  1. Anybody buying 50/50 scarf deserves a slapping FFS.
  2. No grudges against Bournemouth at all. They took their punishments including a -10 pt deduction which led to relegation to L2 and then starting out in L2 on -17 pts, plus a transfer embargo, plus having 2 yrs to pay of the CVA of 10p in the pound. A certain other club to the east of us should take note of how this all worked out. No mega Parachute handouts to bail them out, but plenty of Bucket Rattling and acts of friendship from the likes of us in playing a friendly (not for the 1st time to help out) and have come out the other side much like us in much better shape. And in their manager Eddie Howe, they have one of the brightest prospects in the league, and a man who has featured top of our owns fans wish list each time a vacancy has opened up in recent years. They are scoring goals for fun in The Championship, obviously it will be differnt in The Prem, but I wish them all the best.
  3. Kasabian on Thurs with Southampton's Craig David and Jessie Ware as support. My 1st gig in ages, looking forward to it.
  4. Sadly so did the viewing TV public and numerous referees.
  5. Big Vic smoothing his way to a move to Spurs having slagged of Arsenal already this week No reference to Ronald Koeman Day at SMS today ... p!ss poor journalism (This post best read in tandem with the Morgan thread )
  6. Already smoothing the way for his move to Arsenal by wanting to beat Spurs Yet another reference to Ronald Koeman Day in The Press, yet next to nothing on any of The Saints sites that I have seen!! Hope Ronald doesn't take it as a thumbs down to him when 5 men and a teddy bear pitch up at SMS today in Orange
  7. Hi Pete .... hope your flight was on time, if not don't blame me!! I'm working this afternoon whilst the match is on, much to the relief of all @dubaisaints, as my match attendance this season at The Barasti with them is a pretty dismal P10 W2 L8 and only scored in 3 of them Not sure how much longer I'll be able to keep playing my Trump Card of being at Anfield last year or at Old Trafford this year Nailed on win today!!
  8. 16/22 ... all 6 wrong were the 50/50 which one is such an such!! No problem with the Hurlock and Kenna though
  9. Actually I think you'll find that I am Spartacus .... mind you so is my wife
  10. Which equals the best team move of the entire season .... from KO back to the keeper in four moves
  11. Let me guess .... are they slagging the board off for getting rid of Pardew?
  12. Can we expect such an "honourable" move from Clyne as well? That was one of the things that wound me up about Lallana, his refusal to hand in a transfer request. He had 4yrs to run on his contract, the club didn't want to sell him, yet he was bleating like a tart about how the club were treating him. If the Clyne situation developes into a bidding war then it's not likely to happen, but hopefully we'll get a decent fee for him, which by not caving into AL's tantrums we did for AL as well.
  13. There's enough material in here to justify 3 year degree course, or at least a specialised subject on Mastermind!!
  14. Same here ... he was in the starting X1 my 1st ever game, our 1st ever Top League game in 1966 at The Dell v Man City!! A bit of a cult hero due to his uncompromising style!! An early version of Franny Benali if you like. He featured in an article run by Nick on The Ugly site a few years ago, about Players some of our younger support will never have heard of. One of the replies lends credence to The Monastry reference!! http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/18385/saints-players-you-have-never-heard-of-part-13--david-docker-walker RIP Big Man.
  15. Groundhog Day!!
  16. I guess it was one of those ... "and both teams were lucky to get nil" type 0-0 draws!!
  17. The forwards seemed to be making much better runs into space to receive the ball than their 1st team counterparts do!! I know it's a different level of defenders they are up against, but all the same, they looked purposeful going forward and not laboured like the 1st team do at times. Lets not forget this crop could in theory also have included Stephens, Turnbull and Isgrove out on loan playing League football, and amazingly JWP, Luke Shaw and even Oxlade Chamberlain!! No wonder our Academy is held in such high esteem. The future is bright and it's Red and White.
  18. Lovren's last minute shot ending up in the same place as his penalty miss and the glares he got from everybody else gave me a warm glow. I'm rooting for a Saints , Spurs 5th and 6th and an Aston Villa Cup win. Liverpool and that dispicable twonk Rodgers to miss out on Europe is preferable to me, than Pottychino and Spurs failing to. WTF was Brenda thinking of, leaving SRL on the bench till the 89th minute?
  19. Watching them on line .... how bizarre being able to see my home town on live TV from Dubai!! Shame they now play in Blue. Please tell me the annoying back drop of banging drums is coming from the home crowd and not Eastleigh Fans. If results go right they could be sure of their play off spot today. Remarkable
  20. I expect it to be in The Echo in 10 mins, if it isn't there already!!
  21. Went up by train - think they laid on some special trains. Cans of beer on train, just as well as near to impossible to get into any pubs. Absolutely crammed in behind the goal at The Shed End ("We took The Shed End in The Cup"LOL). Mental celebrations greeted each goal and final whistle. After all the euphoria in the ground, the train journey home was weird. Barely any singing, just people staring into the middle distance with a stupid grin on their faces trying to take the fact that little old homely Div 2 Southampton were on their way to Wembley to play Man U in The Finals. As was the way back then, pre video recorders etc, just a few beers in the pub then home to relive it all on MOTD. Funniest moment for me was them interviewing Mick Channon in the bath and his use of agricultural/industrial language His quote of ..."Well it's no good us just getting to the Cup Final, we've got to win the bloody thing now!!" is absolute classic.
  22. Me too .... probably stood next to each other!!! Right behind the goal about halfway up packed in like a sardine. What a day.
