  1. Sitting on the fence ... Adkins has shown he has potential... he is still learning as well and gaining experience. So all in all you cant criticise what he has achieved. Whether its enough to get us up and keep things on track we will see in teh next few weeks. Whetehr his abilty to learn rapidly and deliver results at teh speed which which teh club (and fans) seem to expect is another thing. I believe he has the potential to be a very good manager and one day manage in the prem if he gets his chance, he is not ready yet, but could be in the next 3 or 4 years. That will be the cruncher - I dont think he is ready yet to get us out of the Championship - so whether he can learn quickly enough to get out to fulfill teh next step of the 5 year plan is what is most open to question. None of that should detract from what he has done this season so far and i for one think he has done enoght to deserve backing for a two year push to the prem... or can we do a Norwich and look at 2 promotions on teh trot... would that be too early? .... all fiun and games this speculation, but well done nige for this season... top results so far... just dont let the side do a McIlroy...
  2. .... plenty of Certified accountants on here I see..... We simply dont know what the terms are... looks to me like the original cost of aquiring the club has been factored in, as has some up front cash to rebuild the team... which has probably come from a 'company' set up by ML to 'loan' the cash to club for simple tax reasons... who knows. Its alos probably that this company or trust set up by ML will be paid back when in the prem as we become self financing or are sold... I dont know, but I dont think we need to worry.
  3. Just spilt beer on keys....
  4. Toughest game? Rochdale away will not be easy, Brighton away... although by the time Hudders play them, Brighton will definietely be promoted, may not be the case wen we play them so I think they have a good chance gainst Brighton... lots to happen yet as we have seen...
  5. LOL - ....it was definately your shower then? ;-)
  6. Nh dont knock - let it serve as a legacy of what this season has put us through.. still more inner turmoil and wierd stuff to come but I think the fat lady has least got out teh shower and is getting ready for her trip to the theatre - sure a long way from even the warm up, but the gig is confirmed.... ;-)
  7. Typical BHA and those Seagulls seem a tad obsessed about us... they should just be enjoying the great form that Poyet has got out of them and not really worry about the rest. Whatever they think of Adkins, had we had the points per game ratio that we have under him, from the start of the season, the game at teh withdean, could well have been the championship decider... I am sure Adkins knows the reality, but mathematically they have not won the league yet, so nothing wrong in what he has said...
  8. Pedant ;-) so shouldn't he have gone to Chalton? (see what I did there)
  9. What I want to know is whats wrong with proper names... cant we go back to the times when Footballers were cally 'Albert, Jack, Les,' and all that? 'Dale' thats a hill ;-)
  10. Strange how some wont let this go... mistakes made cost us in footballing terms under lowe, Wilde and CRouch with the last two also making financial errors... some would argue that the PLC status actually saved us in the end... It meant that the financial controls in place kept us breaking even - yes there were obvious limitations on the footballing side in that the club decided to borrow and invest in infrastructure (stadium./academy) which were long term rather than what many Prem clubs have done and borrow to invest in playing staff in the hope it ensures survival... each will have their own thoughts on this, but for me it was the right way to run the club. I shudder to think what may have happened had not had the PLC regs to adhere to when Lowe left as we saw very quickly how money in teh bank was spent rapidly on a do or die campaign to get us back up... one of those classic cases of had it been successful we would have all praised Crouch and Wilde, but as it failed, it ultimately led to our financial downfall. I think the communication on his return was something shameful as he it was never made clear to fans the harsh realities of our situation, the Pearson non-contract renewal or the truth about the finances that meant we were going to have to make do with the academy lads... but thats history... but as someone above has already said, the fact that we DID have the infrastructure in place, did not crap on our own dorstep in terms of the tax man, local businesses and charities - not to mention spunking 100mil on players - meant despite being in the third tier with -10 points we were still an attactive proposition for Markus because the potential versus investment was very good value... and that is in no small part to teh fact that we did for many years try and keep the finances under control - even at teh expense of ****ing off fans with minimal transfer spending in comparison to other prem clubs... would we really have attracted Markus if still at the Dell? Finally some of those down teh M27 have had teh gall to suggest its no different to their situation!... even suggesting we ripped off AVIVA... but if you consider what they did receive + the years of interest payments, it was not such a big loss for them to incur. The only slight brown stuff that sticks is that we did spend that 7 mil in the CCC that we should have really kept for the potential rainy day IMHO, but that cant be laid at Lowe's door.
