  1. We had a golden opportunity but he defeat to west broom finished that dream I think. 9th is ambitious. 10th realistic.
  2. Would welcome him back and would probably be good for all concerned but come august I suspect we will have better
  3. I think the key here is that by only being 3 points off we COULD finish 10th and that is what we should be aiming for. By aiming for maximum points from the last 3 games it is highly unlikely we will be relegated. We seem to have more good games than bad so the chances of losing all three is highly remote. It's MPs job to make sure they are focused and deliver.
  4. To be fair, I'm not sure anyone was suggesting we get rid. Simply that he has not shown his best. Which is true on occasions. Other times he has been world class. I am sure next season he will be back to his best and predict he will get an England call up. Despite what people say, our four best players are Rickie, Adam, Morgan, and Ramirez.
  5. Fair point, i had forgotten they had both been recovering from fairly serious injuries. A good rest over the summer and a full pre season we could see two quite different players in august.
  6. Lol. I wasn't disagreeing with you. It's just the sheer irony!
  7. If you could sum up the fickleness of saints fans in a Lallana thread in just a few words this is probably it
  8. The joys of being a saints fan. Constructive criticism is fine but all these 'told you so' trolls are just tedious. credit due to WBA for their performance. When we beat Liverpool, city and Chelsea we laughed our socks off at the visiting fans who said the only reason we won was they had an off day. WTFILN? It's been a great run that had to end sometime. Fox and jos are probably two of our more inconsistent defenders but have been a very significant part of he recent pod run. If we strengthen in the summer so be it but they have more skill between them than most of the trolls put together. This isn't FIFA 2013. This is real life where you are always looking to strengthen but in between you work with what you have and try to train the players to produce a consistent performance. I'm off to WHL next week and WILL e cheering te team on, whoever is selected to play.
  9. Its not looking the no brainer move that it was at the time though is it? For either of them...
  10. Spot on. People were equally pessimistic about Cortese's claim that we would be back in the Premier League in 5 years. Actually I remember Rupert Lowe making th same claim one year and I defended him at the time for his ambition. Unfortunately, having the vision on its own is not enough. You need the financial backing (and maybe a bit more knoweldge of the industry that RL had). Overall, Nicola has it in spades!
  11. Repeat offence of biting Repeat offence unsportsman like conduct this season Both offences could easily have been dealt with through the courts with probably more severe punishment. He has responsibility as a role model for youngsters which warrants a hard line on its own Just a nasty little **** really who the game would be better off without (all IMHO of course...)
  12. Well said. If I was a youngster setting out then this would give the Saints Academy the edge for me over other clubs. Knowing that I will get support even if I don't make the elite squad of youngster being fast tracked to the first team.
  13. FFS Hunter was very angry when he said that and rightly so. We were 3-0 up and conceded three late goals. It happens. His criticism was aimed at both Forren and Stephens for that collapse (and the rest of the team for that). This knee jerk reaction thread to a player who in a years time will probably be our best centre back is embarrassing and you can be sure some smart alec will revive it at the appropriate time!
  14. End of season you always see the gates pick up. The decision to change managers is indeed proving to be a good one but linking coincidences to back up an theory is not really a robust argument
  15. You don't recognise a wind up unless you started it?
  16. Its a view but I personally think he is one of our best players and if anything has over performed for his first season in the Premier League. All the TV pundits rave about him too. could they all be wrong? Callum was promoted to the 1st team last summer. I don't think there will be tooo many surprises. There are 12 obvious ones - the 12 on loan. Hammond, Sharp, Dickson, Forte, Lee, Forecast, Martin, Barnard, Reeves, Hoskins, Butterfield and Seabourne (though I think it is a bit harsh on Reeves and Hoskins if that is the case. Not entirely sure but I think Richardson's contract is up this year too. I also think Chaplow will ask for a move as he wants to play regular football. Peopel have talked about Guly and De Ridder but they have a year left on their contracts so unless they ask for a transfer, they will remain. I don't see Cortese as one who will release players before the end of their contracts. Its part of the same philosophy that keeps the likes of Shaw, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Clyne, etc at the club.
  17. To be fair the whole U21 team had a nightmare yesterday. 3-0 up with 15 minutes to go and they draw 3-3!! Hunter not happy and singled out the centre back as very poor in the last 15 minutes. A misjudgment by Jack Stephens led to the equaliser. I have not changed my view on Forren. He came with a good reputation but a combination of needing to get up to speed and the injustice of replacing a centre back who has performed well in a brilliant unbeaten run, has meant he has to wait a while.
  18. They've suffered enough. Let it go. Good luck to them for next season. Not sure I believe this 'owned by the fans' crap- I suspect one or two put most of the money in but I respect them for standing by the club through admin and the slide down the leagues.
  19. Because since Shaw cemented his place at left back Fox has upped his game and has been a more than capable deputy.
  20. Great signing. KD has shown himself to be more than adequate replacement and we have Gazza learning his trade in the background. Still think Gazza will be better than Butland in time.
  21. Well if it is a load of balls surely we should be going back to the sash...?
  22. Isn't this exactly the same argument we had last year and the year before that? We're not ready. Let's consolidate where we are for a couple of years. We're in a false position. They players we have will not take us any further. Etc. In Cortese we trust. If we have the opportunity you can be sure he will take it and he will make sure we have the resources to make it work. Incidentally we play 11 less games this year than last
  23. If you look on other threads you will see the danger of revelling too much in other people's misfortunes. Pompey must so regret some of those comments made 3/4 years ago!
  24. Once he gets in the team he will stay there as first choice. But clearly the English style means he needs to adapt his game a bit.
  25. Had more shots on goal than anyone else. His vision is superb. His ability to look one way anf flick the ball the other. It only needed one or two to come off. Actually I don't think it is a huge fee. I think the analogy is people think ita a huge fee so he should be better than he is. I do agree with the comments someone else made about Lallana. Different players but broadly same impact this season overall. Nearly everyone at the club sees Gaston as the most taltented in training. Can't wait for next year. If others are corrent we will see a much imporved Ramirez - not unlike how Morgan took a while to really shine.
