  1. Absolute rubbish..they are guessing...If they knew they would have said a name, the press don't care about us so if they could scoop someone else with news they would have done... Or perhaps they are now best friends with cortese and he told them and asked them to keep it quiet? If the new manager had told someone in the press and they didn't want it to come from them they would have passed it on to someone and it would have said by now.
  2. I think that part shows how unreliable this statement is likely to be. Which current premier manager would anyone see as thinking it's a step up to league 1? Theres only 20 so we should be able to guess.... My guess is none of them.
  3. I was disgusted with what I heard from some so called Saints fans today. The swearing and abuse aimed at our own players was disgusting. I can't see why people would boo but that's their choice but to scream abuse at our own players during the game is a disgrace. I am proud to be a fan of Southampton but am so disappointed that that type of person chooses to come to the same club as me. I will not say support the same club as me as they weren't supporters of SFC.
  4. It cannot be representative as a sample as people choose to post on a thread. Therefore it is not a fair sample of views, usually just the extremes. To get a representative sample you need to pick 100 people or 200 or 3000 and get all their views- even if it's I don't want to comment.
  5. +1 I can't understand why there is so much negativity on this board.. No one will ever agree with everyone of NC's decisions but at the end of the day he runs the club and for every moaner there are a thousand who like what he is doing to our club!
  6. I suppose we'll see when the come to Saints Mary's. If they wear a change kit I suppose it will be an issue?
  7. When we play at Bournemouth can we play with the home kit even though it has red sash? Obviously as they play in black and red it clashes with the away kit.
  8. That can't be right many teams don't use the number 13 as it can be considered unlucky and I am sure I remember that bloke at Palace (Can't remember who though) played in 55 as he wanted to be number 10 but it was already taken (Didn't he play with a small + sign between the 5's?) I am sure Palace never had 54 other people registered..although it would explain why they went bust!
  9. Sorry bit obvious I suppose but why can't those who can't afford a season ticket just buy tickets for each match seperately? Same effect they see every game and the cost is spread over a whole season rather than a few months?
  10. I think the original poster would have got a more sympathetic approach if they didn't use it as an excuse to "bash" Saints. The vogue seems to be to have a pop for anything and I question whether the poster is actual a Saints fan or someone looking for an excuse to have a moan? So what they didn't answer I bet they get hundreds of requests like this everyday..Some they support some they don't... Bet if you e-mailed every league club you wouldn't get half respond and then only a few would actually give anything. That's the point it's optional! Rather than moan about what you didn't get count yourself lucky to get a shirt at all.
  11. Your only saying that as you haven't got one!
  12. The issue I have is that should they get the CVA, they can disolve the club and start up again fresh in the new league next season with no points deduction. The similarities between our case and theirs is that the penalty this year has had no effect- they went down even before the points are deducted.( Same as us). They however aren't having next season wrecked (like we did) by the league saying as you went down anyway you can have the penalty next season as it didn't affect this one. It seems like they screwed up every rule book in the country, not just the league, got to an FA cup final on the back of using players they couldn't pay for, and yet they may get away without any real punishment at all!
  13. premier league final day games are on the 9th..league 1 is on the 8th!
  14. In 5 years time... Liverpool and Man U have lost their current managers and with it their way on the field. Debt will have eaten up any opportunity to compete with the best on a regular basis. Utd are owned by their supporters but half now wear grey scarfes (in memory of a famous game where they changed kit at half time) in protest at the other half who they say are ruining the club. Liverpool were bought by a local lad who financed the deal through ocean direct. The club pay £6m interest per week on the loan. Somehow despite having a rubbish manager and rubbish team they still hover around the top 6 consistantly. Chelski will be struggling to rebuild their side (again) after changing managers for the fourth time in a year. Arsenal have lost their manager too having seen Mr Wenger retire to a castle in France in early 2012. With him went a string of (not so young, now) talent and they languish somewhere in mid table. Leaving Jose Mourinio's Man City and Alan Pardews Southampton to compete for the premier league and Champions league double!
  15. How can we be very nearly two down? By that logic we are very nearly 4-3 up as we had more chances than them? Or do our chances not count?
  16. Actually you have demonstrated improvement! In the first 4 months we were 9 points worse off than the playoff teams. In the following four months we were only 2 points off the pace! (only lost ground by a further 2 points) Therefore a 7 point improvement in performance on the previous 4 months! That's the problem with stats they can be used to prove anything depending the way they are cut. Wait till the end of the season it's the only true measure of how well a season went! ALAN PARDEWS RED AND WHITE ARMY!!
