  1. You get more people standing in the same area than you do seated so even with cheaper entrance fees there is no reason for loss of income, quite possible also that you would generate more at the gate as well as programmes, food, drink etc....
  2. Jose is currently in Halkidiki in the same hotel as my daughter and her family ! Grandson has his Saints shirt with him so should get to chat hopefully !
  3. The Nasty Party !!
  4. May has probably the best chance of bringing some sort of unity to the party and (hopefully) the country ! With her calm demeanour and non confrontational style, she would be my choice ! I suspect that she also has a steely inner self which will clearly be needed at this time of turmoil and uncertainty !
  5. As some of you seem to think that Scotland is a factor in the upcoming new challenges, consider this scenario : Ruth Davidson, the popular leader of the Scottish Tories and one of the top performers in the referendum campaign (I accept that she had feck all competition!) becomes party leader ! She is young (37), female (lesbian too, which probably also helps) with bags of energy and extremely articulate. Could she be the one to unite not only the Conservative party but also keep Scotland as part of the union ?? I realise that she was a remainer but if she were to get a strong team around her from both the in and out camps, you never know ? I have not read this anywhere, it is purely conjecture born in my own little mind but surely stranger things have happened in history ??
  6. Can't see that they can choose 'any' currency as the Pound is highly unlikely and the Euro would only be possible if they were to be welcomed back into the EU, that would only realistically leave a new stand alone Scottish currency which is fraught with risk and would be difficult to sell the idea to the people IMO ! I do agree that the union looks a lot weaker today but remain optimistic that things can be worked out over time ! I spoke to my brother in Glasgow yesterday and he is of the impression that there is no appetite for yet another referendum at this time ! Ps. Nothing personal Whitey, just taking part in the forum debate !
  7. Wee Nicki was not quite so bullish on the Andrew Marr show and I think your statement is highly questionable ! If (and it's a big if) they call another independence referendum they will be faced with using the Euro (no chance of the pound) and establishing a border with England, neither of which even the SNP want let alone the electorate ! There is a long way to go on this one and your use of the past tense is just wrong !
  8. This referendum was clearly included in the Conservative manifesto at the last general election so why do we need another vote ??
  9. The ground rules were that over 50% and the resolution would be carried ! I reckon that most voters would have been aware of this !
  10. I voted to stay but respect the result for what it is ! Not sure why you are asking me though ??
  11. Wasn't it the elected MP's who offered us the referendum and set the ground rules ??
  12. So, over 17.4 million British subjects are thick or easily led by the national newspapers ? Either that or 16.2 million British subjects are bad losers !
  13. Have been out for most of today (golf and a computer course) and have not had time to read this thread although I heard quite a lot on the radio in the car ! I voted to stay but it was a marginal choice based on media coverage etc.. however, the result was 'leave' and that is what we have to respect (the people have spoken !), no ifs, no buts, that is it ! Some of the bitter nonsense coming from the losers is totally pathetic and makes them look even more out of touch than they actually are ! True patriots will get behind the country and move on in a positive fashion, IMO nothing less is acceptable !
  14. Current comparisons with Leicester are largely irrelevant because of the freak season they have just had ! They will need a brand new (sustainable) business plan because the chances are that they will slide quite quickly back to normality and risky deals such as a 5 year, 25 million contract with the likes of Vardy could backfire spectacularly ! This coming season will define them as a club but personally I think they'll struggle to achieve anything because of the much greater challenges they now face ! Breaking the mould once is possible but keeping up with the giants is nigh on impossible these days !!
  15. I'm afraid that players/agents hold all the aces these days and as soon as someone has a good season then the negotiating position reverts to their advantage ! Teams like Saints in the 2nd level of Premier Leagus clubs (around 6th to 14th) have little option but to cash out at the optimum time or end up with nothing ! It's not Les's fault, nor Ralph, nor Kat, it is just a fact of modern day football life ! Sad but true ! We march on........ Ps. Wurzel, hope all is well in your world ?
  16. Have to say that I find the Jack Schitt version of events to be the most plausible !
  17. Agree it's a big loss but absolutely nothing we could do about it ! In this day and age with one year left and refusal to sign a new contract, you just have to cash in ! Sad but true !
  18. Totally agree, all rivalry goes out of the window when it comes to situations like this ! I wish him a speedy and full recovery !

    Euro 2016

Why do they always boo the opponents national anthem ? Winds them up to perform better IMO !
  20. If they sell either Lukaku or Stones (or both!) then his whole argument falls flat on its arse ! Supposedly they are sending out a message with paying £5mil compensation for Ron, this is merely scratching at the surface and they have a very, very long way to go to achieve their lofty ambitions ! Will be interesting to view their progress in the coming months/years !!
  21. TBF though, he shares the same name as a current England international!
  22. Whilst taking the Sun article with a very chunky piece of salt I would like to add that, unlike Pochettino, Koeman is not known to be particularly close to the players (possible exception is Classie) so I see no reason for them to jump ship to Everton ! Contrarily guys like Tadic, Mane and even Wanyama may well be quite happy to work with someone new ! The assumption in the Sun article is not based on any semblance of fact so should be dismissed without concern IMHO !
  23. There are clearly some nice places to live up there but do they have schools ??? :)
  24. I'm pretty sure that Gary Neville said that he will not consider another manager job in the foreseeable future, if ever !!
