  1. I can confirm that Dewsbury is full of nutters. My brother lives in Huddersfield and is a paramedic, he had a brick thrown at his ambulance windscreen while 'blue lighting' at 60 mph in Dewsbury. You will all also remember the Shannon Matthews debacle, well she lived there. I have another story from a copper, but I'm not going to repeat it, as I'm likely to get banned... Northern Monkeys* * I hope no primates are offended by my post
  2. Lit up a dour game yesterday. Hope we get to see him play for at least a few seasons established in the 1st team, does look like an excellent prospect. Incidentally, I have chant for him: Oooh, Alex Chamber-lain His Dad was a skate But, his son's a Saint! To the tune of Crouchie, Crouchie... Wonder if that'll get off the ground?!
  3. This is best quote I've seen so far from Osbourne: 16 Families! I'm no Tory, I'm lefty leaning and do think people who NEED help - should get it. However, the system has been fooked right up and people are taking p^ss big time. The system and also the ethos around benefits has to change. Benefits should be an absolute last resort. People should start taking more responsibility for themselves (where they can) and people should not EXPECT the Gov just to look after them. As an example, someone I know, was giving Job Seekers allowance (or whatever it's termed) for months having just left college with multiple A* at GCSES and 2 A's and B at A-Level. These type of people, I'd say 'sorry, you can find a job easily - no benefits I'm afraid'. I saw an article on the Guardian how a young single Mother of 3, was moaning because she needed a 4 bedroomed house, so they could have a room each! WTF! Be grateful the council found you anywhere to live. Where has this expectation of deserving something for absolutely nothing, come from??
  4. If we're loaning out fringe players to a side above us, I think it just highlights the strength of our squad (particularly in defence). He's never going to start ahead of Harding and Dickson, although I think he is decent player with a decent (but not amazing) pro career ahead of him. Unfortunately, this also only highlights how poor our current league position is. Certainly in comparison to teams like B'mouth and Brighton, who've spent a fraction of what we have in fees and wages. On the flip-side, it is also a cause for optimism - I'm hoping that NA can consistently get the best out of this group of players. We should have no problem get promoted if he does...
  5. You'll get clamped if you park at SSU. I work there and a notice has just been put up about parking at w/ends. Not worth the £150.00 it'll cost ya...
  6. Get your 'mates' to pay you back. They owe you right? I take it the accident isn't in dispute? If this is the case, either you or they owe the money. You won't get out of it on the back of this...
  7. Seeing as we offered an ageing Italian £7k a week. Even if he is on £4k now (when did he sign his last contract - when we were skint?), we'd offer him closer to £10k I would have thought, more if we were def in the C'ship.
  8. Last time I checked, Ian Andrews was physio at Team Bath. Is it something to do with them?
  9. I'm sure Lallana is keeping his options open. He is 22 now and 2 seasons in this league is enough for him. He's arguably the best player in this division, he is completely two-footed, which not many players in this league can lay a claim to. Not enough people mention this, which makes me wonder if people now much about playing football. He also scores goals and makes a lot of chances, and from midfield - that is golddust. He has made a massive difference to the team since his return to injury and his absence really highlighted his worth to the team. I'm sure NC and NA realise this and he will be offered very good terms at the club. Depends if he wants to take it or not. I really hope we can can keep him, as I've really had enough of losing the 'crowd favourites' and above all - he is an entertaining player. That's what I pay money to see -entertainment. Out of all the current crop of players, I would be most gutted if Lallana left.
  10. Puffs...
  11. No. Funnily enough, it's the Manager (in Pardew's case) who sold the club, squad and ambitions to a player I know was offered a contract.
  12. I know for a fact that Cortese doesn't get involved in the TALKS with a player, including contract offering. Not sure if it came to a negotiation scenario though, I presume he would make an offer the player couldn't refuse?!
  13. @SaintRichmond: Please STOP capitalising RANDOM words IN your posts until YOU have WORKED out HOW to do IT properly. IT'S annoying. THAT is ALL.
  14. I'm really looking forward to this. I've listened to all the old radio shows, podcasts and audiobooks. Karl is a genius, his views are amazingly funny! Head like a f'ing Orange!

