EoA & myself managed to catch up with Whitey at The Cricketers in Eastleigh for a pint of Real Ale over lunch last summer. The man is a true Gent and a star for making the effort to come and spend an hour with us. Truly hope everything goes well for him. (Mr Sibley we know you cast an eye from time to time, you know what to do)

Another in the Crisps line. I kinda got addicted to Kettle Chips while working from home (yeah I put on about 12kg in 4 years & reduced that by 6Kg before my daughters wedding) I loved the Black Pepper & Sea Salt. Sod the dietary issues. I CRACKED two TEETH on them, one was rescued - cost me about 300 quid, the other had to be extracted and cost me around 500 quid because the root passed too close to my Sinus for it to be done outside a hospital I ain't had any for almost a year. You can teach an old dog new tricks

\ Jeez & you were a skinny bugger compared to many I see these days. Good luck with everything, thoughts with you. On topic. Yes I've noticed this in the past week, after 4 years working from home on a project we now have a factory in an Industrial zone here. It's 30 miles out in the desert so the only lunch option is a Food Court. So Subway - I'd say 98% of the people there had Sarnies STUFFED with the wrong things, a pack of chips and a DIET coke (see Dune's post) The KFC I'd say 95% "Upsized" Charlies Subs - ONLY sell "foot long" subs with Chips as they are called here. Daft thing was Subways charge 1.10 quid for the "meal deal", the Gas station next door pack of chips and a can of pepsi - 80 pence. Obesity? When I came here the town was full of the Fittest chicks I had ever seen (Emirates Aircrew) heck they were also the only women in town. In the past 8 years that has changed with the City growing. So much so that Tuesday we had UK visitors in town & took them to (the legendary home of The BullFrog) Rock Bottom. I'd say 75% of the girls were "lumpy in the wrong places". I told the visitors that the BEST chat up line was "There is a Dunkin Donuts on the way back to my place" It was meant as a joke. 2 out of the 3 visitors tried it. Sadly it worked.

Well, Emirates Airline are clearly loving the Olympics. Ticket prices from here to UK while it is on are around 40% higher than either side (apart from Eid Holidays). So obviously they have a lot of "bodies" on their planes passing through here from Asia & Africa, and cannot blame our School Hols as most families left here a week ago. Enjoy the queues peeps.

What a disasterous day for PTS thread. I am GUTTED at the news. Our local Satellite just advertised their big movie for tonight. Toast Starring Helena Bonham Carter (who has an extremely tenuous link to this thread) It appears that the BBC made a Film that made it across to Hollywood. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toast_2011/ Yep, there goes another source of potential funds for our takeover of pcfc. Somebody else already made a movie called Toast. (Oh the Helena link? It was a Merchant Ivory Gay Porn Historic movie thing starring yours truly alongside Hugh Grant. Oh alright it actually recruited most of the local Cricket Clubs around Salisbury to take part as extras and we got paid 15 quid. Helena helped out with the 150 of us in one scene in a courtroom and cut some people's hair (her college pocket money job) One dumb git didn't actually recognise her and tried to chat her up. Ho hum, she could so nearly have been PMDP (past Mrs D_P) Yeah right. But the 15 quid was handy. (There you go D_P in I was in a Gay movie shock revelation. Sure that will cheer a few up. You can still find it in the remainder bins along with most of Old Sarum Tuesday Night Cricket Leagues players - Maurice) (Oh but you only see me in the Wide Screen version luckily)

Just back from the office. Stopped in the gas station and had a Pot Noodle for Lunch. It was very nice. A kindly Pakistani even filled it from a Thermos flask I was not arrested at Gunpoint

Read that as he has been offered roles elsewhere as a coach, but is holding out for a proper managers job now that he has "some" experience on his CV. As in - you are a Sales Manager - you get a new job with a competitor. It is a VP role even if the salary is down on what you would expect but up a bit on your old job. As a career move you do NOT then go and walk inside one year and take a Sales Manager job at another competitor. Forget the money, your CV is screwed for life. THAT is why he is still there. As soon as a club coming knocking with a manager role he'll be off fast as he can while pledging regret, loyalty and of course the "Career move" lines he gave WBA

Yeah like I said it's late Mind you hcdajfu

It's late Who is this?

Great story and questions. Which is why most mere mortals hold these guys in totally respect. If mankind had never experimented he would have never worked out how to turn a stone into a tool. Too many people & cartels hold back pure research in so many fields that could enhance our lives

Stick to trying to work out what the Higgs Boson is all about. It's MUCH easier.

