  1. Yes, when they have microphones strategically placed all around the pitch!
  2. I was 13 yrs old when Saints were promoted to the First Division and England won the World Cup. What a year! R.I.P. Nobby Stiles.
  3. Taps at the guitar strings ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp-X3-xxNo0
  4. Thanks for all the effort you put into this site. It is much appreciated.
  5. Lime-flavoured wine gums.
  6. This just in: " ... a wrinkle in this time-honored process — the peace prize was first awarded in 1901 — emerged on Tuesday, when the committee announced that it had uncovered what appeared to be a forged nomination of President Trump for the prize. The matter has been referred to the Oslo police for investigation." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/28/world/europe/nobel-peace-prize-trump-fake-nomination.html?smid=fb-share&fbclid=IwAR15wEP-YpotmO8zhgZEpx6p1Td9W7CS7-xycXTA3jRisv2ZHIFGPyC1ATE
  7. It's Ché Adams--as in Che Guevara.
  8. Perhaps Trump could bring these "tremendous efforts" in brokering peace to the domestic situation in the United States--instead of inciting violence and fomenting conflict.
  9. Yours truly can reveal that we are not happy to be corrected for our expression of personal opinion. We can confirm that this is the feeling of all of us.
  10. Journalists who use the term 'we'--as in 'what we know so far'.
  11. Agreed. I prefer the modest, sincere type.
  12. Adkins, Pochettino, and Hasenhüttl.
  13. I've been getting "504" and "502--Bad Gateway" messages all day. Been having trouble connecting, off and on, for a week or two. Frustrating.
  14. "7. Liverpool vs Manchester United"?
  15. "Man of the World" was one of the first records I bought. It came out as a single in April, 1969. I also loved "Albatross", which was released in November, 1968. Green was probably the best lead guitarist during the British blues boom of the mid-to-late 60s. He had a great tone and beautiful finesse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtmW2ek7WkQ
  16. Piano forte is Italian for soft loud. Unlike the harpsichord, which was unable to vary the volume of notes played (the strings were mechanically plucked), the pianoforte could be played soft or loud, depending on how hard you pressed the keys--activating small "hammers" (covered in cloth or leather) which struck the strings.
  17. First half was horrendous. Too many changes in defence. Hojbjerg at RB was a disaster. If Ralph didn't want to play the regular RBs, then put in JWP, who has shown he can play there. Hojbjerg was marginally better in the second half and he had a couple of pretty good shots on target. But that time, near the end, when he passed straight to a Brighton player, and broke up a promising attack, was typical of how poor he was today. Vestergaard was a disaster waiting to happen. He seemed to think he was playing LB or left midfielder. He loped around in first gear, trying to show the nonchalance of a Van Dijk. As if. Then he had that screamer of a shot that hit the post, and later he "raced" back to stop a breakaway with a last-minute sliding tackle. Talk about a Jekyll & Hyde performance. Armstrong and Walker-Peters made a huge difference when they came on. Walker-Peters always seems to wriggle away from tackles; he gets down the wing effectively; and puts some good crosses into the box. Redmond was as frustrating as ever. While Ings seems to weave his way through a pack of players all the time, Redmond often runs around until he has two or three players blocking his path and has to pass backwards or loses the ball. And Ward-Prowse reverted to the constant sideways and backwards passing, instead of looking for an initiative to get forward. I hope we can get back to our best XI for the last two games and pick up a minimum of four points.
  18. We deserved that point. Saints worked really hard and showed a lot of crisp, quick passing. Nice to see us get something, after the usual gushing adulation of the commentator for Man U--when they had their purple match in the first half. Pogba was mediocre today--good to see him robbed twice by Saints' high pressing. Saints have been one of the best teams since the restart. Hope to see at least seven points from the last three games!
  19. Obvious sarcasm from Noodles.
  20. Of course all abstract terms which attempt to describe social, political and historical relations are "invented". But that doesn't mean they cannot usefully characterise the nature of those relations. The notion of patriarchy is not vague at all; it's a simple one: a social system that is dominated by men to the extent that women are systematically discriminated against--excluded from positions of power, denied ownership of property (especially through inheritance), and ignored in the halls of opinion. The notion is not vague, but how the different elements of patriarchy play out in a particular social system can vary in scope and severity.
  21. Thanks for all your work, Steve.
  22. Here he is, live in 1973 doing "Lucille".
  23. I loved the Bach album that Olafsson did so much that I recently bought his other two albums: one is called "Debussy - Rameau", and features solo piano pieces by Claude Debussy and Jean-Philippe Rameau; the other is called "Philip Glass- Piano Works" and features primarily a collection of Glass's piano etudes. Both albums are superb.
