Its the league cup competition for Premier League 2 sides (u23s). We won it 3 years ago (when it was u21), didn't Sam Gallagher score a screamer in the final at St Mary's?. Nowadays it is played in a group competition format, 8 groups of 4 teams, top 2 from each group qualify for the knockout stages (same format as CL and EL). Even after last night we are still top of Group B (Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City, Southampton, Watford) though only 2 points cover the 4 teams with 2 left to play.

He is the epitome of inconsistency, especially this season. His goals have dried up and he is being completely overshadowed by Mo Salah. He is still world class amd I would have him back in a flash, but to consider him as "not inconsistent" is laughable.

What I don't understand is that the lady complainant only boycotts Liverpool games (she is a season ticket holder). The c word isn't exclusively used at Liverpool games is it? I recall hearing it at most games, is she actually offended by insults against Lallana and Lovren (if its the 3rd season running) rather than the c word itself? Its a very odd thing to do, to boycott a game against a particular team in case the c word is used, because as she has boycotted it for 3 years how does she actually know that the c word is used anyway? I get the sense this is really a bit of a put-up job. I don't condone use of the c word by the way, but neither would I be offended by anyone using it, its just a word/sound, used by the grammatically challenged.

The primary purpose of a Defender is to defend, Danny Fox was ****ing useless at his job. Yes he did some assists. Sorry if calling him out as a charlatan means I know nothing about football, whereas in reality it shows I know more than some on here who think Danny Fox was a good defender, iansums.

Forren never really cost us much, we allegedly got back most of what we paid (not all but most). Bednarek will be OK in a couple of years, he is only 21 ish. Gardens wasn't a mistake, but his career was ruined by injury. He's also a very decent bloke and did more than most to acclimatise and make Southampton his home. Wish him good luck in the future, hopefully if will find a decent club probably back in Romania. Pied too, decent player, limited but always gave everything when he was asked.

Should be playing instead of Hoedt as well, this week Stephens, last game Hoedt yet Yoshida is on the bench. Need his experience to help the two youngsters.

Would have played Yoshida instead of Hoedt, problem is having to rely on Tadic and Boufal who are hopeless at creating this season. About time we tried Sims or even Hesketh.

No. Puel was very poor at Saints, but did enough early on to secure a decent position, which made things look OK, but underlying was a very poor points total and terrible form after the LC Final. Lost the dressing room, played dull, uninspired football at the end of the season. Just because he is currently doing well at Leicesater with what is still largely the 2016 PL Champions squad and under very different circumstances does not mean it wasn't right to get rid. Different managers have different outcomes in different circumstances. Look at Koeman. It wasn't working and thankfully our bumbling Board could see that. What they replaced him with was of course a different matter, but that doesn't make it wrong to have taken action when they did. It will be interesting to see how Puel gets on next season, especially if Mahrez leaves. leicester's football is not exactly inspiring anyway, but their results are of course very good.
