Stockport vs Saints - 1st Half updates/discussion
Stu Man Do replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Saints
Thank god for that ... He stands at over 6ft 3 Ricky Ricky ... :-D -
You'd think they'd have learnt from signing David "Nugget" Nugent for 6million :-p And they wonder how they got up the finanicial ****ter! Still, hopefully Watford will now spend some of the 2million on Rasiak if he really has to leave.

From the chapel end (yes i know!) e.g. the end he was shooting towards he looked MUCH better than patterson and imo has looked better than Pato everytime he has played. He is a higher standard due in part to his experience, he hurried defenders he moved into good positions to pick up the ball and more importantly knew what he wanted to do with it when he did receive it! For my money he and Lambert would be the best strikeforce we currently posses. Get him out there on Tuesday and lets see what they can do with a couple of real wingers getting the ball into them.

Why did the ball boys have the balls taken from them?

Saw that as well as I'm sure the ref did! Saga went to "discuss" this with him and the ref shrugged his shoulders as if to say "dont worry mate!" grrr -
I saw him clap ;-)

Fair enough if thats what you think I couldnt see it myself and ive defended wotton plenty of times before. Lets take his set piece defending, when is it a good idea to mark space? or mark a player already being marked and thus get in the other defenders way? Perhaps his shocking sideways/backwards distribution impressed you or the way he is in no poistion at all most of the game, neither able to clear out the midfield or get back to defend in time. In your opinion who was the worst performer? And what mark out of 10 would you suggest wotton would get?
-
ok for whats its worth having just gotten back from witnessing perhaps THE worst saints display ive seen in the last 10 years heres my ratings, cant understand the reasoning behind a 4-5-1 yet with no real wingers, pace or tackling ability in the centre! Davis -8 Distribution sometimes lets him down still not quite quick enough with an out ball but to be fair to him didnt have a lot on mostly as our idiot outfield players cunningly marked themselves with odd positional play. 2 Super stops, couldnt do alot for the goal. Harding 6- Clearly an excellent defender but his default mode out ball appears to be hit and hope really needs to improve on this Thomas - 3 Dodgey heading crap marking no organisational skills at the back few naff back passes as well almost cost us - shame he didnt chin wotton though :-( Lancashire 3- I really feel for the poor bloke everything he did seemed to go against him poor marking i think it was he who lost his man for the goal but feel free to put me right James 4- No attacking influence not much good in defence either but a couple of saving tackles gets him his 4 Lallana 3- Clearly a skillfull player but FFS stop doing your stupid step over back heely whats it you ALWAYS get tackled, didnt beat his man, doesnt play a wide position AT ALL our left side was crying out for a real winger to beat the right back and get in a cross ... I'm still waiting Wotton 0- If anyone at the game knows of any reason he should get even 1 mark please let me know, all this guy does is mark space, crap passing and shouting at others for his mistakes mean this fella should really never ever ever play for us again. Schniederlin 2 - powder puff sums him up tonight , he may develop into a top player but i dont think it will be with us Melis 3 maybe 4 - Some good touches the man most likely to do something but still clearly expecting to get fouls like you would in the super protected prem Patterson 4- not a winger why he wasnt allowed to play up front i dont know, not a winger again a mistake by pardew to play him there Lambert 5- Continually had to drop back to midfield , to my mind to make up for wotton, near enough zero supply to him tonight I wont bother with the subs, surely a manager of any quality could see we needed changes tonight and they didnt happen until 81 minutes had passed .... quality moment of the night though when the ball came into our end and some kid refused to throw it back until we got a sub lol Pardew 2- Poor tactics and team selection, shocking lack of any subs until it was far too late not ideal! Overall its not the defeat but the manner of it which really hurt, I felt pretty embarrassed for the team and other fans coming out of the ground tonight. If you could see some serious effort then fair play to lose sometimes but really tonight i cant think of ever really thinking we'd get back into the match. Hopefully we will kick on, on Sat! COYRS! Lambert

Just me or did anyone else mistake SWP for former "hero" BWP seemed about as useless as his brother. At one point when he'd beaten one man and had to simply take the ball with him to get in for a chance on goal he left it behind :-p
-
Ha thats quality get that going =] as someone else said change lambert for ricky and it sounds even better , even been sad enough to check it scores against the torres song on youtube :-(
-
Ha! A true saints fan ... believe it when you see it! Would be a decent signing but as I've said before earlier in the thread im suprised he'd join us as things stand. Maybe Beckford next ey? ;-) ;-);-)

Good point Tac tics, I know that Flash was working for Leicester as a scout last season and seeing as our own scouting has been described as dire we could do worse than listen to him! Lambert would be an excellent signing for this league but I'm sure he rates himself higher than ourselves at present, the lack of bids for his services seems odd after his what? 34 goals last season! I think I read somewhere that rovers want close to 2million for him so a little bit over priced to my mind.