  17. I don't think it was anything to do with the extra fans. We were in 529..You could see parts of the ground singing/clapping but couldn't hear what they were singing to join in. By the time enough had joined in as it moved round the ground for you to make out what they were singing the song was already fizzing out so we could only join in the last bit. The other issue was there was so many blocks doing there own thing and trying to start songs that they never got in time or sang the same song. A group in around 527ish were having a right go at getting it going towards the end but again I don't think anyone else could hear them and other parts of the ground were singin something else (but I couldn't hear what!) The few times the songs did last long enough, COTR and stand up, nearly everyone around us was joining in and it sounded great. Don't know the answer but next time we play at Wembley we need a plan..don't know what it is or whether it's possible even but if anyone can do it..... I think one of the things need to be that the songs need to last longer to give people a chance to join in?
  18. Ooops should be 14 30K+ and 5 below..A bit of an AP there!
  19. Oh Yeah? The year we went down 15 of the home league games were attended by 30k+ The remaining 5 were all 27k+... And that was for a team that finished bottom of the premier league! During the cup final year (as requested)..just 4 league games dropped below 30k...Boro (opening day- bizarre!) , Everton (29k+ Wednesday night), Charlton and Fulham (On TV I think on a Sunday.). I believe the support is there for a bigger ground in the premier league- When we were in the prem you had to be a member to get tickets pretty much. How Wigan or Bolton or Hull or even a lot of the premier league would like the attendance we had at St Mary's when in the prem...To get near sell outs in the league we are in no matter who the opponants or the date is fantastic and shows how much support we really have!
  20. It amazes me that they continued to buy players in the summer and then take more players on loan in the window when they should have been selling every bit of silver, like we did when we went down, to try and stay afloat. They couldn't even pay the players anyway so the window was the one opportunity to get enough cash to keep going. To try and sell players after the window has shut amazes me, why the rush they didn't seem to be panicing during the window?..It smacks of total arrogance within the club who thought they could spend whatever they like and that someone would ride over the hill and save them. No one would care if my ferrari was reposessed and I lost my home as I was living well beyond my means and I don't give a hoot about a team that has done the same..It's about time it happened to them. A good day for football I say!! The icing on the cake is it's pompey..
  21. To be fair Mr GS you were the one who orignally said we were 22 points behind so I am not sure that you are the maths genius either! but to be fair 66 minus 34 is quite hard even with your six toes on each foot!
  22. Whilst I agree with you that I am enjoying the season and GS seems to be one of those who will find things to dislike in everything that happens.... Why claim to be a supporter GS? If we won the three games in hand and got the 10 back we wouldn't be second as we are 32 points behind!
  23. "If a lot of those draws turn to wins, which I don't believe is far away" The clues are there for you IF and I BELIEVE show it is my opinion. I am sure AP and the team are more than aware of our short comings and are working hard to ensure it happens. I am also sure that AP is glad you post on here because he won't have spotted any of the issues you raise and is blindly thinking that we are top of the league winning every game! By the way a mark of a good team is getting a result (eg not being beaten) when they are not on form or playing badly..I am still confident when we get our form back those draws will turn to wins! (That's my answer to your question really!)
  24. Can't see why we are not in with a shout of the play off's? Of our last 8 away games 4 are against teams currently in the bottom 5. and we have a few of the play off contenders at home... We need a run worthy of a team winning the title but why not?..no distractions now, one of the best squads..I reckon we will go close!
  25. Yes and we got in the mess in the first place by changing managers every 6 months..Even Sir Alex needed time to get a team together and it is well documented how close he came to the sack. Anyone with half an ounce of sense can see we are a better team now than even 6 months ago..it isn't perfect but 2 defeats in 26 games would be a record any team would want. If a lot of those draws turn to wins, which I don't believe is far away, I hope those calling for another managerial change either hang their heads in shame or just hang! Funny lot some Saints supporters even when things are getting better they find an excuse to be suicidal or anti Saints! (Not aimed at the poster above or anyone in particular) but everytime we draw a game there seems to be an inquest..god help AP if he gets us to the PL and we don't beat Man U,Chelski and Arsenal away at the first attempt!