So you could spend your daily commutes asking stupid questions on the PTS thread

OK so now they are not sure what Higgs Bosun they have found. One set of data could indicate it is a non-conformist Higgs. Other data that it could be a Vanilla Higgs. Eh? So the research could be starting to indicate that there is a possibility that there may be more than one Higgs Bosun. So there could be more than one God Partcle. So that means they have possibly discovered that there is more than one God. Wow, that's gonna screw the planet up then. We'll have wars between differing Higgs Bosun Opinion Factions... Shouldda read the story about it in The Sun, rather than clicking through random links. I think I need a cold towel to the forehead now. Oh to join the Alpine Funding Debate, they WILL of course find multiple God Particles. They will then decide that these Multiple God Particles will of course have to be held together by a Bigger than God Particle. This will invoke a global move by the World's Scientific Community to create an Even Bigger than a Hadron Collider super duper. It will of course be called Deep Thought and will (eventually) be recorded in history as the second greatest Computer ever built by Mankind

Even now, all these years on I remember how we used to rush back from College to tune in "The Wireless" to listen to the weekly Radio Shows. Still so many of his lines and concepts that are just wonderful, even in the later books. Elvis, The Rain God Truck Driver, The Bowl of Petunias & The Whale, and Infinite Improbability Drive... The Hollywood movie fell between two stools, it had spectacular moments - Slartibartfarst, the Original Marvin in the queue at the Vogon Office, but also had moments that didn't quite work.

Totally agree, although it took a while to "come to terms" with him. But really don't like The Other One. Some of the episodes play wonderfully to his lunatic brilliance(LSD for one) but also the way his character depth is built up and the pain and remorse for what his selfish actions had caused are superb. Was still a huge shock to "finally meet" William Bell as well when Olivia got hijacked. Hopefully the series still has legs and maybe we could end up seeing a third Dunham. (The horny other Dunham is deffo one of my favourite "characters" - in a 7 of 9 sort of way )

Maybe you are on to something here. This allows them to retire from the game due to a sad set of unforeseen circumstances rather than one particular fault of one person. Now, TB has had experience of running a football club. He is also highly regarded in the IP industry, and in fact was the man that HMRC fought for. He will not want a failure on his CV. The PFA will not want to be seen to be to be to blame for not asking their players to help out The players will not want to be seen to have been the reason the club has failed but will not want to miss out on any possible chance of getting SOME money back FL are doing everything they can to help out. Must be worth re-reading the PP rules and payment dates again pcfc RIP unable to get a team together Sounds a bit better on your CV than failed to find a financial solution
-
Wow apart from small mistake that I have changed for you There, now fits most people I have met in HR the past 3 months
-
OK so we have made a bid. Some talk of it being the right money but the wrong terms, then we start to see QPR have made a bid. Now, let's see, what is NC's track record in buying players when things start to go all "changing by the hour"? Methinks the horses head is already in the DHL box Next player speculation time
-
Yep and who do they pay that interest to? Along with fees for arranging the loans in the first place, while the Glazers probably borrowed it at a competitive rate set against Libor. Oh One of the drivers for forming FC United
-
Yep. Money. No Rangers then most SPL clubs Gate Revenues get hurt Also the TV coverage will drop away. Old Firm games get shown world-wide. Drop in TV Income No TV coverage cannot get the same price for Ground & Pitch-Side advertising Could force a number of clubs to the wall. At least IF they are L1 then it is only a year of pain finacially, They go right the way down then that financial black hole could take 2 or even more years to recover..... Also don't forget that all the Scottish Clubs will have budgeted - player contracts cannot suddenly be reduced if you were to lose 10% of your annual income. It is a mess and means a compromise has to be agreed between Sporting Integrity & Financial Survival for Scottish Football.

Yep. In fact when I started watching Fringe I felt that it was a poor attempt at re-doing X-Files (with to be honest a damned fine rival to Gillian Anderson in the lead role - Anna Torv) I almost gave up but then it picked up and now I really enjoy it. (Especially as we now have two Olivia Dunham's.......)

Just one point... Why have we not discussed THE greatest Sci-Fi "amalgamation" of all time on this thread? You know, the one that was built entirely on the purchase of an item of Domestic Use from Marks & Spencers in Salisbury? That finally explained Cricket to the "non-ex Empire" world. Dealt with The Creation And posed a question that the world still debates some 30 plus years later even after Cern (allegedly) stumbled across Higgs Bosun? You all know the answer. 42