Just got back in the game? LOL 5-1 at that stage! Seems to me that Colchester are a decent side on their day same as anyone else in this division. Reminded me of the day we went to wolves and won 6-0, everything we hit went in. I shouldn't think the signings had anything to do with it really as they'd been doing well in pre-season though at the same time does seem to stick the v's to those on here who were about to slit their wrists because we couldnt buy a result pre-season. I know which set of fans are going to be happier tonight and we're still 9 points behind them!!!
-
Possibly but to my mind Saga is closer to the exit door having already stated he WILL NOT play in league 1. As far as I'm aware Rasiak has yet to come out publicly and ask for a move, kudos to him if so. As for Wotton ahead of Gillett ... i can almost see the 2 seconds to late passes and the passes back to the right back already :-(
-
I think potentially Norwich have made some good signings for this division and could do well if they all come together. Like CWD said Leeds look pretty likely to be there or there abouts along with a host of teams.
-
Am I the only one thinkng that 1million for the pair is an absolute joke? I appreciate they are in the last year of their contract but they are what? 30 years old and still have it inthem to be effetive at this level. Is a million quid worth what we'd lose from the team by selling them?
-
I see it much the same, I feel however that Saga can jog the **** on over his last time refusal to play and he looks out of shape in the pre season games Ive seen. I cant imagine his best effort is in it if he stays unfortunately. Rasiak on the other hand would, I'm sure still put the ball in the back of the net realising he can get a move in January when he's nearly out of contract and if he plays well. His wages were cited as the main reason Watford didnt move for him this summer.

To be honest its nothing to do with the fact we were beaten by ajax. Murty was without doubt poor on saturday and this in the main was down to the fact he was over weight as pro's go and had little pace which meant he couldn't get back once he had made a mistake. You only had to look over to the left back slot to see how a player with a little pace could get back and make a saving tackle (step forward mr mills). Its not putting Murty down its just pure fact as seen by everyone who went to the game =] Can only get better though stick him on some hardcore WGS style trainning and he could be a useful squad player.

Adam Hammill, Ali Dia, Lee Todd, Matthew Robinson, Jackobsen, Nillson, Davenport, Pericard; There you go, 8 players all worse than Jason Euell. Granted he isn't the best player we've ever had but far from the worst ever. His main problem was the fact everyone was so annoyed by his over the top wages and his initial spell of not being that bothered. Did well in the pearson run in and played ok for many of his games last season without ever really being exceptional.
-
Could have been a decent player with us, clearly needs some half decent guidance, something our recent managers clearly haven't been very good at! Has pace and to be fair some of his finishes are superb execution wise, just look at the goal vs Charlton this season. Has something about him but fitness is a major issue in my mind, just look at how good he was 1st half vs burnley against how knackered he looked 2nd half where he had little effect. Think the video sums him up unfortunately, 6 mins of quality over what? 3 years! :-p I'd keep him on reduced wages else good luck at Plymouth.

Saints refuse to deny Strachan at club last night
Stu Man Do replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
No one else seems to have mentioned from the sun article that wotte was in talks to sign a player, any ideas who this might be? -
Also Oldknow back on SSN as chief operations executive good or bad news?
-
Two words ... Chris Makin! All well and good remembering how good he used to be for reading but injury prone last year, 35 and lacks pace.
-
What a legend! We know you've done your best Matt, thanks for at least getting involved and trying to save our club! Fullest respect as ever to yourself!

For a bloke who seemed more than happy to spend his "valuable" time on the forum telling us how close we were to a deal and how absolutely certain they were of a take over TL seems to be rather quite. Personally I'd like to hear from TL with the real reasons they thought they couldn't proceed with a deal. Tony the floors open to you.
