Exactly this. Two years ago when we were still newly promoted we appointed the Feyenoord boss, the former boss of PSV and Hungary, the England Goalkeeping coach and Sammy Lee. This time, established in the top 8 of the PL for three years we've got the Nice boss who barely speaks English, the under 19s coach of a league 2 side and the Rotherham coach. Thats not to say he cant be a success, but the odds are a lot longer than when Koeman was appointed.

Good analysis of the existential issues Labour faces - and whether it is in terminal decline. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jun/29/whoever-leader-is-labour-may-never-recover-crisis

True unfortunately. The Tories could afford to go with someone inexperienced in 2005 - they weren't in Government and needed to compete with Blair. This leader will go straight in to be PM in a time of Brexit and all the turmoil. May will be seen as the steady hand. Not my choice though.

He's really handicapped Real Madrid the past seven years.

Cracking idea as ever. Britain’s carmakers ever more reliant on European market for sales Figures released on Thursday showed that factories up and down the country — from Nissan in Sunderland to Rolls-Royce in Goodwood — built 1.59m vehicles in 2015, the highest number since 2005, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Factories were driven by a 3 per cent rise in exports to 1.2m, the highest total on record. The UK’s carmakers — now almost exclusively foreign-owned businesses — export nearly four out of every five cars they produce. But the figures will raise fears over the industry’s increasing reliance on mainland Europe ahead of a referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU. The bloc accounted for 57.5 per cent of all British car exports last year, versus 53 per cent in 2014. Car buyers on the continent, where car sales are finally in solid recovery, played an important role last year in helping the UK’s car manufacturers offset sharply falling vehicle exports to China — down by more than a third in 2015 — and Russia, which fell by almost 70 per cent. https://next.ft.com/content/b2445b02-bec9-11e5-846f-79b0e3d20eaf

That would only work if the French league had the same number of strong teams as the PL. It doesn't. By a long way.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about Cedric. Yes agree about Fonte, age is starting to show a bit.
-
Its setup for a Mexican standoff. Britain wont want to leave before negotiating because we hold the power that way - and the EU wont want to negotiate before we leave, because they then hold the power.

Its been four years now. That bus is late.

That suggests bad coaching or lack of confidence though. I liked him when he first signed for us and he's done well for Portugal. The problem is more likely within the club instead of the player not having the ability.

There are posts about him bringing his two sons and having them involved in the club. Doesnt sound ideal.

Odd that Brexiteers never mentioned this "Under EU law, the bloc cannot negotiate a separate trade deal with one of its own members, hence the commissioner's insistence that the UK must first leave. It is also against EU law for a member to negotiate its own trade deals with outsiders, which means the UK cannot start doing this until after it has left the EU"

The Nice fans are mostly taking the pis s out of him. The last post is "Good luck Claude. Do not return". http://forum.ogcnissa.com/viewtopic.php?t=27023&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=270&sid=8a46d9b82a08816750cf6f9b398cc66f

I know. It would easier with James May.

Laura Kuessenberg on the BBC suggesting Cameron and Osborne are behind this to torpedo Boris. Cameron still wields a huge degree of influence. I wonder what his final game plan is?
-
A guy with a history of so so results who has never worked outside France supported by the under 19s coach from a French Lg2 side and the Rotherham coach. Sure Les, they were the best candidates, really (after everyone else said your plan wouldnt work). #kickingonforthechampionsleague

The Finance Minister of one country out of 27 has said its something that it might be possible to discuss. The leaders of the 27 have dismissed it. But yep, its all going Brexit's way.

I was actually hoping for Boris, not that I rate him, but he was the one I thought most likely to do a complete U turn and return to the EU in all but name. May, despite being a remainer (or at least gave lip service to it) seems set on implementing withdrawal in full. Gove is a serial incompetent - at both Justice and Education. He shouldnt be a minister let alone PM. I hope Stephen Crabb wins it, though he's a very long shot imo.

Im not sure of the rules for the Labour leadership - but I didnt think it was setup in a way that allowed for a stalking horse. Doesn't everyone stand and then there is a progressive knockout? Cameron has come across better, more Prime Ministerial since his defeat. He should provide a benchmark for the Labour candidates - if they cant match him then they wont get elected and shouldnt stand. Neither Eagle or Corbyn do. I see Gove is now standing for the tories, which is a pity as it will draw support away from Boris. Not that I rate Johnson but he was the one I thought most likely to do a complete U turn and return to the EU in all but name. May, despite being a remainer (or at least gave lip service to it) seems set on implementing withdrawal in full.

Would be a total lost opportunity. There is no point having the divisive fight in order to replace Corbyn with someone who is little more likely to win than he is. If Stephen Crabb wins the Tory vote he will appeal to many Labour voters and they stand a real risk of being irreversibly eclipsed.

I hope she isnt the only candidate - shes more charmless than Corbyn. There are plenty of able Labour MPs who could do the job. Ben Bradshaw is one.
