Based on last season I agree, but Hammond, Richardson, Chaplow all improved massively after promotion from League One, there's no reason why it can't happen again with other players.

Interesting that everyone involved with the club has referred to Jack Stephens as a centre half rather than a full-back so far - including the man himself in the most recent interview, saying he's got "three brilliant centre-halfs" ahead of him. Possible he's been converted?

No-ones expecting us to win V City, in all honesty.

The pundits will act surprised, but newly promoted teams doing well is nothing new. The only way people will be surprised is if we go unbeaten against the top teams, or actually finish in the Europa League places or something - which is highly unlikely.

Joe Hart springs to mind, he wasn't exactly getting rave reviews before his loan spell at Birmingham and that was when he was 22.

I'd really like to see De Ridder come on leaps and bounds this year and with a full seasons experience he could well do it. If he hasn't overly impressed in pre-season though, and we haven't signed anyone else, I'll be amazed if it isn't Guly starting right midfield.

Davis looks to be a bit of a goalscorer anyway, don't reckon we need another CM let alone want one.

This is why Adkins is always talking about getting players in who are not only good enough to improve the team, but who have the right attitude. I don't think for a second that Sharp, Richardson or any of the CMs will begrudge the challenge of fighting against better players for a spot.

You don't need to devote 24 hours out of your day to working on a signing.

I agree, but it could be argued that with that much money going into something like that they could just build one or two pubs and either have them club-run or rent them out.

Chances are everything is agreed and finalised between the two clubs and the player, and Saints are just waiting for final confirmation from the FA before announcing it. If he's on his way to Geneva, he's signed.

Well, we'll see. I think Richardson is a lot better than people give him credit for.

It is clear I agree, but when rotation becomes necessary (cup games, midweek games or just picking up knocks etc) I think Richardson will put a very strong case across. Don't forget also that none of Adkins signings have really come straight into the team, they've had to earn their place.

I think it'll be one of Adkins biggest selection headaches, Richardson will push very hard for a first team spot.

This season or ever? I don't think for a second they were promoted with the intention of them regular starters this season, just that they're good enough as back up challenging for a place in the squad.

Not sure it'd be worth it, not like his legs going will make that much of a difference to his play - although I suppose he wouldn't be able to run the channels as much. Perhaps then a midfield captaincy role awaits Lambert in a couple of years time?
