Wow, that's different. Mine seems to be showing Masterchef, The Professionals. That's what happens when I sit down early without any beer

I also know a bunch of slobbish millionaires. I know one geek who doesn't leave his house, only eats takeaways that get delivered and has a Merc AMG on the driveway that has siezed up as it has never been driven. Creative Directors and Marketing Gurus/ Yep they go through life looking like Bill Gates style wise but they have ABILITY. Hell, I work from home 90% of the time and dress and eat like a slob. What I would take a guess at though is that for the majority of the world, when up against their competitors of an equal talent when in line for a promotion or a new job, if they look act and behave like a slob will NOT get on The critical difference to be successful is the ability to notice when NOT to be one and to dress/act/apply etiquette approrpiate to the moment.

Respect, Etiquette and Geography. Eating, dressing & having personal hygiene like a slob? You're likely to be young and stuck in a job that doesn't seem to go anywhere, or to have climbed the tree and no longer give a damn. Would Dragons Den give you a zillion for a great idea if you haven't washed yourself for two weeks before appearing? Nope. You work in an IT department and a client or the boss takes you out to dinner to discuss a promotion or a new job and you eat like a Baboon? Gonna be a tough one. BUT then take the comments about the Yanks - If you eat "Proper" over there they DO look at you as if you are an Alien. It's all very well to trot out the non-PC that British Etiquette is the way forward. Sorry - that actually doesn't work. Go to the home of an Arab (or even a proper Arabic/Lebanese restaurant) you eat your Mezzes with your hands, using bread to scoop up the Houmous etc. Now in this scenario, you would 1) look very stupid trying to cut Pitta Bread and dip it in Humous with a knife & fork and 2) Actually would (could) cause MASSIVE offence to your host, especially if you "unknowingly" used your left hand to put food to your mouth (In the desert your left hand is used for... well you know, no loo roll and sand doesn't work that well) Then, also in the offence causing stakes, do you have ANY idea how career limiting it is to turn up at a Management Meeting in Paris having SHOWERED more than once in the past week AND used SOAP!? And as for washing your hair before the meeting - yowza. So Etiquette is about being aware and doing the right thing in the right place at the right time. Slob out at home, don't shower before going to Footie and eating a Chinese meal with your fingers while watching telly - no problemo. But if you actually want to do a little bit more than be (eg) a tech support geek in the same office for the next 40 years - gotta know when to shape up

Behave, or I will order Mrs EoA to drop you off down here to help me this afternoon..... More on that laters. But yes actually a little old Blue Rinse lady in Tweed Jacket with Wicker basket coming out of Debenhams in Salisbury about 2 months ago... I'm thinking ... Would anyone notice if I slammed it shut on the stuck up old cow?

While we seem to be on the subject of manners (clearly Dune went to a finishing school in Switzerland)...... It became very non-PC to do polite well mannered things (beyond haitches & knives & forks) such as Holding a Door open for a "Lady" or offering to help somebody that was maybe not as strong as you. When I go back to Blighty I get some right snobby comments when I hold open the door to a small shop - especially from the blue rinse brigade - I'm QUITE capable of that young man - And yet the younger women seem to quite appreciate that you have noticed them and are polite. So today's debate has to be Do you hold doors open for Ladies? (Or of course for Men with loads of shopping) Me - yup, sorry Manners maketh man and all that. But also it is often funny to see 20 or 30 people just push through as well and completely ignore you...

Did Faraj explain why he messed up the Skate Takeover?

The calm before the storm? The fanbase have settled down after the "AP gone" and saw enough in the home games to think we may progress well both positionally in the League and from a style of play standpoint. Then we went to Huddersfield and gave another (so typical of late) limp wristed display. What will this afternoon bring? A big away following, the opportunity to close the gap on those insignificannt South Coast L1 clubs? Will the players bring their playing heads with them this time? Can we explode from the blocks or will they be thinking, pah it's only Notts County it'll be a stroll. Important game for the rest of the season IMHO. The mindset is the key. Not just a "must not lose" game but also a "must perform game" COYS

