  1. Does it really matter? They won't get a bigger allocation than any opponent.
  2. If they have such a clause in the contract then yes. But no such details have ever been revealed and I struggle to recall an example of that happening with any other club. What is more likely to be in the contract is a reduction in the amount they pay if we go down. I don't see why relegation would mean they'd want to end the deal entirely, teams in lower leagues than the Championship get sports companies deals.
  3. Who has done that?
  4. If Wigan can beat City, why declare Saints as having no chance? It would have been extremely difficult at the Etihad of course, but declaring it "no chance" is clearly nonsense.
  5. Ummm... guys... cheer up ffs...
  6. Says his uncle...
  7. They were two bad errors, but that doesn't make him a bad player or bad signing. He has a lot of good attributes and it is daft to write a player off on the basis of a few mistakes and football clubs luckily look at the bigger picture of his skill-set rather than the approach of "he ****ed up kicking the ball a couple of times, lets sell him".
  8. If players are starting regularly for Lazio, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Monaco etc then the club and the player has little reason to go to Southampton. It would be delusional to think Saints can sign the 1st choice players from those teams. In terms of quality of recent signings there isn't much wrong, it is the way the manager is using them and stifling them that is the main issue.
  9. He makes the occasional error, but his general play is impressive. Not sure why you've written him off.
  10. How hard did you look? At the time you posted this thread the other one was right at the top of the board
  11. Who? Because a decent season in the Championship sees strikers valued at £15m+.
  12. How do those three sound familiar to Saints? 1) What discipline issues comparable to 4 players stealing a taxi have their been at Saints this seaosn? 2) I struggle to see how Lemina & Hoedt are "money wasted" 3) Which Saints player are you claiming matches that description?
  13. If Carrillo isn't a £19.2m (guess at £60k p/w) target-man central striker... who would you suggest is?
  14. Trump's mass murder flow chart for press conferences
  15. Were you expecting a bottom half Championship team to have a good chance against the reigning Premier League champions at home? Bit harsh to judge Adkins on this game in isolation. I think Hull may have rested a lot of players as well.
  16. Not really the same as they both wanted to do things to improve the situation, but were thwarted politically. Where as Trump is in the pocket of the NRA and blames mental health rather than the availability of guns. Every society has citizens with mental health issues, the US is one of the rare countries that allows such people to have relatively easy access to firearms.
  17. Trump blaming mental health problems in a statement today is an issue, when a year earlier he revoked gun checks for those with mental illness...
  18. It would be a financial disaster for the club and I'd rather have a **** season in the Premier League and stay up than a very good season in the Championship. Far better for the future of the club.
  19. The tactics and player selection play a huge part and poor decisions in both are costing us this season. Pellegrino is stifling this squad from any attacking threat and also appears poor at both motivational skills and defensive organisation. Compelylely out of his depth and we have a squad a competent manager could do a lot with.
  20. I find it hard to believe Cortese leaving made any difference to Pochettino going. As soon as he knew Spurs wanted him he was likely to want to leave, it is hard to see why he'd view Saints with Cortese as preferable to Spurs. Backing Koeman with what? Saints reportedly him £86k per week wages, which is a very large figure in world football for a manager. Everton just offered more and huge amounts in the transfer market that Saints don't have available, the line had to be drawn somewhere.
  21. Some sound logic in his reasoning by him this week...! He is labelled "football expert", I'm struggling to see much in the way of reasoned, insightful, informed analysis.
  22. Why did you say deserve in the first post then?
  23. Nothing will change the minds of a lot of them, they think it is their right to bear arms just in case the Redcoats turn up again!
  24. We are not going to appoint Strachan, but you keep that conversation going...
