  1. Isn't it because the European windows all shut at the end of August? Pretty sure we tried one season to end ours the day before our domestic season started but everyone got annoyed because it put English clubs at a disadvantage compared to other leagues.
  2. I was surprised to learn that crisps actually are political: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/ampp3d/general-election-how-crisps-you-5590920 My favourite is Mussolini Mustard and Gammon flavour.
  3. I dunno, it's a puff piece for the official site to get his name out there so people know he's supposed to be doing something. All this talk of alignment - we were doing that under Ralph. The example he gave - everyone is ambitious and wants to be in the premier league. Well, shit, show me a club that doesn't have staff that wants that. It's basically management bullshit bingo - there's no real detail in that interview. I've quoted you but it's not really a dig. The interview probably isn't the right vehicle to go into details that matter and I guess that's fair enough, but it's so anodyne that it's difficult to find a reaction either way. Good luck to the fella though.
  4. I think they mentioned he picked up Cornet for Burnley and Duk seems to be a decent prospect at Aberdeen. Meant to look at whether he had any links to Stewart but forgot - I guess he can ask his brother though.
  5. because it's his? I think he has an ebay shop though so might be worth waiting till it comes on there.
  6. Overall, you're right - he didn't have anywhere near the presence he needed. It's a shame because he had an absolute blinder against Liverpool (think it was the game that Ralph cried). I hoped he would kick on but never happened.
  7. They probably take an average of all three.
  8. Revolution Saint: "Southampton have said no chance to bids less than £50M for Romeo Lavia. As it stands Liverpool look set to miss out on the highly rated youngster. Fans are furious" Has a better ring to it.
  9. Cheers both. That does make sense, I didn't know the cameras won't also snap you at over the limit as well as calculate the average speed.
  10. OK, I’m probably going to annoy you even more but if you get snapped doing more than 50MPH (or whatever the average limit is) but your average is less than 50MPH then do you still get nicked? I don’t tend to drive in many average speed sections so I honestly don’t know, although I probably should.
  11. What would be nice if these articles had a bit of a change in tone. So instead of us being over valuing or being unrealistic, we get articles calling Burnley a bit cheap, without a pot to piss in, or skint.
  12. Rule 1
  13. I'm glad the one person left in the UK who didn't know, now does.
  14. It didn't initially - edited later.
  15. Adam Armstrong was second half. Missed the first half but think you’re right on the others.
  16. I think he goes and probably to West Ham. They’ve been the most consistently linked and the first bid is just the start of the dance. We’ll have a few weeks of back and forth and maybe we’ll get Flynn Downes in return but I don’t hold out much hope that JWP will stay. My only concern is we extract as much as we can for him and that enables us to perhaps keep hold of players like Alcaraz, Tella, Tino, and Sulemana.
  17. 20M + Flynn Downes? I could see us negotiating something around that kind of deal.
  18. Yeah, seems like we tried to keep him so from that perspective it's obviously not positive but in terms of factors that determine how successful we'll be then I'd put the quality of the squad and ability of the manager far higher than an individual coach. Ideal opportunity to bring back Dennis Rofe though - I'm still standing for Stoneham after all these years.
  19. Seemed quite well liked and by all accounts played a big part in helping Alcaraz settle. Hopefully Alcaraz is well integrated now - he looks to be from the pre-season videos. Hard to tell what other impact it'll make but good luck to him.
  20. If it's Gary Lineker I think you might explode. Best case scenario for the BBC is it's Louis Theroux - he can interview himself then.
  21. We should sign Giorgio Chiellini. Make it happen Jason Wilcox
  22. The issue is not so much killing soldiers but whether it poses threats (and lasting threats) to civilians. It's much like mines in that respect. Perfect world neither side would be using them but Russia already are and Ukraine have signed up to not use them near civilian populations and to document when and where they do use them. I'm not particularly happy about it but from a pragmatic point of view it makes sense.
  23. Cheers, that's interesting. I'd assumed that since promotion we'd maintained a 20k+ ST base. I think we had something like 22K for last season in the championship? I dropped mine off after a couple of seasons back in the prem for a variety of reasons but certainly one factor was the entertainment value in the premier league isn't actually all that great if you're a mid to lower level club. That's not a particular criticism of the premier league - just stands to reason that if you're winning far fewer games then it's not going to be as enjoyable (plus you're paying more for it). Will be interesting to see how many we sell if we have a decent start.
  24. Any chance we could rename this thread to something like, "Sam Edozie: One for the future, or just plain crap" I can ignore it then.
  25. That seems quite a heavy handed approach to wooden doors - I just open them.
