I keep wondering why we don't play with 2 DM anymore. Obviously Schneiderlin was top quality but even with OR or JWP in there alongside him we look so much more solid. Our strikers may be misfiring but our defenders look panicked. Back to Wanyama....it looked to me like he wanted to get a red today.

I'd say so. Not even the top teams manage that very often.

Everything points to us selling our best players and relying on our recruitment to replace them on the cheap. It worked last season. So far this season I'd say it hasn't. You can't keep doing it year after year and expect it to work. It will eventually catch up with you and you end up like Villa.

At half time, every fan was saying "we should be more than 1 up. We'll pay for that". If the fans can see that, so can the players. When we dominate and don't put the game to bed, the heads drop. The opposition only need 1 half chance and suddenly we go deep and you just wait for the goal to happen. Like you say, we lack leadership.

Apparently they had a free kick go wide. The tannoy bloke got a bit ahead of himself and announced the goal scorer. This game will forever be remembered as the game they actually won 1-0 #Portsmyth

You'd think they'd avoid mentioning attendance like the plague. But I think in their world of Portsmyths they genuinely believe they have a bigger following.

They now sit 3 points behind Northampton who are 3rd and have a game in hand. They're 4 points off slipping out of the play offs with a lot of teams below having a game in hand (Accrington have 3 games in hand). I can't see them not going up but they are a small poor run away from slipping out of the play offs.

I was in a meeting this week and 2 employees of The News were there. Got chatting to one afterwards and mentioned I was a scummer. Eventually this thread got mentioned and he laughed. Apparently a few of them follow it quite religiously. Although impressed by our collective knowledge and humour, they do put stuff out there purely to see if it appears on here. My guess is Neil took a picture of that specific page just to see if he could get a bite on here. Hi Neil. Just so you know, your colleagues find your one sentence paragraphs funny too. They also mentioned he's a nice guy, which I refused to believe.

Double V D was our best bit of business in a long time. However Chambers would be a great addition in a position we need to strengthen. Really can't see him accepting it though. Would feel like a failure on his part I'd imagine. Even if it is just a loan.

If he could be at his best 100% of the time he would be fantastic. But his best is few and far between. He's a great presence in the side and a very good player for us. But his lack of consistency, passing ability and goals mean he wouldn't suit a top club yet. He can get away with it here. He won't get let off at a top 4 side.

Woosh. Anyway, seems to be a lot on here who want to sing, so clearly there's an appetite. We need more songs. With so many crowd favourites leaving/long term injury we have less than I've ever known. Address that and it'll help. One of the best player songs we've had for years was Lambert's. That started at an away game and with a song sheet. Sad I know, but it worked.

I assume all these moaning about the atmosphere were all doing their bit to create one? Strange there's so many of these atmosphere experts. Why don't you all get together and make an ultras stand? The atmosphere hasn't been great this season. That isn't a Southampton problem, it's a general PL problem. I thought the atmosphere was good for the first 30 mins and the last 15 last night. I enjoy a good old fashioned OWTS that goes on for ages. Liverpool fans tried to drown it out various times and failed, resulting in them applauding us on the way out.

Can't see him ever signing a new contract with us if that doesn't change. Rightly so.

Neighbours? It takes me about the same amount of time to get to Bristol as it does Brighton. Bet that same journalist describes Bournemouth Vs Brighton or Portsmouth Vs Plymouth as a derby, just because they're coastal.
