I did consider this when I read a comment about Damiao (allegedly) sending over somebody to checkout Southampton and the surrounding area. Not sure Southampton as a city has the ability to draw in the major players. Yes there are a few good restaurants, some nice boats, half decent shopping, the New Forest but nothing that could compare with the bright lights of London or Manchester.

Yes but it is a once (maybe twice) in a lifetime opportunity. I would be tempted if I was a Bmouth fan.

What I want is a club that is wiling to spend £10 million plus on players and invest heavily in the academy and improve every aspect of the club (except the stripes!). Its a kit, its for one season, time to move on.

Just seen the new giant poster things on the website and without meaning to sound like a happy clapper...... I like them. Our dream is real = Fair point, seasons ago we dreamt of Premier football and now we are there. Our time is now = Judging by the amount of money being speculated and the players we are linked with, we will soon hopefully be able to confirm that our time is now. Our vision is clear = European football. It may not officially be clear to supporters but NC and MP are selling the dream to the players. Our faith is strong = The players believe in each other. The only place lacking faith is on here after we lose or draw a game.

Sounds promising then. Would love it to be a high profile somebody to make everyone take notice and show other players we are a serious proposition, not merely relegation fodder! Can't see any of the first team going anywhere so will be some of the old promotion crew off, maybe Hammond or Sharp.

I have got no issue with the kit either positive or negative. It is merely a kit. I do find it insulting that Bristol City have the same template and that SFC are going to exploit fan loyalty by selling it for £50! I can't see us being in stripes again for a very, very long time..... while Cortese is here at least. In his eyes, stripes were struggling saints, the new saints play in red..... almost all red! Cant see many fans complaining if he delivers top signings, top half finishes and European football. All of which I think are more likely than stripes!

If the paper reports are true that Milan, Chelsea and Liverpool were interested then he must have something about him. I am excited that we are looking at this sort of player and for this sort of money. No more snaffling round released lists, trying to pick up a freebie. If £10+ million is the going rate for an international defender then it seems wise to spend it on a younger player with the possibility of some resale profit at a later date.

Maybe he is not the most mobile but he is a proven goalscorer. As for the system..... I am not sure that there is one judging by the absolute ****e we are producing tonight. Utter dross!

He may not be good enough but I feel that being the top English scorer in the Premier League entitles him to a place in the squad at least. Many said RL wouldn't be good enough for the Prem but he is. Now many say he wont be good enough at international, I would love him to get the opportunity to prove doubters wrong.

Lambert managed to score an impressive fifteen goals in comparison to Danny Wellbeck (1 goal), Wayne Rooney (12), Jermaine Defoe (11), and Andy Carroll (7). Southampton do not have the players to create the chances that these “goalscorers” get from their teams and yet Rickie Lambert has significantly outscored them. I fail to understand how you can state that the striking pool is small and the options are limited. The only limiting factor is your lack of vision, belief and trust in players that don’t play for one of the “big” teams. I was desperately hoping that your reign as England manager would lead us away from the unsuccessful years of only picking players from the top six clubs. Unfortunately it appears that, as so many before, you lack the ability to look at player form and ability without looking at the club badge first. I hope that you reconsider your selection policy in future squads but more so than that, I hope you start to think a little more about the sweeping statements that you make so offhandedly. Stating that the Premier League lacks quality strikers is a massive disservice to players such as Rickie Lambert, players who you are willing to belittle but not willing to give them the opportunity they richly deserve by calling them up to a squad . I think its generally accepted that football hooliganism IS bad. Thankfully the days of the 80's are a distant memory unless you are unlucky enough to be a fan of Millwall or a few others.

I would bloody annoyed if I was an ASFC fan if not true. Billy Sharp would be a massive signing for them. Imagine if MP had rocked up posing for loan signings done with his pals. If not true i think it shows Beatts isn't ready for management.

I think we are a much improved side side MP took over. While I am extremely grateful to NA for all he did for the club over the past few seasons, I did feel that he was a little out of his depth but more importanty I think he knew he was on borrowed time The interview after our promotion where he was talking about a parting of the ways, etc. Anyhow, I feel that the pressing game MP has brought in works well ad has worked well in the majority ofthe games since his arrival. There have been some games that have been very disappointing but every team has bad weeks. We have been creating more chances or opportunities to shoot even if they are not being taken, and all this with a team that he inherited. I am hopeful that with a full preseason, some astute signings (probably from La Liga) we have the potential to finish in the top eight. For the record I have about twenty £10 bets with mates at the start of the season that Saints would finish 12th or above so I did have faith in Akins too or the players at least!

There are admittedly one or two concerns about some aspects of the team but no need for this level of trolling! For weeks you have harped on about doom and gloom and even on the day we guarantee next season in the Prem you are still at it. We know Jos isn't up to it, nor Fox, nor several others but its time now for MP to do his stuff. Also, when NA was here you moaned about his inadequcies with regard to substitutions, yet offer no praise to the game changing subs made by MP. If it wasn't for the fact that you amuse me with your desperate attention seeking statements, I, as many others I presume, would have you on the ignore list. Its almost like..... it could be worse, I could live the fun and wholesome existance of Alpine. Keep it up!

Totally agree with the OP. Jos is a very one dimensional cb who is merely ok in the air. He lacks pace but also seems to lack the ability to read a game and a situation, always having to react and frequently lunging and fouling. He is as much of a liability going forward as his distrubution is simply dreadful. Enough has already been said of Fox and his inadequacies so no need to harp on, he simply isnt up to it.

How? Are you suggesting our form is clearly that of a team destined for relegation! One bad day at the office doesn't mean that the whole season collapses. No need to be so dramatic!

As usual on this forum, a combination of total bedwetters and happy clappers. We won't win every game and hae no right to win every game. Will we make Europe next season . . . No. Will we go down.... No. I don't agree with all this get rid of Gaston either. Many people wrote off Morgan at the beginning of his career in England and now look at him.

What is becoming even more blatently clear is that Jos and Fox are liabilities. Think we will need to score four to win this!

I think he will prove to be a fantastic player for us, with a decent preseason behind him. At present I think he is almost too sharp for other team mates and is seeing things that others aren't. Can't remember which present Saints player tweeted that Ramirez was world class but do recall Phil "Fizzer" Neville stating he was the toughest opponet he'd faced this year. Admittedly his set pieces were simply dreadful but next season i think he will be a star for us.