    Wages

Yep. It was Ighli Vannucci. We offered him a 2 year deal (even though he's now 33!) on £350k a year. He was keen to come as the deal was good for him, but he has two young children and one on the way, he also didn't speak much English! I presume this is why Guly was signed, we were obviously looking for a player of this mould. First and only time I have been 100% ITK - feel it's safe for it to be out there now, esp as Pardew's been given the boot! Shame he didn't sign, as I would have been party to allsorts of ITK info...

    Wages

Pardew was out of work, and whilst his profile is bigger than Adkins - I can't see we would be paying him that much more. Would have been performance related bonuses inc. I would expect. To put it all in perspective: I know (for an absolute FACT!) we offered a player £350k a year in the summer (who turned us down, as he didn't want to leave the country he was in). Works out about £6.7k a week. Lambert must be on at least £10k, plus goal bonus. Players always get a lot more than the Mgr!!
  17. I had to let a bird go, as she threatened to get a Season Ticket next to me this season! Have now got a bird who has very little interest in footy. Although, should there be an interest showed, I'm liking the suggestion above about choosing a toss game.
  18. To be honest, I agree completely with you Rev Saint. Let me put this is context first as it's a precarious subject. Firstly, I am extremely grateful that the bloke saved my club. Had we gone to the wall, I'm not sure what I would have done. I certainly wouldn't enjoy football as much as I do now, as I couldn't have supported anyone else. Secondly, I do have commiserations for his family - the same I would do if anyone connected to Saints died. However, I think all the suggestions of re-naming the stadium, face on the seats, black stripe on the kit, black kit all season - is way, way over the top, verging on the embarassing. Very, very few fans would have met Markus and all this outpouring of grief is pathetic and self-gratifying. WIFM is the most cringe-worthy and pathetic suggestion I've ever seen in my life - grow some balls - you're all blokes aren't you?! I don't see why he should have a bigger accolade than Ted, who put 40 years of his life into this club. Let's commemorate his death in the same way we would any other Saints great: 1. Minutes silence 2. Black armbands I agree that Markus deserves a little than an ex-player, so the Training Ground would be a perfect thing to leave a lasting legacy. Let's have a bit of class about this, and not turn into Scousers and start lighting a candle or boycotting a paper at the drop of a hat... I know people won't like this post, but it needed to be said and at least I've got the ****** to say it. Try and make your replies, considered, objective and intelligent...
  19. Blimey, that's a shock. Maybe too many players are being sold from beneath him? Milner is almost certainly gone and Spurs are after Young. Thought he did well really, considering. Last year they got to the League Cup Final, FA Cup Semi and finished 6th. Unless you're Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal - that's a good season for any team.
  20. LOL. Just seen this thread. I must have gone to this festival about 5/6 times when I was young. My parents took me and siblings until we decided it was too uncool to go anymore. My parents and younger brother still go. My parents must have gone every year for about the last 20 years, although they don't slum it anymore and stay in the Travel Inn! To be honest, it's a cracking little festival, although hardly any of the music is to my taste anymore. Things I remember about the place are Donut Vans, could smell them from miles away, used to 5 for £1, then 4 for £1, then 4 for £1.50. God knows how much they are now! Also remember people carrying round round and fat cider bottles. The pub is always packed too, the Brase Nose? Proper hippy event...
  21. Central Europe? I'm off out, may have some more concrete news later...
  22. I have also heard this. If it's the same player, he is a bit older but extremely accomplished in the AMC role. May be a very good fit if we are to play 4-5-1 more. And, no - it's not Svensson.
  23. Gobern was released in the summer...
  24. No wonder you're so miserable, I bet you haven't seen your **** in years....
  25. This lad is a very decent player. Was at Birmingham on loan I think and Bruce took him to Wigan on a permanent. If he came here, he wouldn't be 'an impact player from the bench', he'd be looking to push the starting XI. Also, on Soccerbase it states he has been signed by Hapoel, not a loan...Personally can't see him dropping this low.
