  1. Sam Gallagher coiuld have two relegations, Blackburn f'sure and Birmingham not safe yet. Incidentally anyone know why he has not played recently? Injury or out of favour? Not sure if Steven Davis counts, Rangers were relegated from the SPL to the 3rd Division following their insolvency, which resulted in him joining us. Although we should not be looking out to recruit players with this experience it could be handy to have one or two who have experienced the lows and bounced back. They might be able to help some of our delicate petals.
  2. Won't happen while Ms Liebherr remains part owner of the Club. Might happen if Gao buys her out completely and looks around for some help spending his (backers') money, which hopefully he will at some point otherwise we will continue with the current bumbling board.
  3. It was actually taken from more or less the right place. The confusion is because people think that it was given for the first "tackle" by JWP inside the Chelsea half. It wasn't it was given for the second one inside Saints half, as clearly indicated by Dean gesturing to play on at the time. For all his faults, Dean was actually pretty much spot on with this decision and its aftermath (Dermot Gallagher tried to clarify this on Sky, his clarification was awful and confused but it was correct if you could see through his muddled explanation). The problem, as so often this season is that our midfield either don't stop dangerous attacks or give away stupid free kicks in dangerous positions. Then our defenders get blamed for the consequences. In many cases it is not our defenders that are the problem, but our midfield, Lemina, Romeu, Hojbjerg, JWP, Tadic, Davis, Redmond, Boufal all have been quilty often of causing goals by their defensive ineptitude at various times. But the so-called Forum experts blame Stephens, Cedric, Bertie and Hoedt (Hoedt has been guilty several times of awful individual errors of course). Chelsea's second goal could easily have been prevented if Tadic had been marking Hazard instead of standing watching what was going on, hand on hips.
  4. No she did not. She did not get to control the club until the Probate process was completed. Almost as soon as she got control she showed Cortese the door. Poch followed. She was not in control when we rose through the Championship and for the first 2 seasons back in the PL.
  5. But would anyone from the club contact him to let him know?
  6. Problem is that we are so devoid of people with football knowledge now, how do you think Gao will find the right person to appoint? Perhaps Nelly will find the right candidate.
  7. Someone should have followed up about Sam McQueen as well, think he is long term absentee and Hughes seems to forget about him unless asked specifically. Shame cos he could do a job that lets Bertrand played in a back 3 which we know he can do well.
  8. looked. Long didn't exactly look full of confidence either, but new manager and style helped to bring it back. We need someone with a bit more finesse than Shane to play against Chelsea, ideally I would play Austin, but he doesn't give the impression that he could do the full 90 yet. We all know Gabbi is top class given the right service, think he would be a better bet than Long for this one, and if Long is not fully fit (which Hughes confirmed he has only been back training today).
  9. No McQueen or Davis either. Not sure Long was the right way to go for Chelsea anyway, would be tempted to start Gabbiadini.
  10. Seldom seen Yoshida do this, but Hoedt does often.
  11. Guess its dependent on Long's fitness. Didn't look good on Sunday. Would put Davis in instead of Hojbjerg (if fit) and Sims instead of Tadic. Problem is we are screwed if either CB gets a knock or a red, really don't want to have to depend on Bednarek.
  12. Picked up an injury yesterday apparently.
  13. What are you on about? She only got control of the Club in 2014, and by mid 2017 had sold the club a process she started at least a year earlier. 2 years from getting control to putting the club up for sale, didn't take her long did it.
  14. Or could be the fact that he has been ill during the week. He was mentioned as a doubt by Sparky. Guess Davo is not fully fit yet either. Still persisting with the woeful Tadic, but otherwise guess that is the best team for the job from the players available.
  15. McCarthy Cedric (or Pied) Stephens Yoshida McQueen Romeu JWP Lemina Davis Sims Austin Subs Taylor Pied/Cedric Hoedt Bertrand Hojbjerg Gabbi Long Hopefully Tadic, Boufal and Redmond not even on the bench. Might even consider Bednarek on the bench instead of the awful Hoedt. Lemina to push forward more, Romeu to provide the DM anchor role (and try to avoid getting a yellow)
  16. Targett probably.
  17. Conceding from our own corners is nothing to do with selling off "our two defensive lynchpins". Unless you think they would have scored from the awful tadic corners, then they would have been in the opposing penalty area for the corner. The issue is that we have awful AMs taking awful corners and they are unable to get back and defend, and we do not cover our corners adequately with players in the middle of the park. Trying to blame this trend on central defenders is laughable. So much of our problem this season has been down to our AM trio of Tadic, Boufal and Redmond. At least when JWP takes corners we don't usually end up conceding from them.
  18. We get overrun in midfield because we play Tadic, Boufal and Redmond (in any combination). Need to drop all three if we are to have any hope. McCarthy Cedric Stephens Yoshida Bertrand Romeu Lemina Davis JWP Sims (or McQueen) Austin Trouble is Romeu is still on 9 yellows and there is one more game before the amnesty, but we need him back in the DM position, allowing Lemina to get forward. Need to get the players in who give a damn and not keep hoping that the pathetic AMs that we have been relying on will suddenly understand how to attack with purpose. Might even be worth giving Pied a go at RB.
  19. Sturrock
  20. Quite true, a noted photographer, but not known as a footballer. Hoedt on the other hand, is a footballer, but is inexperienced and prone to many costly mistakes, Stephens and Yoshida should be the preferred CB pairing at the moment. Hoedt is a decent backup and will develop in the next couple of years into a very good CB, once he learns to cut out the silly, avoidable, costly mistakes.
  21. The irony of being endorsed by Diego Maradonna.
  22. Bit of a joke really. Fonte, Lallana, ridiculous. Doddsy, great bloke but best LB, not even sure he would be top 10. Franny, definitely having a laugh, legend yes, but ultimate XI, hahaha.
  23. The FIFA document uses the words "Clearly wrong" with regard to penalties. Clear and obvious is a simple clear and obvious extension of this is wording. The term clear and obvious may have emanated from Howard Webb and subsequently been understood by referees and professionals, including pundits at least in this country.
  24. People are mentioning clear and obvious because that is what it is meant to be used for. It is meant to be used to overturn clear or clear and obvious errors.
