  1. I agree, but I listen to this show as a Podcast where I think it actually works a lot better than a TV show. I agree that Brian Woolnough is a c*ck, but they do have some very good journos like Henry Winter and Patrick Barclay. The Guardian Podcast is still the best thing about, regardless...
  2. Agreed. Also, due to the current state of the economy, isn't advertising down generally?
  3. Hammill had a consistently good season and a half for Barnsley, hence why he got a move to Wolves. I know he was frustrating when he was here, but he has developed into a better player. You've just listed a load of strikers. Although I agree that they aren't brilliant players, apart from Wellbeck, who I think can be very decent. Overall, I agree though. Lallana has only done what he's done in Lge 1, which will probably prevent from being in the final squad. Despite IMO being good enough.
  4. Decent piece. Looking at the squad, Albrighton, Hammill and Sinclair are all ahead of him, but other than that who else is an option on the wing? Considering Lallana gives an option on both. Rose? Is all left-peg, I think? An awful lot of CM's in there. England U21 provisional squad: Frank Fielding (Blackburn), Scott Loach (Watford), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough), Alex McCarthy (Reading), Joe Bennett (Middlesbrough), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jones (Blackburn), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Ben Mee (Manchester City), Kyle Naughton (Tottenham), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), James Tomkins (West Ham), Kieran Trippier (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham), Marc Albrighton (Aston Villa), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Jay Spearing (Liverpool) Adam Hammill (Wolves), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Jonny Howson (Leeds), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Henri Lansbury (Arsenal), Josh McEachran (Chelsea), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Scott Sinclair (Swansea), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Andrew Carroll (Liverpool), Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa), Gary Hooper (Celtic), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley), Freddie Sears (West Ham), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), James Vaughan (Everton), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United), Connor Wickham (Ipswich).
  5. Anyone on here, playing at St Mary's on Sat?
  6. Also, as I said before - due to UEFA's new Financial Fair Play policy, we wouldn't be able to do an Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour, if we wanted to compete in Europe.
  7. No comparison. I'm willing to bet ALL attendances were down 15 years ago.
  8. If you think about it rationally, without rose-tinted glasses. We are not a big enough club to continually finish top 4 in the Prem. We would need massive investment every year to finish 4th, we couldn't do it on our income generation alone. Well, we have wealthy owners I hear you cry. What about UEFA's new fairness policy then? I think it is an impossible dream, and we should be over the moon if we ever get up and have the sort of success Stoke, Bolton and Fulham have had the last few years. Even Everton are a much bigger club than us and struggle financially. FFS.
  9. Good call. Kleber Chala aka Delgado's mate would be another one...
  10. Have there been two players signed by the club, that have made less of a contribution then these two? Obviously not including youngsters, but players we've signed to come into the first team at some point. I know Forecast has been sub a few times, has he ever made a 1st team appearance? Has Pulis ever even made the bench? Off the top of my head, I can't think of any that have made less of a contribution. I can also think of an awful lot of players that were terrible that made a lot of appearances! To be fair, it's not the player's fault themselves, I'd take a contract if offered to me! What is so disappointing is that in this day and age, surely more than one person is involved in signing a player? Also at that time we were skint and every signing counted. To be fair to Lowe at that time, at least he got it right when he signed Morgan...
  11. 'I've looked at all your strengths and weaknesses and decided that the person to do the pitch is...me.' LOL. You couldn't make it up...
  12. I've heard that ONLY current ST holders will be allowed one next season. No new business in this area.
  13. Stay off the pitch yer b@stards. I'm playing in the Saints Foundation game, and don't want the pitch ruined!
  14. Once you've paid your Lady Goddiver, I'll be happy to answer a few questions on this. This book will be good for research: Steaming In - Colin Ward. Easily the best book of it's time. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Steaming-Colin-Ward/dp/0743495500 Also, as you're probably a pup. Watch this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/I-D-DVD-Reece-Dinsdale/dp/B00004W4H5/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1302881265&sr=8-2 Whilst it won't help with your dissertation, it is a decent film on the subject.
  15. 'And man, I got a double-super buzz. Here I was a huffing a-airplane glue in a sandwich bag. Y'know just breathing it all into to my lungs and gettin' high, and then I'd take me a hit of that gas, right after a huge hit - man, you talkin' 'bout a warped mind? I got one.'
  16. Signed up for this. Really hope it goes ahead!
  17. Adele? (Meant to quote this before..)
  18. I've heard Attilio Lombardo owns a Kindle. True story.
  19. Almost as good as behind us. Imbecile 1: Fooks sake Hammond, you're crap Imbecile 2: I think that's Seabourne Imbecile 1: Where's Martin? Imbecile 2: Dunno. Imbecile 1: He should be playing. D'oh. Also, the other week it was: Imbecile 1: Who's the right back? Imbecile 2: Butterfield. Imbecile 3: Oh yeah, Danny Butterfield, he's only a young nipper, 19/20, he's doing well. Quality fans.
  20. Nope. N'Dululu = 8pts Funk = 11pts :-)
  21. Almost as funny as someone buying shares in an obvious dead-duck.
  22. If there's a better fans site than that, I'd like to see it! Quality style and content. Well worth a look if you want to see how it should be done. If only more people paid their fiver subscription, the owners of this site might be able to come up with something similar - FFS.
  23. HMV can only blame themselves for their downfall. They have failed to recognise the direction of the market, which started changing 10 years ago as Amazon and other online companies like CD Wow grew in prominence. As soon as these companies started taking their market share they should have joined the online market - properly. Their own online version is pants, and isn't advertised nearly enough. Factor in as mentioned above, the price of CD's - which are a joke, unless it's the most recent X-Factor album. They also should have thought about the digital market a lot more, and have been overtaken by Apple in this respect. I would really hate HMV to go, as like many others, it's a symbol of my youth, growing up and my adult life. It would feel like a little erosion of your life, more than Woolies but less than Fosters :-) (which funnily enough was where HMV is now!). BUT, it really is their own fault. Woeful attention shown to how the market was moving, and now it's probably too late.
  24. Thing is, even if we were in the Prem we'd be losing our best players. If teams like Villa & Everton can't hold onto their players because they want to be paid more and have the 'prospect' of European football, what chance would we realistically have? Even when we were an established side in the Prem, finished 8th and got to the Cup Final - we still lost Bridge to Chelsea. It is just the order of the food-chain. We are just even lower down than we used to be. As an a-side point. These 'Top Predictions for the Future' rarely turn out that way. I remember years ago a lad called Steven Schumacher who was an Everton youngster was going to be running England's midfield - he's currently playing for Bury, having made most of his appearances for Bradford City. There must be countless other examples..
