Is it just me or does Mayuka seem like quite a character?
Mowgli replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Agreed and hopefully that feel good factor will translate to the pitch. -
Obviously, that's why he was played so rarely after MP took over

Good grief. Julian Dicks? Really?? As an aside, I did a google on him to see what he is up to now and found out he took charge of the Sealand Internatinoal Football Team for a tournament this summer. Where is Sealand I hear you ask. It is a fort off the Suffolk Coast. A micro-nation with a population of 27 so picking national for the international soccer tournament must have been quite challenging. Despite that, they still managed to beat Alderney 2-1. Welcome to the wacky world of Julian Dicks. Back on topic I hope Liverpool don't go on to ruin Coutinho as is a clearly a talent and although no one ever admitted we were interested, I would have loved to see him at St Marys. Banega is in the same class and will be the icing on the cake for me but more than happy with our dealings to date even if it stops here.

Not a bad summary. There are the pint half empty people who will write everyone off unless they they are regularly in the national 'team of the week'. And there will be the pint half full people who see good in everyone - including Forren who they will argue was good enough but lacked the 'character' to settle in a new country. The summary you have provided gives a decent balanced view, recognising that some were bought for a specific purpose and once they served that purpose they were surplus to requirements. What fascinates me from these 'pre-season uncovered' videos is the positive impact the likes of Kelvin, Fox and Jos have on the spirit in the camp irrespective of their performance on the pitch. People underestimate the importance of these roles sometimes.

Given that choice, who can blame him!
-
I think we have more chance of signing Damaio. Money talks though.....
-
With Forren going back the last thing we need is to lose Fonte
-
I think we will see several systems used against different teams and at different times in a match. Gone are the days when we had players who 'only understand 4-4-2
-
Agreed. People are being influenced purely on his age In think. I reckon there is a couple more seasons in him yet. Just look at last seasons stats. More touches in the box than any other striker bar two I believe. Toward thend of the season, Poch decided we did not have the squad to maintain this high pressing game and got a bit nervous with other teams around us suddenly finding form. So we ended up playing a bit deeper at times which isolated Rickie a bit. that is the only reason his performances dropped off. He has come back as fit as ever and apparently one of the best performers on the VO2Max tests. I like the first team put up. Don't feel so concerned about the bench as others, there is strength there and the game normally gives 14 players a decent run out so they will see plenty of match time.

Really? I had him down in my team for he new season. Don't feel silly at all. Just sad for the guy that it did not work out.

Well I got it. Made me smile

Are we wasting time going for unrealistic transfer targets ?
Mowgli replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
People are frustrated, I understand that but today is the first day back for those membersof the squad that were on international duty. It has already been confirmed that several of the rumours were not genuine targets so that leaves Wanyama, Damiao and Benega. Poch said there was not room for all three. None of them have yet signed elsewhere so we're still in the market. Conclusion - concerns are a bit premature -
Hopefully you jest. I'm a big fan of Sharp but the comparison is a bit like comparing MLT and Skacel

I can understand people not buying the kit because they don't like it or buying it because they do, or they want a 'complete' collection. What I really don't understand is how people get so worked up about people buying a totally different shirt. Wierd.
-
Apparently it is! Remind me which genius recruited them....? MLT for me. He was priceless. Ron Davies comes a close second because allegedly (after the 4-1 win at Old trafford) Sir Matt offfered Ted Bates an open cheque and told him to fill in whatever he wanted. Interesting thought on Keegan (and others). What sometimes dictate their value in a transfer is the prgressive rise in fees as they move from club to club approaching their peak. Take Damiao for example. If we buy him for £7m and sell him at his peak we would probably be happy with £20m. But if we pay £25m for him now, you would not take less than £35m at this peak would you?

Fox is reasonable back up for Shaw. Different type of player but decent back up. Same with Guly - good squad player. Won't stop people on here finding any excuse to knock them. That's football.
-
I thought so too but was speaking to a Burnley fan about him the other day. He is a goal poacher - and a very effective one at that if you look at his scoring rate. But that aside they don't rate him much in other areas and as we have seen from saints, the coaching staff demand hard work all over the pitch. So on reflection, I wonder whether he is a bit too much like Billy Sharp. I still believe Billy has something to offer but you only need one of him. Someone on the bench to come on as an impact player. Sadly, I don't think the coaching staff necessarily share my view.
-
They wouldn't last 30 minutes against the current squad. There may have been one or two exceptions like Telfer and Tessem but we also had Svensson, Lundekvam, Beattie, Delap and, of course, MLT for part of the WGS reign. He did well with what he had but nowhere near the current set up.
-
Actually you are. What comes next is a season of exciting football to end all this.
-
Got a feeling it is only illegal if you are making money out of it though. If you own two shirts and you want to move the badge from one to the other that is your Privilege as long as you don't try to sell it. I've ordered a plain shirt as an alternative but if the red is too different I'll go back to last years.

To be fair some twitter sources are more informed than others. Since many of the rumours in thus site are copied from football-rumours.co.uk I generally take them all with a pinch of salt.
-
At the risk of appearing a bit hypocritical, I was fairly ambivalent toward a bit of nylon and certainly not precious of the stripes. But this is truly awful. If you are going to have gold crest - at least do the stripes to match! And to have a sewn in badge and an iron on sponsors logo. Well thats just cheap. I would rather look like Liverpool (last year) than Bristol City (this year). Kits are the same near as damn it. Thought I might buy the away kit but better to at least show a splash of red at home games so will stick with last years kit or maybe even go back to the stripes of 11/12
-
And he was only on loan so other than wages it cost us nothing. Uncanny understanding between him and MLT.

There's a touch of irony that all these people (including me) who wear football shirts feel qualified to comment on what is / is not fasionable to wear.