  11. '...so much anger...tell me about your mother' Serious psychological help needed for some I think. Sure a downer conceding late on, with injuries to Lallana and Oxo... but FFS, did anyone REALLY think this was ever going to be easy? Jeez this is what makes the game so fecking entertaining/frustrating/interesting... get back on the fecking BUS! COYRs
  12. Feck - kind of agree with Alps! - The difference is that whilst from a mathematical point of view a loss tonight would just leave things as they were before the Peterborugh loss and so winning is not essential, building confidence, momentum and gaining teh psychlogiocal upperhand is really important - still loads of twists and turns, but think of how teh sqaud and fans will feel IF we did not take advantage of the recent other results - so that when/if we do slip up it amkes no difference - Plymouth away may not matter.... etc if we get teh points on teh board NOW.
  13. Just want to see that smug **nt Ferguson Jr miserable... what is it about that gene line that makes it so easy to hate them?
  14. Mrs had me on DIY duty til 5.19.59s... now on catch up! ;-)
  15. Belief.. confidence... thats all the lads need... once we got the first we had that spell as we took control of the game. Need to focus on our game and ignore what happens elsewhere for now. Still shed loads to happen in the next 11 games - need to keep the run going now... Beer O'clock
  16. Have to laugh at out 'doom and gloom' fans... OK so maybe its a legacy of the years of misery, that we have on general a quite pessimistic attitude, and thats fair enough, but why now? We win we carry on the march to promotion, we draw or lose we lose a bit of ground, but NOTHING is decided today and there will be great results andpoor ones along the way, same with our promotion rivals... but I bet their fans aren't all miserable feckers.... ;-)
  17. Must admit wish we were with Adidas - Bayern Munich shirt from last night looked good - http://shop.fcbayern.de/de/0/0/-fcb-Home--/
  18. Frank's cousin Played 20 mins for the 'home side' in a football aid match at SMS Was fat, unfit and huffed and nearly had a heart attack Was subbed on medical advice/because he was crap and replaced by a bloke even fatter - will never forgive Jimmy 'the gaffer' Case we lost 3-1 to the 'away side'
  19. Jeez what a bunch of girly nancies... this is what we should all be after - fecking exciting end of season scrap. Loads to happe yet, we may not get it, but is I suspect that its betwen us an Posh for second... the good news there is that if we have to settle for playoffs, I fancy our chancesmore without Posh bveing in teh play off mix... but thats based on curernt form. We can improve. Its still in or hands and even if it were not, there will be loads of twists and turns yet... come on, thsi is what the end of season SHOULD be about, and makes a real change form a relegation scrap.... ;-) Bring it on!
  20. ... had we not had that awful spell loosing 3 on teh bounce under the temporary man... maybe picked up 6 from 9 which given those games we should have... we would be 4 points behind BHA with them still to play.... would that have satisfied the neighsayers... ?? I had high expectations to, and have been disspointed to some extent that we have more of a fight on our hands than 'expected but we cant deny NA has doen a great job and that it aint going to be exciting run in... some of you sound like you dont actually relish competition which is arguably waht this game is all about? Bring it on I say.
  21. Well put... for me we were starting to combine bioth the results and style in performance before the lallana injury and crap in the paers about Oxo... and have struggled to regain that form since - possibly also Guly seemed to go off form a bit after we signed him full time... given where we are in teh season though, I'll take points over style right now as funnily enough in calculating the legaue table we only get points for winning games not for style ;-)
  22. I remember similar comments about Lallana a few years ago..... the lad slipped, after he realised that his foot was high and tried to pull out which is why it looks odd....
  23. For me looked liek Gobern changed his mind, tried to pull pout and then lifted the wrong foot/slipped... no malice, no intent, just a bit starnge...
  24. You get to see him all the time, and me stuck in Scotland.... Do you think he has been 'really' properly ft at all this season, or if his 32 years is catching up with his legs? I still think he can do a great job, but maybe linking with a pacy younger striker that can feed off his aerial wins? And he is then obviously still a threat IF we can get the ball wide and then into the box?
  25. Have we forgotten were we were.... have we learnt nothing from what is happening to other clubs? Whats all this **** about transfers and big spending? I thought many were 'embarrassed that we had such 'riches' already in this league? I would say well done Saints for 1) not selling big names, 2) Lallana's contract extension 3) being SENSIBLE in the transfer market and avoiding the permanent fan cliche 'we must spend more' .... We arr stable financially, when others are in the ****, and yet we want to question the management about not spending enough? The squad we have SHOULD be capable of getting promoted. Form and consistency are our problems which can effect ALL players no matter how expensive - If they want it enough we will go up end of. If promoted I can see spending in the summer - but expect younger prospects for that level that will will grow into a promotion winnning side of 2012-13, not 2-3 million spent on individuals... aint going to happen.... and I for one am quite gald about that.
