did with it , it is truly, truly shocking. In contrast ,Pardew on the other hand has spent very well ( so far )
  24. some truth in this - if he complained more / fell over - think he would get more of the decisions. It isnt right but its the way it is.
