This reminds me of the time when I heard some lads moan about Guly outside the stadium before a game, claiming that they 'had a better first touch'. Not sure how many Serie B, or Championship games these lads had played, but I reckon it was zero. I thought it was ironic that they were essentially paying to see Guly play, whilst claiming they were better players! You're living in an absolute fantasy land to think that anyone on here could have done a better job on recruitment. Just look at those jokers down the road when they pretty much had fans on board, they were clueless. Since they've shed them, they've improved their recruitment of players and managers massively.

Southgate's selections in these two games have been influenced by him wanting to show loyalty to the WC group, including the players that didn't play. I would expect the next round of games to have more players staking a claim in the squad and first team. Still can't see us beating any 'big' teams until we get a world class DM (in the Kante type mould), or AM (in the Eriksen type mould). Our midfield is so pedestrian. You can't fault Henderson for effort, but he hasn't got the ability to control a game in the same way as a Modric, Busquets etc. Having one player of this quality would improve us massively.

The fact he wasn't even on bench last night, shows the clubhave told him that unless he goes on loan this year, he's going to be playingzero football this season. Unlikely to even play in U23s, is he? Given Lewis is likelyto play in those games. Going to have a serious detriment to his career, a wholeseason with no football…

I still feel ashamed how these were treated by the fans
Saint Mikey replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
In fairness, he did a decent job at Birmingham and at Burton Albion prior to that. Has struggled since though, and with much more resources than his first appointments... -
The forum is an utter mess now. I have floating javascript code all over the place, it's constantly jumpy and slows to a halt. #mess

What do you want the club to say? 'Yeah, we f**ked up, turns out he's sh!t and we've wasted £20m'. Privately they may think that, but they are never going to say that in public, and neither should they. The player is on loan, has an opportunity to play games and potentially we may get some of fee back we paid. I'll be really worried if people at the top start making statements like this, as it'll show we are run by absolute amateurs.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Saint Mikey replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Out of interest, how many caps did Van Dijk and Alderweireld have for Holland and Belgium, when we signed them? Can't remember them being fully established first choice CBs. -
Thanks for posting. Very interesting, some of ads made me laugh!

I heard this in the Northam on Weds night, after he scored. Face palm moment.

Hi Amy...

I hadn't realised this, and agree it's a shame. Used to get this every week as a youngster too, and then in my 20's to look at the local league results/tables that I played in. Most the information contained in the Pink, can now be accessed online. Local/Hampshire leagues have had their own websites for over a decade. As you say, it is an achievement it lasted this long.

I wouldn't be concerned about that. The opposition will have done comprehensive analysis, and none of this will be new to them. Agreed on style though. Romeu's comments on 'finding balance' and 'moving the ball more quickly in attacking areas' has been highlighted by many. Points to the fact that our attacking options aren't good enough at the moment. Again nothing new to anyone who's been following us for the last 2 seasons. Hoping for a positive addition in Jan, then a mini-overhaul in the Summer. Long, Austin, Tadic could all be replaced. All must be good earners in the club. With other attacking players like Davis, Redmond and Boufal who don't contribute regularly - we'll be in trouble next season if we don't sort this out.

I've never understood why gay people fought for marriage or have anything to do with religion. Christian & Muslim religions are vehement that being gay is wrong and against the way you should live your life. They have also systematically persecuted and oppressed homosexuals. Why would you want to align yourself with something that has behaved in this way, and holds this opinion of the way you live? Civil partnerships, I can completely understand. You are committing yourself to another person, just like marriage. Just don't understand why this wasn't enough? For the same reasons, I don't understand why women have anything to do with these religions. Why fight to be involved in something that has oppressed, undermined and held you back for thousands of years?

According to Wiki we have been trailing him since 2015. Also been managed by Bielsa, so Pellegrino could have sought his advice.

Thought you'd use your chopper, Zed? -
What a desperate squad. Looking weak at CB, CM and upfront. Practically the whole spine...

I was thinking this the other day, after seeing Akinde's scoring record at Barnet. Anyone got a list of players that have left in the last few years, that have gone on prosper for other clubs? Sonny Bradley & Ricky Holmes also leap to mind.

Chris Nicholl looks back at last LC Semi- Pretty Sad Article
Saint Mikey replied to once_bitterne's topic in The Saints
Sad to see someone who was a great player and manager for us, down on his luck a bit. There will be many players who've played for us in the last 20 years, who didn't have anywhere near the impact as Nicholl, yet will have their feet up on easy street - financially. It seems unfair, but comes with the era. -
Bournemouth still would have stayed up that year, as they finished 21st, ahead of Luton, Chester and Grimsby: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008%E2%80%9309_Football_League_Two Still don't see how the Skates avoided this kind of harsh points deduction though.

I genuinely think that this delusion is a factor in their inability to progress from this level. Every player is fed this tripe, about being a 'massive' club, as soon as they get through the door. Do the players then think they have an entitlement to win, as they are so massive?! Other clubs clearly see them for what they are, a Div 4 club - there on merit. If they faced up to that, then they just might be able to use the factors they have to their advantage in this league, to actually progress.

Heard Sparta chants already in Town. They will probably besiege Yates as Vitesse did last year...
-
Which will make all those 'shareholders' rich, beyond their wildest dreams! A takeover would be quite amusing actually, just for the fact that they own fook all, to dawn on a segment of the phew, that actually believe that they own part of the club.
-
Maybe they had enough of all the superfans wasting time by starting their questions with, 'I've been a Saints fan for 20/30/40 years...' and pausing, expecting a round of applause.

Remember this. I was 10 and got Kevin Keegan's autograph after the game!

Seriously? Lambert is finished in the PL. May still be able to do a job in the C'ship, and if he wants regular football that's where he'll have to head...
