  1. The rights of this game belonged to the Belarus FA, as it's their game. Rights to games cost alot of money (the Craotia game cost Setanta £5m), so the terrestial channels like the BBC and ITV are out of their depth. Setanta even wanted £1m just for highlights of the Croatia game, that's why it all went tits up.
  2. Balls, this is better:
  3. I bet he's not. He's only 26 and he'll only serve 3 and half years. As a GK, he couldplay til he was late 30's. And look at how quickly Lee Hughes found a new club after doing a similar thing. I bet he's snapped up by a Lge 1 club on his release.
  4. Chereidnik and Gotsmanov. OK, neither played much. McLoughlin & Grobbelaar are others I can think of, off the top of my head.
  5. Erm. Rule 1?
  6. NP was such an good bloke who wanted the club to do well, a source told me he would pay for Wright's wages out of his own personal savings if we signed him. True story, aledgedly.
  7. Errr. Whoever thinks that if we get relegated ticket prices are going to be £10-£15 - you are highly mistaken. Brighton charge £26 for a home ticket and that's at a very poor excuse for a ground. Prices might come down £2-£4, that's about it. Not that it will affect us though, as we'll be staying up!!
  8. A big LOL @ all the conjecture surrounding appearance fees! Skacel is clearly not fit having had no pre-season, he picked up another injury and has played 1 reserve game since then. If / when he is fit, he will get a chance if he's still here that is. As for John, we've only been playing with one striker up front. DMG has been playing better, had been scoring goals. The last 2 games he hasn't looked that good, so I'm sure John will get his chance. It is that simple people, no need to try and find something that isn't there. Think about this, if we couldn't afford to pay these supposed appearance fees, why would we add to the wage bill by making the numerous permanent signings we've made this season?
  9. I swear the deal has been stated at £9.25m, that means we miss out on £2.75m. Considering our financial predicament and the fact the last £2m was based on 20 competitive England starts which would still take some time to come in. I think the chairman made the right decision for the club. I as do with the Bale deal, we needed the cash - end of story.
  10. You find it hard to believe that a player that amassed over 1,000 league appearances and is England's most capped player (who would have had many more caps if it wasn't for Clemence), wasn't as good as Niemi?! Niemi was the best keeper we've had in the last 20 years, better than Flowers IMO. BUT, his achievements in the game do not compare to Shilton.
  11. Looking at the two squads, although it pains me to say it, Pompey have a better squad than West Ham. Harry would be stupid (hmmmmm) to take the job, considering he's going back and those fans are hard to please. I think the more likely to thing to happen is; Harry will talk to West Ham with no intention of taking the job, the bookies and media will have him down as a favourite for the job, only for him to turn it down and sign improved terms at Pompey, citing he could never leave his 'faux' spiritual home; even for his 'real' one.
  12. Interesting. Do we need another CB? I would have thought a recognised LB or RB would have been our targets...
  13. No students have started back yet, so it couldn't have been that!!

  15. Every time a player comes here for negotiations, Lowe stamps on their foot thus reducing their transfer/wage value. You need every trick in the book in our financial position!
  16. Now that they're playing so well, it worries me that players like Gillet, McGoldrick and Lallana only have this season left on their contract. I understand we are trying to agree a deal with Lallana, but what of the other two? Both Gillet and McGoldrick have been farmed out on loan and been left in the ressies for a long time. If (as it seems) they've seized their chance now after being overlooked for so long, no-one can blame them for finding a better club and more money (ala Baird). I say if they're still maintaining this level of performance after 10 games, sign 'em up before someone else gets in there! Sorry to put a slightly negative angle on this otherwise positive thread. However, it is relevant.
  17. Exactly. They could turn out like Adam Hammil...
  18. Whilst I don't like the music after goals either, I swear I read somewhere last season that Burley said the players preferred it. Not that it motivated to score more mind you and maybe the youngsters just have better taste?!
  19. Doing a bit of research on the main site, I've found all of those players the club would like to get rid of have the following time left on their contracts: BWP - Signed 3 year deal - 1 year left Skacel - Signed 4 year deal - 2 years left Saganowski - Signed 3 year deal - 2 years left Euell - Signed 2 year deal - 1 year left Thomas - Signed 3 year deal - 2 years left Rasiak - Couldn't find the exact contract but would presume 4 years, which would leave 2 So, this time next year Skacel and Thomas will still be kicking about our reserves!!
  20. I think you'll find that Lowe & Wilde took that position from Jasmine! And as regards to a player, I'm sure Kelvin Davis would still be the fans favourite in this area!!
  21. Can anyone remember what he played like in the pre-season friendly? We are skint, so really we should only be bringing in players that will improve the team. I try to keep an open mind on all signings til I see them play, but I do worry this is a poor, poor signing.
  22. Any idea when his contract is up? And all these other supposed high earners? Do we get rid of any next season?
  23. Thank fook for that.
  24. If he does get injured, then these t-shirts can go on the scrap heap with the 'Saints go Wilde' ones.
