  1. Not sure if this should be in The Lounge (apologies if so), but does anybody know if the Maple Leaff on the Polygon is still going? I've heard rumours of them being shut recently. Big shame if Paul Singh et al aren't still open for business. Has been a cracking pre-match and post-match venue for a few bevvies over the years. Would be grateful if anybody knows. Cheers.
  2. Wise words, Rattlehead. Potter, Todd and Lancashire are my worst 3 over the last 20 years. It is surreal that Potter had an involvement in the 6-3 game. He was beyond inept.
  3. Yup, heard him saying this when commentating on the Carlisle away game on Solent. I thought he came across as an articulate guy with a genuine passion for Saints, would be good to hear him commentating more often, as Merrington does have a tendency to repeat himself and state the blindingly obvious.
  4. You really are a despicable turd.
  5. Agreed. I thought he did fine, tried not to come across as overly biased in our favour, though did let his guard slip once or twice. Quite articulate I thought.
  6. I had exactly the same. Also the crowd noise was a fraction of a second ahead of the action, so you knew if a goal had gone in from the noise before actually seeing the ball hit the back of the net. Annoying, but still better than nothing I guess.
  7. I am going to this game. The Football Grounds Guide seems to say that it's pretty p1ss-poor for pubs up there though.
  8. Kevin Moore scored a goal which possibly produced the loudest single noise I have ever heard from Saints fans (ZDS). Very sad news.
  9. Sorry, please ignore last post!!!!!!!!
  10. I have no idea but does anybody know which first round game/s is/are being televised?
  11. So difficult to disagree with any of this.
  12. Didn't they hack Scotland to bits in 86? Seem to remember Strachan getting some particularly harsh treatment. Comically Uruguay had a guy sent off very early in that game but with the tactical anus that is Alex Ferguson in charge for that World Cup, the Sweats couldn't get a goal. When people harp on about what a supposedly great manager Ferguson is, they should remember the 86 World Cup; he was hopeless for the Sweats in that.
  13. I don't understand why people pay on the day for away games. Doesn't this prevent them from getting it logged with the Saints ticket office that they've been to various away games, therefore potentially preventing them from getting tickets for future away games where demand may exceed supply?
  14. I quite like Gough, he seems a pretty genuine guy. Ronnie Irani is the worst radio presenter I have heard in my life.
  15. That last sentence is a very good point. Added to Lallana showing signs of coming good, we ought to be a major threat in this League.
  16. Ah yes of course, I stupidly forgot about Steaua fans. They showed that you can make a deafening racket without a roof and also whilst getting wet. They were something else. There was a stunning female local copper in the away end as well. I can't do a Rule 1 unfortunately though.
  17. I have not seen Pulis play, but The9 has on a number of occasions and I trust his judgment sufficiently to conclude that Pulis is nowhere near to the standard we require.
  18. Eh? I was at that game (Dowie's first for Cov?) and their support was appalling all game. As Coventry's always has been.
  19. Runner-up to Nineteen Canteen in "Poster of Sanctimonious drivel" award.
  20. Cardiff at Ninian Park
  21. Oh, is it a game of Guess Rattlehead's Nationality? I'll go for Uzbekistan.
  22. Saints are massive.
  23. Eh? But the Milton End at the Dell was just as quiet as the Chapel at St. Mary's. The Archers and East Stands were the only stands making any noise at the Dell.
  24. At the risk of being a nerd, is that average crowd for 1992/93 correct? I remember being a student at Southampton Uni at the time and went to 3 or 4 games at Fratton in the away end to support the opposition, and vaguely recall it being the season that Corporal Guy got about 50 goals and they did get a few 20,000 plus crowds as they pushed for automatic promotion to the Prem but comically farked it up after getting a thrashing at Roker Park at the end of the season. Would have expected their average that season to be nearer 15,000; if I'm wrong then fair do's and apologies.
  25. Graham Potter.
