  1. "Why we are not as good as we thought?" I never knew why other supporters thought us as arrogant until I read this thread!
  2. No it was the best ever scored by anyone!
  3. Christ looking at this post you look dead one for a heart attack by the time your 14 at this rate...How can you be so angry about a non event? I think you need to take up supporting a less stressful sport (perhaps bowls?) because if we get to the next round your head might explode! By the way I am excited about today..Big game, full stadium.. I am also excited about Exeter on Tuesday..real important after the last two league results... I don't need to stress about priorities, that's Nigels job, I just turn up enjoy the games and hope we win both!
  4. Just echoing everyone elses sentiments..Many Thanks to Nicola, Nigel and Adam. The worst part of being a Saints fan has always been expecting our best players to leave and the assumption was Adam would move on sooner rather than later. Brilliant news!
  5. Donkeys on Saints site have it as 3-1 Dagenham!
  6. I was surprised by the Pardew exit, I was sceptical of the reasons and whether it would move us forward. Interviews like this though remove that fear and I am 100% behind Cortese again now. He is obviously passionate and believes he is doing what is best for the club. That is good enough for me..Shame he didn't do the interview sooner.... I am optimistic about our future, I will ignore those with the dark agenda and will enjoy the ride to become Champions of Europe! Come on you reds!
  7. Nick Holmes last goal V Liverpool 82/83
  8. oops...be a hero again is what it's meant to end with.
  9. I think if you watch him you can see the lack of confidence. Against Bournemouth a ball came to him across the edge of the area, (last season he would have hit it first time), this season he wants a touch first which allowed a defender to cover the shot. Last season free kicks were hit hard putting his foot through the ball, this season they are side footed to make sure they are on target making them easy to save. I don't see a confident lad who dropping will suddenly make hungry again, I see someone who needs to play every game. To be given the ball and the supporters to back him 100%. He hasn't stopped trying IMO he is trying too hard and being too cautious, worried about making a mistake. Get off his back and let him play through it! When he starts scoring he will score for fun again. The confidence will return, shots will be hit first time, free kicks will be taking with no fear of missing the target and we will hero
  10. Does that count..wasn't he the most expensive keeper in the world or something close at the time?
  11. Although at the end of his career with us, I always liked Mick Mills- around £40k and played around 100 games or so for us.
  12. Actually scrub that the looked up the FA rules and they say the winner choses ends, the other kicks off...but I was listening to a referree on talksport who said they chose both...No wonder the referring is so poor if they don't know the rules!
  13. I think you'll find the rules have changed and the captain winning the toss has choice of both kick off and ends..So you can't assume Hammond chose to switch ends..As Tranmere kicked off, we can assume they won the toss and so chose to switch ends as well...
  14. Sorry Never said we were intimidating nor did Ian Wright. IMO we have too many fans who can give out some but then take offence when it comes back. They then seem to hold a grudge, be it with fans or players who have reacted to their taunts. Could give a lot of examples of embarrasing behaviour such as chanting "your support is effing s**t" to the few hundred who trek down from up north on a midwinters mid week game...How many of them who actually sing that made the reverse trip? I bet those who do the trip appreciate those away fans coming down and wouldn't dream of joining in. I see it happening every week and it seems it is being bred into our young fans. How many times do we see on here in build up to games, references to those ***** as they dared sing when they beat us last time or the **** who dared score against us and then celebrated the goal? Do a list on here how many players some of our fans "hate with a passion"...Would probably fill a stadium of them. Most away fans will give a bit back but they, seem on the whole, to be down here to support their team and quickly lose interest in the "baiting" from cetain sections of our fans..where as from where I sit those certain sections are just looking to get a reaction all the time..And when they get one or get baited as we have gone a goal down etc they go mental, red faced and can't take it. We, more than any other club I see, seem to have a larger minority of fans who have lost any sense of fair play. I have seen nearly every other club clap a returning old favourite unless he has really did something they perceived as wrong. A small section of our fans like to boo our own team! I understand his comment about Spurs fans..they give it but in the street actually they have a bit of admiration for Ian Wright for standing up to that...We don't admire that- we run to the police whinging about how he dare he stand up to us. I could go on but it won't change and I am glad an outsider has said what I think about that small section in our fanbase which admittedly they have in all other clubs but that minority is bigger in our club. IMO. Go on some other forums and see for yourself.
  15. I think you should do your own home work.
  16. Think he's not that far wrong though. I have been to loads of other grounds and you don't usually get that many where a lot of fans spend most of the game gesticulating at the away fans, singing "who are ya" and then reacting with throat slitting actions when the away fans dare to sign anything back. Perhaps supporting the team might be a better use of their time? Also had a look at other forums and I really don't see the negativity on theirs that I see on here a lot. The response to this thread sums it up with so many reacting by calling Ian Wright names for daring to critisize the wonder supporters. People need to take a hard look at themselves. It is only a game after all! I enjoy giving a player some stick with the rest of them (especially when it's witty) but after the game it's all done you give both sides a clap and go home. But our fans hold a grudge (How many still hate Roy Keane as he dared to mock our relegation?) and returning players should get a good reception whereas more often than not we give them stick.... Cue being called an enemy of the state etc......
  17. Not really a gripe but the whole Pardew dismissal leaves too many questions. I personally don't believe the whole gross misconduct theory as if it was surely just he would have gone on the day? Why would you sack his coaches for Pardews gross misconduct? You may subsequently decide you don't want them or when you talk to them they may decide to go but for them all just to go at once seems more likely to be premeditated. Sure I could be wrong but I fear at the moment that we may well have a number of managers in the next 5 years...I hope I am wrong and will wait and see if Mr Cortese proves me worng...I hope so!
  18. Can't we all just supply one word each until it makes a few sentences then release that as a statement? I start my word is "The" the next person puts "The xxxxxx" and the next adds a word etc..you get the drift...hey presto a collective statement! The.....
  19. sorry how do you know he didn't try to replace them? there are many rumours about people he wanted but we will never know the truth..easy target though eh?
  20. "****..I am sure Cortese said pick the one in the white gloves...."
  21. Well he has shown steady improvement 3-0, then 2-0 then 1-0 perhaps MKdons will be 0-0?
  22. But with the same set up Wilkins has managed to have the record of W-0 D-O L-2 F-0 A-5 when with the set up you describe a monkey would have won both games.
  23. What evidence? How many games did we lose at Home under Pardew? How many of those were lost by 3-0 as we did Tuesday and how many by 2-0 like today? Lets have your evidence as to why todays performance and Tuesday performance would have been the same with Pardew in charge then?
  24. I disagree we have looked OK every game this season except the last two. Cortese blamed Pardew for not getting promoted last season if we don't go up this season as champions he should resign and go back to banking...he has potentially ruined a great season.
