  1. If I was the lad, I'd be stearing away from anywhere where my old man worked at this stage of my career. Only be accused of nepotism if he gets in the team anyway...
  2. This is very similar to a brochure I once saw, entitled: Employing Homosexuals: How to integrate rear-gunners in your work-place.
  3. It does. Particularly in South America, where it's been going on for years. Any decent player there has been signed up to an agent ala Tevez and Mascherano.
  4. To be honest, I think people must think the Police have special powers and they just choose not to use them. I sympathize with the OP, as getting your car broken into isn't nice especially in his circumstances. To be fair, he is lucky they didn't steal his blue badge, it's worth something. However, how the f*ck does anyone think the Police can catch the person who did it? If you didn't see it and can't give a description, how on earth can they do anything? Even then, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Re: the other posts about tyres being slashed, again what do you want the Police to do? What can they do? Have a bobby on every street corner? Cameras? Then we'd all be moaning about how we've got no privacy, how it's 1984 - they just can't win. The Old Bill don't do themselves many favours sometimes, but people expect too much, they really do.
  5. LOL. Seriously though, can't people use their intelligence here? Whoever thinks Lowe will be on the sidelines barking orders out to the players needs their heads read. Some people are so 'Lowe obsessed' they're losing touch with reality. What's the next story? We'll probably hear about how Lowe burst into the changing room at half-time, kicked a boot in anger, clocking David McGoldrick in the eye....Now that would be a scoop.
  6. If Burley had been a bit quicker off the mark, we may have got Chopra instead.
  7. For all the people who think we'd start on a 'clean slate' after Admin. I guess you're right, it really would be a clean slate. Training ground will be sold. God knows what will happen about the stadium, sale and lease back? Absolutely no decent players left. Loads more people will lose their jobs, also meaning the club can't be run properly. How is this going to be a good thing? Admin doesn't just wipe out your debts so you can start again, we will be royally fooked with absolutely no assets and prob a massive points deduction to start the season (depending on the circumstances).
  8. My mate said the other day: 'That's a stone-cold penalty!' LOL.
  9. You what? You what? You what?-You what?-You what?
  10. This report is a load of sh!te. What about the years we managed to stay in the Prem on a shoestring budget and 15k attendances at the Dell? Compare that with the mega-bucks that Pompey have spent on transfers and wages. Even Wigan and Hull have spent through the divisions. We are crap now, but no-way 77th.
  11. Sorry to be pedantic, but the same kicker can't have another crack at a pen, if it comes off the frame of the goal. Another player has to touch it first...
  12. Neither do you, if you think Lowe is the MAIN reason we're having these crowds: 1) Fans are rightly ****ed off from the amount of dross that has been served up for the past four seasons. 2) Add into that a complete lack of Senior players worth wanting to go and see, then there's your answer. OK, it's nice to see some homegrown kids do well, but it's not the same as having some genuinely talented players playing well. 3) Credit crunch is biting alot of people's asses, and footy will be the first thing to go. Or, is it your far more reasoned argument, that we have lost £10k supporters all down to nasty Mr Lowe? Like I said, if we were top of the league the place would be buzzing. It's only cos we are sh*te that we are having these crowds, this is what happens when a team consistently fails to perform anywhere near fans expectations, for such a long time.
  13. This business about Lowe keeping crowds away is a load of old tosh. If we were top of the league, we'd have £25k+ crowds, no problem. Lowe is just a convenient excuse not to go to the game.
  14. The rights of this game belonged to the Belarus FA, as it's their game. Rights to games cost alot of money (the Craotia game cost Setanta £5m), so the terrestial channels like the BBC and ITV are out of their depth. Setanta even wanted £1m just for highlights of the Croatia game, that's why it all went tits up.
  15. Balls, this is better:
  16. I bet he's not. He's only 26 and he'll only serve 3 and half years. As a GK, he couldplay til he was late 30's. And look at how quickly Lee Hughes found a new club after doing a similar thing. I bet he's snapped up by a Lge 1 club on his release.
  17. Chereidnik and Gotsmanov. OK, neither played much. McLoughlin & Grobbelaar are others I can think of, off the top of my head.
  18. Erm. Rule 1?
  19. NP was such an good bloke who wanted the club to do well, a source told me he would pay for Wright's wages out of his own personal savings if we signed him. True story, aledgedly.
  20. Errr. Whoever thinks that if we get relegated ticket prices are going to be £10-£15 - you are highly mistaken. Brighton charge £26 for a home ticket and that's at a very poor excuse for a ground. Prices might come down £2-£4, that's about it. Not that it will affect us though, as we'll be staying up!!
  21. A big LOL @ all the conjecture surrounding appearance fees! Skacel is clearly not fit having had no pre-season, he picked up another injury and has played 1 reserve game since then. If / when he is fit, he will get a chance if he's still here that is. As for John, we've only been playing with one striker up front. DMG has been playing better, had been scoring goals. The last 2 games he hasn't looked that good, so I'm sure John will get his chance. It is that simple people, no need to try and find something that isn't there. Think about this, if we couldn't afford to pay these supposed appearance fees, why would we add to the wage bill by making the numerous permanent signings we've made this season?
  22. I swear the deal has been stated at £9.25m, that means we miss out on £2.75m. Considering our financial predicament and the fact the last £2m was based on 20 competitive England starts which would still take some time to come in. I think the chairman made the right decision for the club. I as do with the Bale deal, we needed the cash - end of story.
  23. You find it hard to believe that a player that amassed over 1,000 league appearances and is England's most capped player (who would have had many more caps if it wasn't for Clemence), wasn't as good as Niemi?! Niemi was the best keeper we've had in the last 20 years, better than Flowers IMO. BUT, his achievements in the game do not compare to Shilton.
  24. Looking at the two squads, although it pains me to say it, Pompey have a better squad than West Ham. Harry would be stupid (hmmmmm) to take the job, considering he's going back and those fans are hard to please. I think the more likely to thing to happen is; Harry will talk to West Ham with no intention of taking the job, the bookies and media will have him down as a favourite for the job, only for him to turn it down and sign improved terms at Pompey, citing he could never leave his 'faux' spiritual home; even for his 'real' one.
