MOD to pay for soldier being late on parade
Saint Mikey replied to Viking Warrior's topic in The Lounge
I love this quote. We are ALL pretty much German. Have a look and see where the Angles and Saxons came from... -

I have a spare ticket for sale to charity!
Saint Mikey replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
I bid £10k and promise to give the money to charity, honest. -
As I see it: IN Semi - Def worth keeping for another year, has looked decent Connolly - Def worth same sort of deal as this season Antonio - Worth a year or two, is young and prob relatively low wages James - Again prob worth another year or two, can't see him progressing even to a good Championship player though OUT Thomas - Wages too high and we could pick up a better free to replace Wotton - Sh!te and can get a lot better on a free Lancashire - Shame, as I thought he had potential, turned out to be sh!te Molyneux - Sh!te Pulis - Sh!te Undecided Waigo - I think it all depends what may be out there as a replacement. I'm still a little unconvinced by Waigo Retired Perry Murty

Good work again chaps, keep it up. Something else for me to listen to at work! -
Have we ever done a non-European Saints XI? I'm sure we have, but I'll have a go anyway: Grobellaar Viafara - Jaidi - Tahar - Chereidnik Fuller - Belmadi - Safri - Kachloul Jones - Delgado Subs: Torpedo, Chala, Gotsmanov, Brennan, Euell, John, Yahia, Kanchelskis, Ali Dia! Loans we've had, not included: Sarmiento, Camara Pretty dump side, apart from the attacking options...I'm sure I've forgotten some though?

Amy Williams Gold medal open top bus tour thing

Rule 1. She would get it... -
Plus, as I remember. The reason why Leeds, B'mouth and Luton all couldn't get their CVA's was because the HMRC would not agree to it. On much, much less sums owed. HMRC will flex as much to power as they own to get back as much as possible. They have to. This is a massively public case and they can't be seen to be taking it easy on football clubs. Not when they're owed £11m odd - that would fund a couple of schools!

I presume the land that Gaydamak owns around the stadium is registered to a separate company? So is protected if they go into Admin or Liquidation? If so, the Administrator will have fook all assets to sell. The stadium and the squad (both of dubious worth). What's the weather gonna be like next season? -20?!

It got Ricky Gervais, Rameses II and Banksy, which I was pretty impressed with. Didn't get Grooverider though...

Not a bad effort chaps. I listen to a lot of podcasts, the Guardian and The Times footy ones religiously. If you do continue, it would be nice if you could have a quick phone chat with special guests. Current players, ex-players telling their stories of the club, any coaches, physio or even the manager giving us a bit of insight. Maybe even Cortese would give you 5 mins! OK, so maybe over doing it, but surely you'd be able to dig up some ex-players to have a chat? Good work though...

I'm just writing a Flash demo for a Student Debt Day and wanted some clipart to build into it. I've just done a Google image search on 'penniless' and a couple of pages in there's a pic of Storrie! Quality stuff.
-
Maybe, if we haven't got one stashed away somewhere else (I've never seen one at the Dell or St Mary's). Cortese should get one, seeing as he's on a PR mission at the moment...

Our trophy cabinet is poor. We don't even have a replica of the FA Cup. Also, embarrassingly, there is a plate from a 5 a-side compo we won years ago - talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel!

I got I'd for smokes the other day on this rule - I'm 32. I would take it as a compliment, but the woman was a dinlo, so I can't really!

Band Of Brothers - British miniseries version, ideas?
Saint Mikey replied to Crab Lungs's topic in The Lounge
Agreed. You'd hope that if they did do something like this, then C4 would get hold of it. Anything on BBC is dire and the thought of ITV commissioning something like this and doing even a half-decent job, is laughable. Sky1 is also very hit and miss. I agree with the previous posts. Where is our HBO? Surely there's a market for a channel, with the amount of people who pay for satellite TV these days. That would surely give the budget to create these shows. No dramas we've produced in the last 10-15 years, have even come close to The Sopranos, The Wire or indeed BOB. -
I can understand his point of view. After all he did play a handful of games for Lge 2 Bournemouth!
-
I still hope they lose some more players before we play them. Currently their team could look something like this: Jamie Ashdown Steve Finnan - Aaron Mokoena - Tal Ben-Haim - Hermann Hreidarsson Tommy Smith - Kevin Boateng - Michael Brown - Richard Hughes Piquionne - Utaka Subs: Antti Niemi, Angelos Basinas, Danny Webber, Hayden Mullins, Mark Wilson, Nadir Belhadj, N****wo Kanu, Vanden Borre, Yebda Injured: Pape Bouba Diop Still a decent side and capable of beating us. Hopefully they will lose a few more and have some injuries too!

Stop speculating, forward and midfielder find out first on OS!
Saint Mikey replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Garvan would be an even bigger and better signing than Lambert. The boy has quality and has played over 15 games for EIRE. Not sure if I can see this happening, but will be over the moon if so! -
Pop down to St Pauls, very friendly down there - so I hear...

No. 3-5-2 is a pretty much defunct formation in footy these days. 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 and swapping between the two is the preferred method, with the good ol' 4-4-2 of course. Even 4-2-3-1, come to think of it... When was the last time you can remember a team playing 3-5-2? Don't say Utd v Fulham either, as they had no defenders...
-
Ridiculously cheap booze and fags though. Can't believe no-one's mentioned this. Otherwise, I agree - a dump.
-
On checking, they can't sell Smith or Williamson either, as they both played games for Watford. I don't think that Ben Haim counts, as he didn't play a competitive game (according to Soccerbase).
-
In short, no. Here's there squad list and my guestimates on what they'll be worth: Current Squad 1 David James (G) - £500k 3 Younes Kaboul (D) - £2m 4 Aaron Mokoena (D) - £500k 6 Hayden Mullins (M) -£1m 7 Hermann Hreidarsson (D) - Free 8 Pape Bouba Diop (M) - £1m 11 Michael Brown (M) - £2m 14 Mike Williamson (D) -£500k 16 Steve Finnan (D) -£500k 17 John Utaka (F) - Free (due to massive wages) 19 Danny Webber (F) -£500k 20 Tommy Smith (F) -£500k 21 Jamie Ashdown (G) -£250k 22 Richard Hughes (M) -£500k 23 Kevin Boateng (M) Can't be sold 26 Tal Ben-Haim (D) - £2m 27 N****wo Kanu (F) - Free 29 Antti Niemi (G) - Free 31 Asmir Begovic (G) - £3m 33 Angelos Basinas (M) - Free 35 Mark Wilson (D) - £500k 37 Gael Nlundulu (M) Who??? 39 Nadir Belhadj (D) - £1m (Contract ends this season) I make that £16.25m if they sell their entire squad. OK some of these valuations are a bit out, but consider what we got for Surman and McGoldrick, well below what we'd have got if we were financially buoyant. At the absolute most, they'd get £20-£25m for their entire squad. Also, there may be more cases like Utaka, where his wages are so high they just want to get rid. James and Diop are ones that springs to mind.
