  1. Probably not a bad idea to address the problem of what has happened over recent months. By it's very nature the forum will always be a place for heated debate and opinion, the difference is that the virtriol has increased on an almost daily basis with a number of posters playing the man not the post. I think it is probably as much a reflection of the frustrations our fans feel about the club's recent performance on the pitch as any material change in the user base here. The debate really needs to be on what the purspose of forum is, the how it is provided will naturally follow I'd also like to thank St Landrew, Ponty, Arizona and any others moving on for their contribution to improving my hobby of using this forum. I'd be happy to help in doing the Moderating as and when I could.
  2. Sod's law, The air con belt fell off today, prepare for wallet unloading.
  3. If anyone has had the pleasure of owning an X300 Jaguar 4.0 Sovereign could you confirm whether it had the following feature? My daily runner to the station (I wouldn't have my doors dented or sit in traffic in anything else) went for the MOT last week, normally this gives me the feeling like being on the greens in Monopoly and seeing your brother owns multiple hotels on Park Lane and Mayfair..... However, I phoned through expecting to hear the damage to be greeted by a reply that "it had passed". Luckily I resisted the temptation to say "are you sure?". Ironically most of the seruious advisories that were present last year where no longer an issue, therefore I conclude that Jaguar adopted a self-healing feature on this model (not sure whether it was standard or optional). I always loved the Herbie films, so was wondering if any other SWF members have owned 'magical cars'?
  4. I am with Pipex, they changed my tariff without telling me and cheerily informed me 'not all the letters went out' when I phoned in to complain. They used to have a brilliant service but now are nothing short of woeful. If I had the energy I'd migrate but don't want to risk a loss of service, TBF the Pipex / BT service has been stable for me although I'd be interested in any recomendations. And you are right about DSL Sync speed. Up from an average of 2mbps to 3.2mbps download and upload from 448kbps to 750+
  5. The cause: BT are currently undergoing an upgrade of their core network (21CN). Essentially they are upgrading their kit at exchanges. Symptoms: The Modem will connect to DSL but will not connect to the Internet Cure: Go into the Modem's setup menu and change the following to these settings Autodetect = "No" DSL Modulation = "ADSL2+" Hey presto it works. So if your modem suddenly won't connect and you suspect your exchange has just been upgraded, try the above. If typing this out saves one person the hassle that I had, it is worth it. FYI - My Exchange is Spencers Wood - Reading
  6. My bet.
  7. Glad to see that not only is the body barely breathing, Chanrai is robbing it of it's last possesions before leaving it to die.
  8. First one of these I have listened to, very good. Loved the Redknapp bit
  9. Poor bloke, his illness has clearly made him forget his first spell here.
  10. Do you live in the States Tim?
  11. upgrade my broadband account to allow for his lengthy post match interviews.
  12. I know the Eddie Howe name keeps coming up. Don't see it myself. NC will want to employ a 'name' IMHO. MON, Mowbray or Zola would be good appointments - in the same way I thought Pardew was a solid appointment I would expect the replacement to be the same.
  13. Cortese is a visionary, he knew we would lose 3-0 with a lacklustre performance and dismissed the management team accordingly ;-). Like most posters seem to say after our tradional poor start, jusge us after 10 league games - let's allow NC to fill the gap he created. I do not doubt he shares our desire to get promoted, due to his actions he will therefore be accountable this season for the success or failure.
  14. "One Alan Pardew" being sung
  15. Poor man's Ferguson media strop.
  16. Signing a striker until they are 46. You have to love AA. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/feb/21/nigerian-football-age-old-problem
  17. Special dispensation my arse! What are they going to ask for next? 70 minutes games, rush goalie all their games at home?
  18. Congratulations to Weston Saint, an informed post with a quoted source - a rarity in these parts! I have the feeling that now Storrie is off the payroll he might start singing like a canary to cover his own back.
  19. Am I right in thinking that we can only control the media rights on our home games? If so it will be interesting to see how many photos we get in the rags. Based on the thin coverage of League One I think the difference is likelt to be minimal. The Sun are very used to paying big money to 3rd parties for photographs, they do pay Papp's for photos I would assume. It seems that the clubs plan has backfired for now, but I wonder had it been one of the big four going first whether it might just have become the adopted model for football.
  20. Solent report a takeover for Pompey tomorrow - The good news (for this thread) is that it is Chanrai. Roll on post #50k
  21. Having backed him at 33-1 I would have taken a very small mgt stint from him.
  22. The vast majority of Pompey fans have shown respect and they are to be thanked for that. Every club has its fair degree of nobbers, though they would appear to have more than most. I actually put it down to jealousy. It is not that Markus lumped in pots of money, in fact that he would have invested similar amounts to that the Gaydamark and Chanrai 'claim' to have into the skates, but that he was a decent honest man who wanted nothing from the club but success achieved through good honest ethics, attacking flare and a sense of community. As well as saving us Markus brought unity, belief and pride back to our club. Maybe one day they'll be as lucky as us.
  23. So the OP question: What happens now? Well for me it is simple, we unite behind the manager, team and club management and walk this league.
  24. FFS - The moral compass of some posters here is unbelievable. My thoughts are with his family, the club can wait.
  25. Agree, 13 months ago we would have taken anything to save our club. Never understood people who pay to go to every game to simply moan. I go to work and get paid for that.
