Brighton haven't won a game since September and have recently lost to Villa, drawn with Norwich and Newcastle. Leicester are crap this season. Arsenal have been pulling out good results and seemed more solid although were taken apart yesterday. Palace are random. Miles better than the start of the season but still prone to letting in goals as they did yesterday. It's a harder set of fixtures than the last lot but not that bad.

Does he even have a song yet? Was a bit weird yesterday when he scored and then no one sang his name. On another note it's a pity Shane Long isn't playing now because Wet Leg have given us a completely open goal for a new song dedicated him. https://youtu.be/Zd9jeJk2UHQ

I would have gone if I hadn't forgotten it was on and then made other plans.

I had no idea what the thread title was about until I scanned down and started reading. Is it supposed to be funny? Is it really not worth 10 seconds of your time to look up his name and spell it? Anyway, he has all the ability but his brain can't transmit what he wants to do to his feet in time. Look at yesterday for an example when the ball was played into him on the edge of the box in a bit of space. He took a touch, steadied himself, pulled the trigger and bang, the defender flew across and got a block in. Just a slightly quicker piece of thinking and he would have got the shot away. He also suffers from just being slightly too slow to out run players when in space. Does a lot of things well but never anything great.

There's also a world of difference in the footballing ability between someone who is a footballer and someone who is a goalkeeper. They are 2 completely different jobs. You get the odd keeper who is very proficient with their feet but most really aren't.

You are right. Sadly I just don't see him getting an extended run in the team to allow us to find out whether he still has it or not. Throwing him on for 20 minutes or so probably won't achieve anything.

I didn't say he was dismal, that was referring to the header. He was very poor though. It's so frustrating to see someone who used to be so good and who everyone wants to do well fading away in front of our eyes.

When Walcott came on I thought he'd go on the left and leave Armstrong through the middle. I can't work out why that didn't happen. I thought Walcott was very poor. Bad control, awful crosses that generally seemed to get blocked by the first man and the missed header at the end was dismal.

Just got back, not reading any of the posts above because I can predict the normal arguments after that result. First half we were so far the better team. Silly goal to let in, everyone there was convinced there was a foul in the build up but I haven't seen a replay. Second half they cut off the passing lanes we'd been so successful with and denied our full backs the space they had lots of in the first hakf. We then struggled to create anything until Walcott's terrible headed miss near the end. Some might not agree but I thought we missed Redmond today. Also we really could have done with Stuart Armstrong because without those two we had very little in attacking midfield and lacked the ability to have people running with the ball to take play up the pitch. Add into that some very indifferent passing and 2 poor pieces of goalkeeping and we basically gifted a poor team 3 points.

U16's beat Spurs 4-2 earlier.

You can't be a proper Southampton player unless you have a place within stumbling distance of the Saints pub.

He lived somewhere in town for a while at least. He used to hang out in Videotheque on Bedford Place. I remember seeing him walk up Wilton Avenue a few times after games.

Martin O'Neill nearly lived in Winchester. Romeu lives around that way. I think it was when Koeman was here that a lot moved out that way. I know Jay Rodriguez lived in Easton.

The thought did cross my mind that pressure may have been applied by someone, or some sort of deal has been struck. Favourable write ups in return for some sort of financial incentive through policy change. -
Most live around Winchester, others in Ocean Village. Personally I'd have a nice big place in the Forest as it's easy for training. A while back it was more Chilworth area. Not sure if any live around there now.

Geordie Greig ousted as Daily Mail editor. Wonder what effect this will have on the core middle England Tory vote whose support may have waivered recently. The new editor will not be criticising the government as vehemently as Greig was and will probably treat Johnson much more favourably like the Mail on Sunday does. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2021/nov/18/editor-ousting-daily-mail-mail-on-sunday-geordie-greig-ted-verity -
Wow, what a story. Hope he gets back to football soon and can restart his career. Also nice to hear how the club helped him after he had left. We do seem quite good like that.

Screens in the stadium weren't even on for the Villa game. I was wondering if that meant there was work going on for their imminent replacement. The concourse looks so much better now in the family stand. A big tv and all the walls have been decorated. Are the other areas like that too?

He was magnificent from what I watched. Ran his socks off, held up play really well and scored a great goal. Also pulled off a Le Tissier like piece of control under pressure from a huge punt which was sublime.

We used to smash Turkey back in the day and they are half decent now. I have no problem with the small teams playing in the qualifiers. They need it for the finance and to try and better themselves.
-
Ohhh, so close to Adams assisting an Armstrong goal now. Where's my kilt, I'm all in for Scotland now.
-
Great finish, really good goal.
-
Adams goal, Armstrong assist. Up the Saints.

Stuart Armstrong coming on. Good for him to get some more minutes even if it's only just over 10.
