  1. It will because the Echo has lost its close ties to the club. In the world of mass media and the internet the club no longer needs the local paper to get its message out. The lack of a good relationship affects the Echo's coverage. I would imagine a high % of the Echo's circulation has a direct link to its readership being interested in Saints news. If the Saints stories dry up circulation will fall.
  2. What of this is not true? Le Tissier shouldn't have responded to the question in the way he did. He was commenting on Pardew leaving when he had no idea what was going on. Just wild unsubstantiated press speculation and that should have been his response. Instead he added to the media circus surrounding this story. Dune, why is it okay for Le Tissier to comment on pure rumour and increase the media hysteria, but Cortese not aloud to respond to his comments?
  3. That article is 3 days old and some of the quotes used in it are 5 days old.
  4. Why that and not something from 1885 to 1974? Why only one based on the 1974 badge?
  5. Can you really not stop yourself for 2 hours?
  6. I have a feeling automatic turnstiles may be used at St Mary's at some point soon.
  7. Pardew and Cortese actually met yesterday. The media, particularly the Echo is so clueless.
  8. Panic over http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2051138,00.html Pardew and Cortese actually met yesterday.

  10. And both Pardew and Cortese have stated it would have to be huge money for Saints to sell any of the stars. - Teams with money problems sell cheaply to resolve money problems. - Teams with wealthy backers can afford to turn away derogatory bids. Yes, if a player wants to leave they will leave, but I don't see Saints letting anyone go on the cheap whilst Liebherr provides financial security. Thus there aren't many clubs that would both want and afford the likes of Lambert, Schneiderlin, Fonte and Lallana. A lot of Championship sides are in huge problems. Premiership clubs would be taking a gamble on them and unlikely to be able to offer them regular football in a winning side. Even if Pardew does go. Which I don't want and don't think will happen, I see little reason why that would mean the main players in his squad would depart as well. Any incoming manager and COrtese would be looking to keep them and would have the financial backing and ambition to do so.
  11. What about the first sentance? Admittedly the rest of the article does contradict this opening line, but they are older quotes from a few days ago so maybe the deal has been done. But then...Sky messed up the Ward deal and announced it as being complete.
  12. We would yes, but we shouldn't. Why it affects anyone other than the monarch's friends and family I don't know. Why goto someone's funeral or mourn them if you weren't friend or family? (Especially one born by sheer chance into a monarchy.) Let alone have a national day of mourning. What happened in terms of a nation mourning Diana was laughable.
  13. Tall and can head the ball. Job done.
  14. Look at the videos I posted earlier in the thread. You shouldn't trust Youtube player videos generally but he does look very good and most Brighton fans are devastated based on the huge thread about it on their main forum.
  15. That sums the media up very well. Nothing like some ignoring of the full picture to stir up some controversy/ratings/increase circulation.
  16. Youtube is not the best way to judge a player as you are seeing him in isolation and selective clips, but he does look good. Videos of every touch Calderon had in 4 League One games... Calderon vs Charlton Calderon vs Oldham and Hartlepool Calderon vs Tranmere
  17. BBC Radio Solent starting a rumour on Saturday and ending their own rumour today! http://twitter.com/solentsport Who needs real events when you can create your own news stories from an office? Thread ends???
  18. More likely to be Nick Harvey the fitness coach. Though perhaps in conjunction with Pardew.
  19. Again he wasn't 100% about that. Surely if he trusted his source he'd sound a little more confident?
  20. An interesting choice of story from the OS today... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2050176,00.html
  21. Blackmore wasn't sure in his suggestion that the reason was that Liebherr was upset. He said it was a possible reason. Surely a man with good connections would be a little more sure. He ignored any other possible reason such as flight restrictions. Or maybe his source either isn't a good one or is not telling him everything.
  22. Win the League outright.
  23. The Daily Mail rumours predate the BBC Solent reports after the Southend game. The Solent reports add what to the original rumour? Nothing except a suggestion Liebherr not being there may be due to him being upset. At no point did they raise the point it may have been impossible for Liebherr to get home from the game.
  24. It doesn't need quashing when to anyone with an ounce of common sense sees it for what it is - i.e. unfounded speculation with no quotes or source. Adam Blackmore is clearly a fool for suggesting Liebherr wasn't their because he was upset. He clearly didn't look any deeper as to other possible reason why a man that lives in Switzerland may not be at the stadium when it was expected that air space would be closed close to the game ending.
  25. And neither has Cortese. If the Daily Mail told you looking at post boxes gave you cancer would you believe them? Pretty much the same as a Pardew leaving story that contents no evidence.
