To be honest, I agree completely with you Rev Saint. Let me put this is context first as it's a precarious subject. Firstly, I am extremely grateful that the bloke saved my club. Had we gone to the wall, I'm not sure what I would have done. I certainly wouldn't enjoy football as much as I do now, as I couldn't have supported anyone else. Secondly, I do have commiserations for his family - the same I would do if anyone connected to Saints died. However, I think all the suggestions of re-naming the stadium, face on the seats, black stripe on the kit, black kit all season - is way, way over the top, verging on the embarassing. Very, very few fans would have met Markus and all this outpouring of grief is pathetic and self-gratifying. WIFM is the most cringe-worthy and pathetic suggestion I've ever seen in my life - grow some balls - you're all blokes aren't you?! I don't see why he should have a bigger accolade than Ted, who put 40 years of his life into this club. Let's commemorate his death in the same way we would any other Saints great: 1. Minutes silence 2. Black armbands I agree that Markus deserves a little than an ex-player, so the Training Ground would be a perfect thing to leave a lasting legacy. Let's have a bit of class about this, and not turn into Scousers and start lighting a candle or boycotting a paper at the drop of a hat... I know people won't like this post, but it needed to be said and at least I've got the ****** to say it. Try and make your replies, considered, objective and intelligent...

Blimey, that's a shock. Maybe too many players are being sold from beneath him? Milner is almost certainly gone and Spurs are after Young. Thought he did well really, considering. Last year they got to the League Cup Final, FA Cup Semi and finished 6th. Unless you're Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal - that's a good season for any team.

LOL. Just seen this thread. I must have gone to this festival about 5/6 times when I was young. My parents took me and siblings until we decided it was too uncool to go anymore. My parents and younger brother still go. My parents must have gone every year for about the last 20 years, although they don't slum it anymore and stay in the Travel Inn! To be honest, it's a cracking little festival, although hardly any of the music is to my taste anymore. Things I remember about the place are Donut Vans, could smell them from miles away, used to 5 for £1, then 4 for £1, then 4 for £1.50. God knows how much they are now! Also remember people carrying round round and fat cider bottles. The pub is always packed too, the Brase Nose? Proper hippy event...

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

I have also heard this. If it's the same player, he is a bit older but extremely accomplished in the AMC role. May be a very good fit if we are to play 4-5-1 more. And, no - it's not Svensson. -
Gobern was released in the summer...

No wonder you're so miserable, I bet you haven't seen your **** in years.... -
This lad is a very decent player. Was at Birmingham on loan I think and Bruce took him to Wigan on a permanent. If he came here, he wouldn't be 'an impact player from the bench', he'd be looking to push the starting XI. Also, on Soccerbase it states he has been signed by Hapoel, not a loan...Personally can't see him dropping this low.

Have you never played in a 11 a-side footy team? You wear a whole kit that someone has more than likely sweat in quite a bit. Wonders of 'New & Improved' Ariel...

There really is no need for concern. There have only been 59 transfers concerning Lge 1 clubs so far (1 was ours - Dickson). Divide that by 24 teams and it's 2 and a bit... We all knew last season the prices were dirt cheap. Renewals worked out at something like 12 quid a game. It's almost that to watch Eastleigh play! The price rises will be steady til we get to the Prem. That's what we all want, isn't it?!
-
As we really need someone to kick the **** out of people in midfield, then I would say that both Gavin Mahon and Shaun Derry could do a job at this level. Carsley would be great on the sort of deal we have Connolly at the moment. Otherwise, would Gary McSheffrey be worth a gamble? Was a very very good player a couple of seasons ago. Also spotted Sam Sodje in there...

St Etienne interested in Schneiderlin
Saint Mikey replied to forever a red and white's topic in The Saints
Agreed. On the label Skint, of Fatboy Slim fame... -
There's a comment on that Echo article that someone emailed the Ticket Office, who replied stating details would be released on Mon. So, looks like the long wait will soon be over. I, for one, will be glad when this long embarassing saga can be put behind us and we can all look forward to next season.

I have it on good authority that Pardew was extremely unhappy about a number of 'incidents' involving Lloydy. One of them was involving a 'lady of the night' in Wales, but was hushed up by the club. Another was a boozy fracas, also in Wales that got back to Pardew but never made the papers. This was just prior to the JPT Final and explains his lack of appearance in the game at all. From then on, his cards were marked.

If we can shift: Molyneux, Forecast, Pulis, Wotton and Holmes. That'll be all the deadwood IMO.
-
Me too. Let the delusion begin. I remember when we were first relegated and whilst I wasn't one of the 'we'll walk this league' brigade. I did expect us to be more competitive than we were. They are in a world of trouble compared to the shambles our squad was in when we went down. I think even if they escape a points deduction, they'll be lucky to stay up.
-
LOL. Take the rose-tinted specs off. He's miles ahead of Waigo and Antonio, different player completely to Lallana and maybe on par with Puncheon. IMO would be a great signing, although we have bigger concerns elsewhere in the squad...

What's Cortese's email address? I want to make sure he bucks up his ideas and starts stocking Ye Olde Ringwood Ale. Doesn't he know how many half pints he'll sell?
-
Very good. You're on form early in the morning! Shouldn't you be sewing on that 'Motorhead' patch to the back of your leather jacket???
-
If they don't start stocking real ales, I'm not renewing my ST.
-
Would be a good signing for about 250K-500k. Over that and I'd be thinking we could get better for the price. No-one, is going to pay a mill for him.
-
It would be nice. But, if he doesn't get a move to a lower league P'ship club or decent C'ship club, I'd be surprised. He's shown ability at the top flight in a pony side. He'd be cheapish, so can see a fair few teams being in for him.
-
The Duke of Buckleigh would have bought them, but unfortunately he's had his head knocked clean off from a golf ball.

Why would Fergie spend 20m on Bale when he's got Evra? Also, why would Bale go there knowing Evra will be first choice. Have a good think about it people... Re; the argument above about Holmes. When judging the success of a transfer, surely you have to look at how many games have been played. OK, a player can be unlucky with injury, but the about of games played gives a good indication: All comps: 16 (6) - 2 goals In two seasons, that's crap. End of.