TBF, I think things have picked up a bit in the last day or so, suddenly we seem to have a bunch of new threads, let's see if minor surgery has cured the patient. If it has that could be the first news article!
-
The Bournemouth team and set up have enough about them to get into the top 6 & make the play-offs. Everyone said exactly the same last season and look what they have done. Just a damned shame they'll be wound up before the Cheats
-
Ah ha. So THAT's the reason. Lawrie is good friends with... Who is good friends with... who did .... with .... in the Parlour with the Ice Pick. Perfect. Thanks Hypo the jigsaw pieces all came together
-
Yep it was all made up. Except for the bit in the De Vere which I saw. HTH
-
Lol, some of that was reminiscent of Tommac at his best.

What is the approximate air speed velocity of a sparrow?
-
Also, Ho's theory works as well. Somebody at the club who needed to keep a lid on things may well have brought him in as a cover. Actually works slightly better this way - stopped too many people looking under the bonnet
-
So, what you are proposing in the debate is that by dropping the H in Haitch as us mega intelligent types what do like, this in fact means that we are, actually FRENCH!!!! OMG that's it from now on it's HAITCH all the way
-
True Steve, my bad, I meant the few fans who are independently digging around trying to find out WTF happened to them. Of course, back in context, I doubt they will, it's very hard using a calculator or hacking computers with webbed fingers....
-
Punch to start and Oxo to come on. Puncheon is not as bad a player as many have made out the two times I have seen him this season. His decision making was poor but he performs a solid role in the midfield (in general) But Oxo with his pace and confidence AND his skill coming on with 20 minutes or so left will scare L1 defenders to death. Think of it the other way around. Would you prefer to start with Oxo and then have Punch coming on for the last 20 minutes? At least with him on the bench you have far more options should the game need changing IMHO
-
Pah - that just PROVES stupidity. Even down here we know it is Travel Lodge and Premier Inn.....

So, we enter the world of the 35,000 with the shock that the Few are simply hiding behind the bluster and deep down may well be as worried as the rest of football by the cesspit that was once a football club. here's to the next 35,000

[quote=Corporate Ho;880938. Gaydamak refused to sell to Faraj because of who his backers were - Chainrai and Kushnir. Their names were confirmed to the PL at the time which the PL admitted when they met with the Pompey fans. This makes a mockery of Chainrai's claim that he only got involved in October last year. Fahim had the money via his backers who assumed they'd get through the FAPPT but that went tits up so he sold to Faraj. Faraj did show proof of funds and I've been told by someone involved how much he was showing as available. Where that came from who knows (I have my suspicions) but of course it never materialised and that allowed Chainrai to step in seeing a "business opportunity" with his loan. A loan to Falcondrone (a company he was already involved with, not to PFC) which when Faraj defaulted on it meant he could seize the club. It's money the club never saw, gained no advantage from and was routed from the BVI to the BVI. So now Chainrai effectively has the club and because it was Portpin who loaned the money somehow also becomes a secured creditor for this mystery amount. A scam or a brilliant manipulation of the law? You decide This time, it's pretty clear to see that whilst we had debts they could have been serviceable via PL money or parachute payments had the likes of Fahim or Faraj not been allowed to take over with either no hope or no intention of running the club legitamately which then saw the debt to HMRC etc escalate - deliberately so in my opinion The unknown unknown in the sorry tale as Cheney would say. Think you have a pretty good guess as to who was backing Fahim without taking anyone to taks The key part of the Storrie is still why if that backer was so obvious (in a shrouded sort of way) did the "Leadership" enter into last season full guns blazing and not try and cut their cloth. The business model was unsustainable back then despite the protestations at the first court hearing, and yet they COULD have saved the club last season by tightening the belts early on. Which means that it could be inferred that Storrie teller was in on the scam. Hopefully your own detectives down there WILL get to the bottom of the mess. The BAD thing is, as seen with Luton, IF (yeah right) AS (allegedly) bad things may well have gone on, it won't protect the club. Pretty sure Lampitt's role is (was) to avoid the cesspit overflowing. Will be interesting to see what happens now he has been pushed to one side. Long way to go
