Every time a player comes here for negotiations, Lowe stamps on their foot thus reducing their transfer/wage value. You need every trick in the book in our financial position!

Now that they're playing so well, it worries me that players like Gillet, McGoldrick and Lallana only have this season left on their contract. I understand we are trying to agree a deal with Lallana, but what of the other two? Both Gillet and McGoldrick have been farmed out on loan and been left in the ressies for a long time. If (as it seems) they've seized their chance now after being overlooked for so long, no-one can blame them for finding a better club and more money (ala Baird). I say if they're still maintaining this level of performance after 10 games, sign 'em up before someone else gets in there! Sorry to put a slightly negative angle on this otherwise positive thread. However, it is relevant.

Doing a bit of research on the main site, I've found all of those players the club would like to get rid of have the following time left on their contracts: BWP - Signed 3 year deal - 1 year left Skacel - Signed 4 year deal - 2 years left Saganowski - Signed 3 year deal - 2 years left Euell - Signed 2 year deal - 1 year left Thomas - Signed 3 year deal - 2 years left Rasiak - Couldn't find the exact contract but would presume 4 years, which would leave 2 So, this time next year Skacel and Thomas will still be kicking about our reserves!!

I think you'll find that Lowe & Wilde took that position from Jasmine! And as regards to a player, I'm sure Kelvin Davis would still be the fans favourite in this area!!

Can anyone remember what he played like in the pre-season friendly? We are skint, so really we should only be bringing in players that will improve the team. I try to keep an open mind on all signings til I see them play, but I do worry this is a poor, poor signing.

Any idea when his contract is up? And all these other supposed high earners? Do we get rid of any next season?

Bit of a strange story. I'm not sure anyone took the Celtic speculation seriously and as with all the other 'senior' players, Dyer has to earn his place in the 1st team.

Good post and I agree entirely. When you look at where the new players are coming in, you have to say they are individually an improvement on last year's incumbents. I still worry about our lack of depth up front, as Rasiak is clearly off. If McG doesn't do the business and John gets injured or vice-versa - we are fooked for goals. We can't expect another youngster with zero experience (White or Paterson) to do the business in this league.

Don't forget Thomas and Makin too. The RB slot has been troublesome since Dodd 'lost it'. Telfer, Nillson, Delap, Prutton all played there with varying success but no consistency. I personally hope that if we ship out Rasiak and Skacel, there will be some funds to bring in a full-back IF we need to.
