Is that not more because the national side produced a lot of very good players at the same time, which he didn't have to coach/keep fit? I think he's a very likeable bloke, and I think he is a really good pundit, but nothing in his managerial career would suggest to be he's a particularly good manager, certainly not in the Premier League.

But appointing Puel & Pellegrino was?

Would you be happy / not happy? I think he'd give the players a kick up the arse, and could potentially do a decent job with the right recruitment in the summer assuming we stay up. Got no problem with Hughes, given the position we are in. I don't think there are many better options out there, that would come to us right now.

Updated after the weekend. West Ham being dragged into it with some difficult fixtures coming. If we can go there and get a win in a few weeks, then will put the pressure on them big time...! We look doomed, but with a new manager coming in, it hopefully will give us a boost. Newcastle looking largely safe now. WBA look doomed.

Think it’s still the same at Newcastle, from memory they were allowed another year to move away fans or something

Updated original post in this thread...removed Brighton, as they're pretty much safe now I think. Not looking good after that crap result this weekend. Man Utd have saved us from sitting back in the relegation zone. Palace have some favourable fixtures though with only 2 of the "top 6" to play.

Brighton, West Ham & Huddersfield all have a horrible last four games, along with us. Wouldn't like to be going into that Everton & City game needing anything...

Will update this as we go along...might be a bit too early, but why not...our run in certainly looks pretty horrible. You'd think Brighton have enough about them to get enough points from those games left, despite some tough games against the big few. Unless we have a bit of a turn around in performances & results, I don't see how we're going to get ourselves out of this...!

Weird interview, feel the title does him a bit of a disservice. Just says the players have aspirations to play in Europe. No problem with that. But about the here and now....we're in a mess, and we need some short term thinking to get out of it. Or we're going to find ourselves relegated before we acknowledge the fact we're even in the fight.
