  1. Isn't it strange how JM only has these rants and problems when he loses. He is just a bad, bad loser. His conduct has crossed the line from being hysterical to just plain unacceptable. My own opinion is that his conduct towards Eva Carneiro lies at the root of much of his players disaffection with him. Eden Hazard, in particular, was accused by JM of just being tired. The man just loses all rationality when he is losing.
  2. I was only able to see bits and pieces of the game. The defence always looked solid and Wanyama seems to have taken a step up in class in the absence of Schneiderlin. it is always difficult to guage performance in a friendly but, whatever way you look at it, this has been a very successful tour. 16 goals scored and 3 clean sheets. We can go forward with confidence. Feyenoord are a very experienced European team so to go there and win 3-0 is no less than any of the "top 4" might have expected. I am chuffed.
  3. Adrian Heath, without a doubt. I have never felt worse in 40 years of supporting Saints. Those of us who have been around that long have suffered a lot! Cup semi-final when it used to matter, ours for the taking, final minute of extra time, pathetic, bobbly, pitiful, little goal. Horrible.
  4. My understanding is that this is not only unnecessary but factually incorrect. I believe Bournemouth are actually top by virtue of their prefix AFC.
  5. Blatter is either corrupt himself or incompetent to not know what has been happening. He cannot have it both ways. Either way he should withdraw but we all know it won't happen. He is a megalomaniac.
  6. I notice that there were 5 pages of comments after the Leicester defeat but this great win merits barely 3 so far. Just early days or sadly typical of our support? For what it's worth I thought there were some excellent performances today against a rather toothless Villa. All 3 of our forwards had very good games but Long was outstanding with his selfless and skilful performance. Rodriguez will be a great addition next season. The midfield were effective but do miss Schneiderlin. The defence were assured even with Gazzanigia who dealt well with what little Villa could offer. Hope still lives after today's results.

    "Stonewall"

"Stonewall" penalties are also "All day long". I would be happy all day long just to get one - and to score it. Especially if Lovren concedes it!
  8. This is where our traditional Saints mindset must change tomorrow: Opportunity or Challenge?
  9. The best thing we can do is beat Liverpool. One of the best ways we can help achieve that is to get right behind our team from start to finish.
  10. I think this is marginally the best result for us. The most important thing is that we beat WHU on Wednesday. They are now well adrift, tired and deflated. We are still 3rd!
  11. It's relentless. There is no margin for error at this level. No more "settle for a draw".
  12. I am still confused. I bought my own seat on my season ticket last Saturday. The guy behind the counter said my ticket would be sent. That confused me. I got an e mail but no attachment and it did NOT state my card had been activated. Nothing in the post. I phoned this morning and got a vague response that it SHOULD be OK! I am going to have to arrive early just in case I have to dash to the ticket office. At this moment I am not happy.
  13. Well I didn't see this one coming and I was very much among those who would have preferred a City win. This is the stratosphere that we are playing in now. All the teams around us just keep on winning and we have to do the same if we are to qualify for Champions League. Still can't believe I'm actually saying that!
  14. The spirit and belief in this team is just fantastic. So many good players out and yet we still grind out a win after a gruelling week.
  15. I am old enough to have witnessed the cup win of 1976. It was a fantastic, unforgettable, ecstatic experience. One of the greatest moments of my life, exceeded only by the special family moments. But despite that memory I would still take Champions League football in order to take our great club to a level I never before imagined. Yes, the FA Cup would be a wonderful moment but you only have to think Wigan and P**pey to see what it is worth in the long term.
  16. How do you actually get to be 5th with a goal difference of 1? Answer - Luck.
  17. Jason Puncheon. Now my favourite player!
  18. Got there before me Saint_Tony. They have had any luck going this season..... Apart from Man Utd's share!
  19. Quality and class are the two words I associate with Toby. I hope this is true but the source does not inspire me.
  20. Some of the comments on here are just hysterical. It was a very poor performance but the team selection was more or less forced upon Koeman. It is simply that we do not have sufficient depth to compete when we have a few out. Nevertheless, this team should have won. Sheffield had their own problems and were there for the taking. The players let Koeman and the fans down tonight. Calls for Koeman to go are fascile.
  21. I am worried that Mane could be sent off but, equally, he has the talent to win this game. Tough call for Koeman but I think he will prefer to keep 11 on the pitch.
  22. Pelle suspended for Tuesday? No real options if he is.
  23. Decent team considering Schneiderlin is still out. I, too, thought Hesketh looked good in his cameo on Monday. The game passed him by when we went long but before that he looked skilful, tidy and intelligent. The bench finally looks to have some strength there. We should be ready for all eventualities. Long and Mane are very different but they are unlikely to play together very often. I like them both. Mane can be a match winner even on an off day.
  24. I do actually agree with this - but it's not just the "big" teams. We are now recognised as a very dangerous and capable outfit by everyone. To the best of my knowledge nobody has rested any players against us. They have shown us complete respect. United will field their best possible side on Monday night. We will have to continue to earn our right to remain where we are. There will be no surprise factor to help us get the odd good result. They will all have to be earned the hard way. The "big" teams have complained for years that others raise their games against them. I think our position means that we are now regarded as a "big" team by most others and as direct competition by Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea etc.
  25. The worst of this is that the likes of Mark Lawrenson can now say they were right - and they probably are. To maintain a challenge for top 4 we needed to show we can compete with teams like City. Sadly we have shown that we are still short and with suspensions and injuries looming things look a little bit bleak. Back to reality. On the other hand - 3RD IN THE TABLE!
